20/04/2026: On a school trip, We stayed at this hotel. The rooms are clean but very neglected, especially the bathrooms. The balconies were filthy with bird droppings, and there was an air conditioning motor on the balcony with exposed pipes. As for the food quality, in my opinion, it definitely needs improvement. What's absurd, in my opinion, is that the menu included a pasta dish with pesto, and for those who didn't like it, there was no alternative other than pasta without tomato sauce... I can't believe a restaurant/hotel can't offer a tomato pasta dish. The icing on the cake was the rude and impolite staff, even towards teenagers. I understand that when it comes to teenagers on trips, they aren't always calm and quiet. But professionalism also lies in how they handle the situation. This time, the reviews I read didn't contradict the reality!

14/04/2026: Unacceptable experience Unfortunately, I can't give a positive review. Cleanliness is almost nonexistent: finding hairs between the blankets and insect nests in the rooms is unacceptable. We had technical problems with the toilet water, and, to make matters worse, the food was disappointing, with dishes served in significantly smaller portions. A place that doesn't meet the minimum standards of hospitality and hygiene.

23/02/2026: One star for the friendly waitress; the pastries and coffee were good. Then the friendly waitress finished her shift. We went to pay and were met by the rude owner of the bar. He wanted €11 for two pastries and two coffees. That seemed too much to us. He said we had also ordered a salad. A long, rude argument ensued, and in the end, it was €7 without a receipt.

05/04/2026: It wasn't lunch, it was punishment! The atmosphere was unpleasant and disorganized, with moldy ceilings. For 17 people, three bags of bread were burned on the outside (bread reheated in a pan?). The meat appetizer was fresh from the freezer, the seafood appetizer was of dubious origin. When it came time for the main course, the seafood risotto arrived—RAW RICE! The owner told us, "It's al dente, it can happen; don't come with so many people." She hadn't even finished speaking before we got up and left. The owner insisted we had to pay for everything, even though we hadn't continued eating. I STRONGLY advise against it!

16/10/2025: Unfortunately, I'm forced to give it one star, if not less. I've been ordering from this place forever, but recently I've noticed a decline in quality. Every time—and I mean every time—I order, the restaurant changes or removes ingredients without any kind of communication (e.g., the cutlet instead of the classic Poldo chicken, or a Professore without mushrooms, etc.). The fries are cold and of lower quality than before, a salmon sandwich with two meager slices of salmon... In short, terrible value for money. It's a shame because it used to be one of the best.

20/09/2025: I STRONGLY RECOMMEND LONG-TERM CUSTOMERS NOT TO SET FOOT HERE. I went to a place I've been going to for years. I ordered, and after almost 40 minutes of waiting, they realized they'd lost my order, and with a huff, they took it back without even listening. Later, after they'd delivered the sandwiches and were leaving, I realized one was missing. Instead of apologizing in every way, they huffed and puffed and complained to the kitchen. I asked the owner to come out to apologize, and he almost wanted to punch me just because I was so upset. I think the old owner, "Paolo," would have sent everyone home if he'd seen a scene like that. A loyal customer since the old location, but after this, they lost an entire family of customers.

29/08/2025: Pleasant service and environment for this restaurant but avoid it because it is expensive for bland and creative cuisine.... For a first evening of vacation, it's a miss!

04/10/2025: A truly embarrassing place. Completely overpriced for what it is. It’s effectively a place nailed together by plywood with a bar and a bottle of Moet being displayed. Owner is snotty and turns up the music well beyond „party“ level at random moments. He thinks of himself as a bit of a DJ but does not know what he’s doing. Instead he terrorises his guests. No problem with loud music but there is a moment and a place and that’s not it. Sorry guys but this place is a no no.

24/09/2025: The place itself is cute, no complaints there: the atmosphere is pleasant, and the idea could work. But we're in Sicily, not New York! The prices are so exorbitant that they completely ruin the experience. In the end, you're left with the feeling of having paid too much for a few bamboo decorations and little else. Definitely the first and last time: a place designed only for naive tourists who get ripped off. And with all the money they charge, they're not even capable of clearing the mountains of trash from the side streets.

