04/04/2026: I don’t know where to begin with Scara & Beo… Possibly one of the most memorable dinner I ever had. You enter the restaurant from a tiny, narrow street. Once inside the space expand suddenly, over a large room which carries on over the rooftops and the valley through two beautiful windows. This analogy carries on with the exquisite food, waiting to burst in your palate. Everything is thought. Every little detail. The decor, the attentive service, the food. Even the music, always tasteful and just at the perfect volume (an art form itself). Paola, behind the counter, is the real maestro, quietly orchestrating and finishing each dish with focus and passion. If you are vegetarian or vegan, this little, extraordinary place is a confirmation that being kind to animals doesn’t mean sacrificing the pleasure of eating. Can you make poetry with food? Certainly yes. Here it happens.

20/05/2026: There's honestly no better place than Osteria del Teatro. Last Friday, we celebrated with 40 friends in a private room, and it was truly one of the most special lunches we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the whole team welcomed us with so much warmth, kindness and care. Every single person working there made us feel incredibly looked after, and all of our guests kept commenting on how beautiful the space is and how delicious the food was. We even had a baby with us and the team kindly brought her toys to play with and made sure she felt entertained all time. That level of care meant so much to us and says everything about the people behind this place. A huge thank you to everyone at Osteria del Teatro for giving us such a memorable night. We had the best time ever, and this has become such a special yearly tradition for us that we honestly wouldn’t want to celebrate anywhere else ❤️

17/05/2026: Everything was excellent, the prices were spectacular for the taste. I had the stuffed gnocchi, the Chianina beef appetizer, and the Pavlova...I'll definitely be back. The bathroom with the dolls is a little scary 😅

27/07/2026: Perhaps the best pasta dishes we had in Italy (2 weeks in Tuscany including Bologna). Really cozy and very local.

09/06/2026: By far the best seafood we ate during our stay in Italy and throughout Tuscany. Everything was incredibly fresh, perfectly prepared, and full of flavor. It's clear the cuisine is based on high-quality ingredients and attention to detail. The portions were generous, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere made you want to linger. If you're looking for truly exceptional seafood, this is definitely worth a visit. One of those restaurants that you'll remember for a long time and want to return to again and again.

17/06/2026: They have put together the best staff at Il Falconiere. From start to finish no matter what we were up to, they were professional, sweet, & accommodating. We got eloped here and we have to give Claudia a special shoutout because she is special but literally every employee is special. As is the rooms, the property, and the cooking class.

03/05/2026: Enoteca Enotria was our favorite spot to visit during our week long visit in Cortona. Proprietor Sylvia and her team were a joy to visit with at the end of our daily adventures. They were welcoming, knowledgeable and created a comfortable, unpretentious environment in which to unwind. We enjoyed delicious wines, beers and charcuterie during our visits. We were sad to say goodbye to this gem and hope to someday return.

02/05/2026: We’ve been fortunate to have a week in Cortona, in a small apartment up the hill. Our favorite time of day is making the descent to the Main Street in town and finding our favorite enoteca: Enotria. The staff is kind and welcoming, the owner, Silvia, is so friendly and helpful, it’s become our go-to spot for relaxing after adventures and people watching. Seating inside or out is great, the selection of wine, cocktails, snacks and others is fantastic (I love their beer selection that includes a Belgian tripel and some great local craft offerings, including a Munich Helles at a great price). We did a charcuterie tasting with Silvia and it was delightful. This place has real heart, so swing by, if you can.

20/07/2026: It's a little place that's close to my heart. Tradition is the most authentic taste. I'm taking away from this weekend in Cortona beautiful memories, flavors, and images, including this place. I can't help but mention the ladies in the dining room. They're kinder than I've ever encountered in a while. Truly extraordinary. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again, infinitely.

15/07/2026: Very nice lovely traditional Italian restaurant. The service is extremely friendly and quite fast. The food is very good, of high quality and well presented. The price of the food is very reasonable.

02/07/2026: Amazing food and the Owner & Chef is the nicest person. He spent 7 years working in a 2 Michelin star restaurant and you can really taste and see culinary training. He speaks fluent English and is super friendly. Chef’s goal was to present his grandmother’s recipes but in a more elevated way-he truly succeeded. The tuna we had was super tasty and a crowd favorite. This is the place to go if one wants a taste of true local Italian cooking. Anyone visiting Tuscany should definitely come here and give this place a try.

