Freccia Club
Bari
20/09/2025: The station is spacious and clean, with plenty of ticket machines. The train number isn't printed on the ticket itself, which is inconvenient. Tickets are cheap; at Poligniano, it's only €3. Tickets are valid for two hours from the time you buy them.
There are also several nice cafes at the station serving coffee and sandwiches, and vending machines selling water and drinks, but they're more expensive than at the airport.
One downside: I wanted to take photos of the entire station for Google Maps, showing all the details and amenities (signs, ticket office opening hours, restrooms, elevators, benches, and the general atmosphere), but an angry security guard came up to me and forbade me from taking any photos (I don't even have a camera; I use a regular Samsung smartphone). I asked her to show me the written rules to make sure they weren't just a whim, but a real rule, but he refused and called a younger guy who spoke English. He was polite enough, looked at the photo, confirmed I wasn't taking pictures of people, smiled, and let me go. I wasn't able to finish what I wanted—photographing the entire station for its future users—and was left dissatisfied and upset.
03/08/2025: There are no benches for ordinary mortals without lounge access.

26/11/2025: You can enjoy a truly good coffee while being greeted by the friendliness of Umberto and Isa.
Also recommended for a quick snack.

Bar Messico...gelateria...dal 1966
Bari
13/06/2025: Giving it one star is also not enough.
I strongly advise against this place. The bar is from the last century, but it's also fine because I like the vintage style anyway.
But that's not the problem.
My partner and I, in the summer heat, went in to ask for a packaged ice cream. I asked for a specific ice cream, the gentleman who was at the counter with a piqued and visibly annoyed look, replied that I had to make the croissants okay. And that's fine...
I put the two croissants in my partner's hand. I asked for the price and I emphasized I INTENDED TO PAY, with the card.
The gentleman, as soon as he saw the card, jumped and snatched the ice creams from my partner's hands, as if we were thieves.
I strongly protested this attitude and notified him that the POS is mandatory.
With a bold and arrogant air, I was told that he does what he wants and that he doesn't care about the consequences.
You don't treat customers like that. I hope it closes, at least that guy gets his well-deserved retirement. He can't be in contact with the public.
I'm sorry.