12/03/2026: Good sandwiches and a wide selection. However, there's one thing we didn't like: even if you choose a €5 sandwich, as soon as you add chips and sauce, it becomes €8. Even though this is the price listed, ten chips doesn't justify a €3 surcharge! Drinks are also expensive; a half-liter bottle of water costs €1.50.

28/10/2025: I celebrated my daughter's 18th birthday. I'd like to point out that the setup with Mrs. Cettina and the staff deserve 5 stars, but my experience with whoever currently manages Villa Cassandra was terrible.

03/12/2025: Warning!!! Credit card fraud during a car rental at the hotel. We were on vacation at this hotel from August 29th to September 6th, 2025. The rental agent took a photo of both sides of our credit card for the security deposit, and today (December 3rd, 2025), three months later, there was a charge of €106 from a car rental company (even though we paid for the rental that same day). Be extremely vigilant!

11/11/2025: The hotel is very run-down. The balconies look like they're about to collapse, the repairs in the rooms are shoddy, the soundproofing is nonexistent, and the bedding is terrible: the mattress springs dig into your ribs. Otherwise, the room was clean. The entertainment team was friendly. The all-you-can-eat buffet was very mediocre: a cold buffet and a hot buffet, but ultimately the same thing every day, lunch and dinner for a week. The quality was very poor, and there was little to no dessert offered. Excursions were expensive and unguided. We did find some nice people to laugh with about our woes with the hotel, but this experience left a really bitter taste.

25/12/2025: The food was average. I had the pizza siracusa, which included canned anchovies, chicken breast, and sun-dried cherry tomatoes. The crust was chewy and nice, but it was way too salty—far too salty! I had to refill my teacup. The waiter was very helpful, noticing my needs at appropriate times without asking too many questions. The lighting in my seat was poor, making it unsuitable for eating. The drinks were okay, but the coffee was terrible. The prices were typical tourist rates.

22/12/2025: Good beer and liqueur. Good service. Great location.

08/12/2025: Friendly and attentive service (hence the star), but unfortunately by far the worst pizza we've ever eaten in Italy. No fresh toppings, canned tomato sauce, and far too much bad cheese; everything was swimming in grease. I sent half of it back – I've never experienced anything like it!

28/10/2025: Passed in September, medium quality cone and excessive price.

28/04/2026: Bar in a suburban area, two cappuccinos for €5 and a pasta dish for €2, total €7. You can't even find these prices in Milan. It's a place we used to go to; we'll never go there again. I strongly advise against it, also because I imagine they're charging these prices to people who don't live in Syracuse, so it also seems unfair.

21/04/2026: Three of us (two adults and a child) went in just to have a beer and an ice cream. Nothing more. And here comes the full-blown robbery: THEY HAVE NO VISIBLE PRICE. Not at the bar, not on the tables, not on the menu, not anywhere. They serve you with the face of few friends and then stab you with a knife. The bill? 39 euros for three beers and an ice cream made of bread soaked in oil. When we protested, the waiter (a rude guy with the face of a criminal) literally spat at us: "It's a tourist price, sir. That's how it is in Sicily." So these people openly admit that they are professional thieves who take advantage of foreigners and hide it by not showing the prices. The beer was lukewarm and disgusting, the ice cream tasted like expired supermarket freezer and the service was slow, unfriendly and full of contempt. To top it off, when we paid by card they tried to sneak us an extra “servizio di tavolo” of 10 euros that wasn’t even mentioned anywhere. Pure organized scam. If you’re a tourist in Syracuse, avoid this bar like the bubonic plague. It’s a sewer designed exclusively to empty the pockets of visitors passing through Viale Teocrito. It’s not a bar, it’s a trap for the unwary. There are many in Sicily, but this is one of the most shameless and unscrupulous I’ve ever seen. Zero recommended. Zero stars. Avoid it if you don’t want to leave angry, scammed and wanting to report them. WARNING EVERYONE: THIS PLACE IS A SHAME FOR SICILY.
