19/05/2026: The hidden gem! This place is amazing. My food was excellent, crispy bread with liver and truffles as a starter was outstanding, Michelin star level. Pasta plate was very good, but not exceptional (that may be determined by my choice) and desert tiramisu was great. Good espresso closed the deal. Service was great.

18/05/2026: Cortona Bistrot is undoubtedly one of those places that surprises and delights. Everything we tried was delicious, but I must give a special and obligatory mention to their egg dish with pecorino and truffle. It's served by the owner, with his wife in the kitchen, and the service is exceptionally friendly.

The expert and truly friendly staff pampers guests from their arrival to their final farewell. The unique location in the heart of Cortona completes the picture of this truly exceptional restaurant in every way.

04/04/2026: I don’t know where to begin with Scara & Beo… Possibly one of the most memorable dinner I ever had. You enter the restaurant from a tiny, narrow street. Once inside the space expand suddenly, over a large room which carries on over the rooftops and the valley through two beautiful windows. This analogy carries on with the exquisite food, waiting to burst in your palate. Everything is thought. Every little detail. The decor, the attentive service, the food. Even the music, always tasteful and just at the perfect volume (an art form itself). Paola, behind the counter, is the real maestro, quietly orchestrating and finishing each dish with focus and passion. If you are vegetarian or vegan, this little, extraordinary place is a confirmation that being kind to animals doesn’t mean sacrificing the pleasure of eating. Can you make poetry with food? Certainly yes. Here it happens.

21/09/2025: On the recommendation of friends, we went to this osteria. The dish we had to try was the Chianti risotto. Our expectations were very high, and we can say they were fully met. It's an unexpected dish (in the realm of pici and lasagna), and we'd definitely recommend it. Be warned, cinnamon is one of the ingredients. We'll be back on our next visit to Cortona.

03/05/2026: Enoteca Enotria was our favorite spot to visit during our week long visit in Cortona. Proprietor Sylvia and her team were a joy to visit with at the end of our daily adventures. They were welcoming, knowledgeable and created a comfortable, unpretentious environment in which to unwind. We enjoyed delicious wines, beers and charcuterie during our visits. We were sad to say goodbye to this gem and hope to someday return.

02/05/2026: We’ve been fortunate to have a week in Cortona, in a small apartment up the hill. Our favorite time of day is making the descent to the Main Street in town and finding our favorite enoteca: Enotria. The staff is kind and welcoming, the owner, Silvia, is so friendly and helpful, it’s become our go-to spot for relaxing after adventures and people watching. Seating inside or out is great, the selection of wine, cocktails, snacks and others is fantastic (I love their beer selection that includes a Belgian tripel and some great local craft offerings, including a Munich Helles at a great price). We did a charcuterie tasting with Silvia and it was delightful. This place has real heart, so swing by, if you can.

14/02/2026: A truly warm and welcoming place. Very kind and polite service. After a reasonable wait of 15-20 minutes, we ate excellent Peruvian food. After the obligatory mopping up of the plates, we left our plates practically clean 😜. Generous portions and excellent prices. Highly recommended! Compliments to all the staff.

03/01/2026: Too expensive for a place in the middle of nowhere

31/12/2025: We went for a family dinner, and unfortunately, many of us were disappointed because the fillet was very tough. Given that the price was higher than average, we expected better quality. My husband, however, was very pleased with the cut of steak, which was very tender and juicy. I had the smoked gnocchi, which were quite good. The others had tiramisu for dessert, and they were also disappointed, as it wasn't at all like tiramisu, but rather a kind of mousse with lots of cream. What can I say? My husband enjoyed it and will definitely be back for the steak. As for the rest, given the poor quality of the fillets and steak cuts, perhaps it would be best to at least reconsider the prices.

