09/08/2025: A beautiful mountain refuge, easily reached from the town of Malesco via an uphill path through the woods. The polenta with cheeses is excellent; I wasn't entirely convinced by the polenta with mixed meat sauces, but the house tarts are excellent. Good and fair prices.

04/11/2025: Fantastic place! Everything is delicious, from the bread to the desserts, you can taste that everything is made with care. The staff is always friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. I also really appreciated the free aperitif, a really nice surprise! 👌🏻👌🏻

30/06/2025: Hai fatto 4 passi svizzeri con la moto, vorresti fermarti un attimo per bere qualcosa e allora ti fermi nel primo posto che capita sulla strada. Entri in un locale guardato come un marziano perchè sei forestiero ma soprattutto perchè non chiedi birra e vino ma chiedi acqua e bibite per rinfrescarti, e qua salta tutto: battute simpatiche , proprietario divertente e divertito che ci offre un tagliere di salumi, simpatia e accoglienza e....sicuramente torneremo per una cena conviviale con più tranquillità, divertirci come matti e magari fermarci per la notte. Bravissimi davvero complimenti per tutto

It has that special atmosphere that makes you feel at home, while still being vibrant and alive. 31/10/2025: We stopped for lunch on the way to Locarno. This restaurant is highly recommended for anyone stopping in Santa Maria. I had a freshly cooked fillet steak on a stone heated in a wood-fired oven, with a side of polenta and porcini mushrooms. Everything was delicious, and the staff were incredibly friendly!

30/07/2025: That evening, the restaurant was very crowded, and the staff seemed overwhelmed: all the waiters were rushing around without even greeting customers. Even though we had a reservation for 8:30 PM, our table wasn't ready when we arrived. We sat on the terrace. We had to wait on the terrace for about 40 minutes before someone came to take our order, and another 40 minutes for our pizzas. Coffee was offered as a courtesy, but honestly, the overall experience was disappointing. That's not how it should be.

02/11/2025: Delicious, delightful. It was a dreary, rainy afternoon and the restaurant was a good respite from the weather. My husband had the venison ragú over tagliatelle with a blueberry sauce. I had the sea bass with potatoes. Both were delicious. We started with a pumpkin flan which we would recommend. The wait staff were attentive, engaging and put up with our poor attempts at Italian. It was a wonderful afternoon.

20/11/2025: Okay falafel, but no hummus or tahini sauces. They only have the yogurt garlic, mayo, ketchup and spicy sauce. You can definitely make a great vegan Falafel wrap or plate. The prices are good, and the portions are nice.

14/11/2025: I ate this before changing trains to Interlaken. The kebab was delicious. The wingbong was delicious. If I hadn't tried the kebab, I would have gone for pizza. If I ever get the chance, I'll definitely come back. The owner was very friendly and greeted me in Korean. I was grateful.

10/11/2025: Right next to one of the most iconic mountains in the Ossola valleys, Cistella, stands the trattoria that proudly bears its name. And what an honor, because not only does the food taste great, but it's also an authentic experience of Ossola cuisine and mountain hospitality, one of the finest I've ever experienced. As mentioned before, the ingredients from the Ossola valleys are the star of the show. We started with an excellent platter of local cured meats and some fantastic lard that melted in the mouth, with honey and walnuts. For the first course, the real highlight of the dinner arrived: homemade Ossola gnocchi with porcini mushroom cream. I won't beat around the bush, but for me, it was the best plate of gnocchi I've ever eaten, I swear: the gnocchi were delicious, perfectly cooked, and not too stringy like sometimes happens; the mushrooms were fragrant and fresh, and the creamy sauce completed this whirlwind of incredible flavors. My friend, who doesn't like mushrooms, had gnocchi swimming (in a good way) in a generous portion of venison ragù. We practically mopped up the sauce with it, it was so good. We finished with grilled lamb chops, a great classic here, enhanced by the quality of the meat, and tender venison stew accompanied by sautéed potatoes. The homemade desserts were very good, especially the mascarpone with amaretti biscuits. The bulk wine was excellent, all Piedmontese. I chose the Garrone winery, a perfect pairing for a dinner like this. The gentian, always amazing, helps digestion. The service was very kind, helpful, and cheerful. The price was surprising: all this goodness cost us just over €40 each. An exceptional dinner that truly thrilled us; I couldn't find anything out of place. Congratulations!

18/10/2025: The restaurant has the typical atmosphere of a trattoria, and you can immediately sense that it's popular with locals, which is always a good sign. The staff is friendly, attentive, and very helpful. The ingredients used appear to be of good quality, although I personally wasn't particularly impressed with the dishes I ordered (beef tartare and trout). A negative note was the house red wine, which I found to be rather poor quality. A definite plus was the tiramisu: truly spectacular, one of the best I've ever had! Overall, a decent experience, although I found the value a bit high.

16/10/2025: Very good, reasonably priced food. We were staying in a vacation home a few meters away and ate here several times. I highly recommend everything. I had to deduct one point from the overall rating because the soft drinks were served in cans, which I'm not used to in restaurants; it had a bit of a kebab shop feel to it. 😐 If you can handle that, you've hit the jackpot in this region. 👍🏻

27/09/2025: Lovely little bakery. I visited it multiple times while staying in an Airbnb nearby. The staff was lovely, and she served me kindly. Even though she didn’t speak English, she made a great effort to communicate and provide excellent service.

19/08/2025: I'd already been here last year while hiking, and I was struck by the delicious breakfast and the simplicity, naturalness, and kindness with which the owners provided their service. This morning, driving down from Domodossola toward Lake Maggiore, I took the inland road specifically to stop again and enjoyed two cheese, ham, and tomato panzerotti, accompanied by a beer. I finished with an excellent espresso accompanied by a shortcrust pastry and jam. A memorable breakfast. A unique point of reference if you're passing through Ossola. If you sit outside, you can enjoy the view of the beautiful stone Church of San Vincenzo e Anastasio, a characteristic architectural feature of the area.
