We stayed with a Smartbox for only one night, but it was a shame because the place is truly beautiful and deserves a more peaceful experience. Excellent location in the Cortona countryside, within easy reach of Montepulciano, Pienza, and Bagno Vignoni. Very helpful and always friendly staff, super! We definitely recommend it. They don't have a restaurant, but they do offer breakfast, which is highly recommended: a place surrounded by greenery and so peaceful.

Huge potential, but a disappointing outcome The initial impression was excellent: upon arrival, we were greeted by a truly delightful and exceptionally kind receptionist. The rooms have a slightly vintage style, but overall, they're comfortable and functional. The highlight is definitely the exterior: the garden and sunny area are simply divine, and the value for money is absolutely excellent. Unfortunately, one incident ruined the experience: there were still 30 minutes left until breakfast, and the receptionist, perhaps thinking he couldn't be overheard, commented loudly, "I don't know if these guys are coming anymore." This was a decidedly inappropriate and unprofessional outburst, which particularly hurt me given that I wasn't feeling well and also had a fever. I was very disappointed because, otherwise, the atmosphere was wonderful.

The property is beautiful, surrounded by greenery and just a few minutes' drive from the village of Cortona. But I'd especially like to compliment the staff, who were very kind, attentive, and helpful.

01/05/2026: Great professionalism and courtesy, genuine and never forced. We felt welcomed and pampered. The dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients, and it shows. The staff is always available, ready to meet the customer's needs. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Almost all dishes can be requested in a gluten-free version, yet the flavors remain excellent. I'll conclude by emphasizing that the portions and prices are absolutely adequate. Highly recommended for celiacs and non-celiacs alike!

08/05/2026: We just returned from a 3 week honeymoon in Italy which required a LOT of planning. I normally am not one to leave a review, but we relied so heavily on them to plan our trip so I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help someone else out. :) This was the third stop of our trip. And if I had to describe this hotel, I'd say it's like a luxury bed and breakfast in the rolling hills of Tuscany. The property is gorgeous and the staff was very accommodating. However, be aware, this hotel is not walking distance to really anything so you will either need a car or will need to hire a taxi or a driver to get anywhere. We ended up paying over $75 in 1 day just to get to and from the town of Cortona which is about a 10 min car ride away. Also, when we were there in April, I think we were 2 of maybe 6 guests on property. It felt almost eerily quiet. This is definitely not a hotel that you would come to for the fun atmosphere. Its more of a relaxing, luxury, and romantic get away. The staff does a nice job to help coordinate any plans / logistics that are needed. And I would highly recommend making plans for each day that you are there. We really enjoyed the wine tour that they coordinated for us. I do want to give a special shoutout to the food because the breakfast and dinner that we had were always fantastic! However, be mindful that that their kitchen is closed on Monday nights and so are many of the local restaurants. We found ourselves in a bit of a predicament after our wine tour, so we had to have our driver bring us to a grocery store to get some food. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Just do your homework before hand so that your stay can be as enjoyable as possible!
13/01/2026: This place was so serene and quiet this time of year (late December). The staff was attentive and accommodating and the food... so good! Worth staying here for couples. I would say it's romantic. But, we also saw a couple of young families. You will be spoiled if you stay here. We will never get a better breakfast spread anywhere. They set the bar high!