08/05/2026: We just returned from a 3 week honeymoon in Italy which required a LOT of planning. I normally am not one to leave a review, but we relied so heavily on them to plan our trip so I wanted to share my experience to hopefully help someone else out. :) This was the third stop of our trip. And if I had to describe this hotel, I'd say it's like a luxury bed and breakfast in the rolling hills of Tuscany. The property is gorgeous and the staff was very accommodating. However, be aware, this hotel is not walking distance to really anything so you will either need a car or will need to hire a taxi or a driver to get anywhere. We ended up paying over $75 in 1 day just to get to and from the town of Cortona which is about a 10 min car ride away. Also, when we were there in April, I think we were 2 of maybe 6 guests on property. It felt almost eerily quiet. This is definitely not a hotel that you would come to for the fun atmosphere. Its more of a relaxing, luxury, and romantic get away. The staff does a nice job to help coordinate any plans / logistics that are needed. And I would highly recommend making plans for each day that you are there. We really enjoyed the wine tour that they coordinated for us. I do want to give a special shoutout to the food because the breakfast and dinner that we had were always fantastic! However, be mindful that that their kitchen is closed on Monday nights and so are many of the local restaurants. We found ourselves in a bit of a predicament after our wine tour, so we had to have our driver bring us to a grocery store to get some food. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. Just do your homework before hand so that your stay can be as enjoyable as possible!

13/01/2026: This place was so serene and quiet this time of year (late December). The staff was attentive and accommodating and the food... so good! Worth staying here for couples. I would say it's romantic. But, we also saw a couple of young families. You will be spoiled if you stay here. We will never get a better breakfast spread anywhere. They set the bar high!

29/05/2026: We stayed with a Smartbox for only one night, but it was a shame because the place is truly beautiful and deserves a more peaceful experience. Excellent location in the Cortona countryside, within easy reach of Montepulciano, Pienza, and Bagno Vignoni. Very helpful and always friendly staff, super! We definitely recommend it. They don't have a restaurant, but they do offer breakfast, which is highly recommended: a place surrounded by greenery and so peaceful.

24/10/2025: Sartù is a tiny hidden gem down an alley that you wouldn’t notice unless you appeared down and saw some tables outside on the steps. But boy am I happy I went in there thanks to my host and TripAdvisor. This is a one chef one server restaurant at least in the fall months. The menu had the most delectable titles of dishes. My ravioli dish with red sauce (a rarity in Cortona) and ricotta and other cheeses was titled something like “when everything good comes together and is nice.” Hilarious and true. I also had a dish with a round of pork covered in local vegetables that felt like it had been cooked in a stewing pot. It was the most delicious thing I’ve eaten all week. And not stereotypically Tuscan cuisine like most of the other restaurants in town, though they did have some staples like the Chianina and white beans.

24/09/2025: Wow—what a hidden gem! Sartu absolutely blew us away. The steak was simply delicious (paired perfectly with an order of carrots), but what really took things over the top was the deconstructed cannoli—hands down one of the most unique and memorable desserts I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is incredibly intimate, with only 18 seats total. We felt so welcomed, and even the chef came out personally to say hello, which made the experience extra special. It truly feels like dining in a private kitchen rather than a restaurant. If you’re lucky enough to snag a reservation, you’re in for a treat. Highly recommend—this is a place you’ll never forget.

10/05/2026: I toured some of the vineyards, then visited the winery where they make sparkling wine, and then tasted some of their wines. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the vineyards and winemaking. My compliments to the young woman who accompanied me and explained the winemaking philosophy they use at the winery.

10/05/2026: Relais & Châteaux Il Falconiere is a hotel that exceeds all expectations. It's situated in a phenomenal setting, where you truly feel privacy and tranquility, with very well-insulated rooms. We chose a mid-range room, neither the best nor the most basic, and it was still wonderful, with beautiful views of the pool. The spa deserves special mention: it's free, although you have to book, and the experience was excellent. Honestly, I would always return there. In fact, I left thinking that if I ever return to Tuscany, I would stay at this hotel again without hesitation. The only thing that didn't quite win me over was the restaurant. The aesthetics and ambiance are spectacular, very elegant and well-maintained, but in terms of flavor explosion, the food didn't particularly impress me. On the other hand, the hotel wine was marvelous, probably some of the best I tasted in the entire area.

02/01/2026: We were a group of almost 50 people, pappardelle with watery sauce, stew with potatoes shredded, except for the peas and the bavarois, very cramped for a large group, we practically filled the place, we booked in advance I was hoping for better service

26/09/2025: We went there with some friends to eat a pizza, which I would describe as really good: not thick, well-topped, crispy, excellent, whether Kamut, wholemeal or wheat flour. The place is often full, I would recommend booking, large parking and quality service, I can only recommend it, obviously there are not only pizzas but you can eat everything and with satisfaction.

11/09/2025: A recommendation from a friend. I wasn’t disappointed. Excellent pizza, I like these thin and crispy pizza bases. The usual classics and a few novelty toppings. Booking advisable at the weekend.
