02/12/2025: I've been going to this place since the '90s, when it was still just La Plaza Pub and the legendary Guido had already brought a piece of Mexico to Carrara. With El Rey restaurant, he has once again managed to transport his customers to Mexico with every bite. I've been to Mexico twice and can confirm that Guido and Marta's cuisine is authentic, traditional Mexican cuisine dating back to pre-Columbian times, not the Americanized Tex-Mex we're used to finding here. The menu features various vegetarian options, and by calling ahead, you can get an excellent vegan menu. Guido, the owner, is down-to-earth and very friendly; you always feel at home here... Plus, his knowledge of Mexico is immeasurable. I recommend having a margarita made for him because it's truly delicious.

05/10/2025: A truly charming place. We stumbled upon it almost by chance and were treated like regulars. The handmade tordelli alla carrarina were truly delicious. It's not a trendy place, but a typical osteria where you can eat really well. Highly recommended, excellent value.

07/09/2025: We stumbled upon this place by chance on our way back from the Tuscan hinterland. Given the sheer choice, we decided to try several dishes, listening to the owner's expert advice. Superlative home-cooked dishes... a full stomach and a happy wallet! Highly recommended.

12/12/2025: It's a piece of social and gastronomic history. A must-see during a visit to Pontremoli. Even better in the warmer months, with tables on the narrow riverside terrace for romantic one-on-one encounters. Excellent value for money.

07/12/2025: You get there by crossing bridges over streams, passing through narrow streets in the center, and even ravines you don't know or can only imagine, and finally you arrive at this simple and splendid old-fashioned trattoria, just the right amount of chaotic, with outdoor seating on a wonderful veranda overlooking the river. There's no printed menu, but the few delicious dishes are spoken. We order an appetizer of a simply amazing local salami, with ricotta and chestnut fritters, pecorino cheese, herb cake, and giardiniera. First courses include artichoke ravioli and a fantastic walnut sauce, and the second course is fried lamb. The place is small and always busy; reservations are required, otherwise you risk waiting a few minutes, but the service is quick. The owner is friendly and lively.

08/12/2025: Since the change of management, things have been much better. Lots of young people and a revitalized atmosphere.

30/11/2025: Starting today, a new LAW (invented by them because the internet says exactly this): “No — there is no general law that requires everyone seated at a table in a restaurant to necessarily consume something. The restaurant provides the table, the customer chooses whether to consume something. There are no rules that impose an obligation for each person seated to order.” EVERYONE at the table MUST consume what they like... rude and impolite staff... (I gave one star because giving you zero is painful)

15/10/2025: This was a fantastic little place tucked away in the middle of nowhere in a little piazza serving the local delicacy Lard and other dishes. Extremely tasty, in an atmospheric courtyard with friendly staff. Possibly one of the oldest bars/trattorias in the area and filled with a cool ambiance. Well worth the trip for authentic regional food.

26/08/2025: A very beautiful place, nestled in the village of Colonnata, but the prices are absurd and out of proportion. A platter of cured meats, 6 small beers, 2 coffees and they set us back 67 euros...not even in Parma such a price for renowned cured meats. I will never return.

20/08/2025: We ate very well, with very traditional, home-cooked food. The staff was also very friendly and helpful.

12/11/2025: So the pizza is delicious, and there's plenty more to say. P.S. Be careful with the prices, pizza is at least 16 euros.... For cooked food, no starters, only main courses, and if you don't get what you asked for, send it back, otherwise you'll pay because you consumed it. Okay, for the rest, the service is good, except that the toilet is on the ground floor, and if you need to, you have to go through the entire place and go down one floor.

28/09/2025: During our trip to Monferraglia, we went to this restaurant for dinner. As soon as we entered, we were a bit perplexed by the quality of the place, given that the chairs and tables were truly old, and the entire decor was dated. That said, two very polite and kind ladies sat us at our table, and they listed and explained the entire menu to us. Once the food arrived, we immediately dug into these delicacies. The classic charcuterie board and the tagliata. Truly excellent food and excellent service. We'll be back.

26/10/2025: The ice cream isn't creamy at all, it feels like ice melting in your mouth, and it has no flavor at all... The flavors all seem the same. The staff is really rude, they don't even say hello if you greet them first; nothing, they don't say a word.

21/09/2025: Extremely tasty Pizza and Calzone! We had a small conversation wth the chef. The service was great. And the Calzone was so great I'm already planning to take another trip to Italy to pay the visit here ;) A slight negative - there's no toilet available.

19/10/2025: Terrible experience – total tourist trap! Prices were not listed on the menu, which was already suspicious. We ordered two portions of pasta and one steak that was supposed to be 1 kg, but it clearly wasn’t even close. The bill came to €140, which is absolutely outrageous. Avoid this place at all costs — they overcharge tourists badly.