07/05/2026: We can't say enough about Ambrosia. This was our second visit to Cortona and our second visit to Ambrosia. Each time the food and service were fantastic. The owner/chef greeted us and spoke with us about the dishes he prepared. We tried the six course chef's dinner and it was fantastic (and we love good food). Highly recommend.

03/01/2026: Too expensive for a place in the middle of nowhere

31/12/2025: We went for a family dinner, and unfortunately, many of us were disappointed because the fillet was very tough. Given that the price was higher than average, we expected better quality. My husband, however, was very pleased with the cut of steak, which was very tender and juicy. I had the smoked gnocchi, which were quite good. The others had tiramisu for dessert, and they were also disappointed, as it wasn't at all like tiramisu, but rather a kind of mousse with lots of cream. What can I say? My husband enjoyed it and will definitely be back for the steak. As for the rest, given the poor quality of the fillets and steak cuts, perhaps it would be best to at least reconsider the prices.

08/05/2026: We just returned from a 3 week honeymoon in Italy which required a LOT of planning. I normally am not one to leave a review, but we relied so heavily on them to plan our trip so I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help someone else out. :) This was the third stop of our trip. And if I had to describe this hotel, I'd say it's like a luxury bed and breakfast in the rolling hills of Tuscany. The property is gorgeous and the staff was very accommodating. However, be aware, this hotel is not walking distance to really anything so you will either need a car or will need to hire a taxi or a driver to get anywhere. We ended up paying over $75 in 1 day just to get to and from the town of Cortona which is about a 10 min car ride away. Also, when we were there in April, I think we were 2 of maybe 6 guests on property. It felt almost eerily quiet. This is definitely not a hotel that you would come to for the fun atmosphere. Its more of a relaxing, luxury, and romantic get away. The staff does a nice job to help coordinate any plans / logistics that are needed. And I would highly recommend making plans for each day that you are there. We really enjoyed the wine tour that they coordinated for us. I do want to give a special shoutout to the food because the breakfast and dinner that we had were always fantastic! However, be mindful that that their kitchen is closed on Monday nights and so are many of the local restaurants. We found ourselves in a bit of a predicament after our wine tour, so we had to have our driver bring us to a grocery store to get some food. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Just do your homework before hand so that your stay can be as enjoyable as possible!

13/01/2026: This place was so serene and quiet this time of year (late December). The staff was attentive and accommodating and the food... so good! Worth staying here for couples. I would say it's romantic. But, we also saw a couple of young families. You will be spoiled if you stay here. We will never get a better breakfast spread anywhere. They set the bar high!

25/07/2026: We had another delicious meal. Fantastic stinchetto, tasty antipasti, and it's nice that the chef always personally takes some time for you. On his recommendation, we were able to sample a platter of salami and cheese. It tasted hearty.

05/06/2026: Absolutely beautiful little placed tucked into Cortona! The food is authentic and made with great care by the wonderful chef/owner, Liliana. We had a fantastic time and will be back again.

31/05/2026: Sartù is a hidden gem in Cortona that is located going halfway down a set of stairs just past the pharmacy on the left. We made a last minute reservation and the staff was extremely accommodating. Lorenzo was our server and host and he was extremely kind and knowledgeable. He spoke some English and provided detailed explanations on the dishes. He also made great recommendations on wine to pair with the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant felt like having an intimate dinner in a Tuscan villa as it only had 18 seats (2 wonderful tables outside). We ordered an assortment of food to try as much as possible on the menu. We tried the ravioli, gnocchi, pork, braised wild boar, and finished with a deconstructed cannoli that was prepared to perfection. The chef here is from Naples and also makes a special crème brûlée with cinnamon. We wanted to order this as well but were too full! If you are visiting Cortona, Sartù should be at the top of your list for dinner. Thank you Lorenzo and Sartù for a wonderful experience. We will see you again soon!

29/05/2026: We stayed with a Smartbox for only one night, but it was a shame because the place is truly beautiful and deserves a more peaceful experience. Excellent location in the Cortona countryside, within easy reach of Montepulciano, Pienza, and Bagno Vignoni. Very helpful and always friendly staff, super! We definitely recommend it. They don't have a restaurant, but they do offer breakfast, which is highly recommended: a place surrounded by greenery and so peaceful.
