20/11/2023: We had a really good and comfortable time. The Zingarelli family's Riserva di Fizzano relais is immersed in a quiet, silence and tranquility that reconcile you with life and the world. The relais is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves as far as the eye can see and offers suggestive views and breathtaking sunsets and can be easily reached by car. Its position is strategic because it is possible to reach, by car and in a short time, places such as San Gimignano, Siena, Monteriggioni and Castellina in Chianti. Unfortunately, we were not able to use the gourmet restaurant and the buffet breakfast (we still found in the two-room apartment: bagged croissants, rusks, jams, coffee, biscuits, milk, juice, etc.), as the restaurant was closed during the period of our stay. The two-room apartment with garden where we were guests is spacious, refined, rustic, clean and equipped with every comfort. We recommend that you find out carefully and in detail about how breakfast is offered, especially when the bar and restaurant are not available. Finally, a special thanks to the girls at the reception Ilaria, Sonia & Ana who supported us in all our needs, from the morning coffee/cappuccino, to booking the restaurants in the area and the visit to the Rocca della Macie winery. We strongly recommend the guided tour and related wine tasting at the Rocca della Macie winery, founded in 1973 by Italo Zingarelli and a paradise for classic Chianti. Discounts are reserved for guests of the Riserva di Fizzano relais, both for the guided tour (congratulations for Sofia's preparation!) and for the purchase of wine at the Wine-Shop. We took advantage of it... We hope to repeat this experience at the Zingarelli family's Relais Riserva di Fizzano soon.

21/09/2023: Toskana vom Feinsten. Auto wird benötigt. Anlage liegt etwas erhöht zum Umland und dadurch fantastische Sicht und vor allem Sonnenaufgang & Sonnenuntergang zu bestaunen.

03/04/2024: We ordered two pizzas and two burgers to take away and it was all very good. Great attention for those who don't eat meat. We saw the Easter menu in a double version, also for vegans. Compliments!

30/04/2024: Alcide restaurant, a beautiful location but a little dated (perhaps a small restyling especially to the bathrooms wouldn't hurt), but attentive, sober and precise staff, they know how to make you feel pampered, then the food (I ate fish) was wonderful, very good. I definitely recommend it also because the quality is excellent and not too expensive.

25/04/2024: This was a wonderful recommendation made to us by friends- a unique experience in Tuscany. From the moment we arrived the experience was memorable. The accommodations were comfortable and quaint, the views from around the property were amazing and the food and wine were delicious! If you stay here be sure to make a dinner reservation at least 1 night of your stay- a menu crafted from ingredients on the farm- simply amazing.

26/11/2023: We had two dinners at La Taverna while staying at Il Borgo at Castello Banfi. First was a four-course tasting menu (plus amuse-bouche to start and cookies after dessert) matched with four wines (plus sparking wine to start). The second night, we ordered from the al la carte menu and had two classic Tuscan dishes: Pici al Ragu Di Cinghiale and Bistecca alla Fiorentina with a bottle of Banfi Brunello di Montalcino Poggio alle Mura. The service is very friendly and attentive and the setting casual and comfortable. A great place to eat!

11/11/2023: I enjoyed a multi-course lunch as part of the Banfi Excellence Tour. It was a great way to cap off a stay at Banfi with both equal parts tasty Tuscan food and exceptional wines. All around good service in a setting at the Banfi estate that evokes visions of a good Tuscan life. A definite must if touring the wine region but its popularity means planning ahead with a reservation.

07/04/2024: The restaurant looks great and is very nicely decorated. The waiters were very nice and polite. However, I found the quality of the service to be below average. Although we ordered a relatively expensive Brunello wine, it wasn’t decanted, and none of the waiters refilled our glasses. Our table didn’t have salt, pepper, and olive oil and we were looking for the waiter for at least 5 mins to ask for it. Our plates were taken away while we were still finishing our appetizers, and the next course arrived 10 minutes later. I wouldn’t have written this review if the steak we ordered had been good. The meat was not tender and was quite chewy. I wouldn’t revisit.

20/05/2024: We had a delicious dinner with polite service. It's very cosy inside. Due to the weather, we couldn't sit outside on either of the two terraces. Overall a bit on the more expensive side. Free parking directly under the restaurant's viewing terrace.

05/05/2024: At the Castle Inn You get there after having filled your eyes and heart with the splendid landscape that the Val d'Orcia offers you. An elegant and welcoming restaurant located in the external portion of the castle of San Giovanni d'Asso. The inn has two entrances, one from the square and one from inside the walls. Both entrances have a spacious and well-furnished dehors. Excellent welcome from Massimo the owner. The room is tastefully furnished and the menu is varied, with fish and meat dishes. We ate on the first evening: a trio of artichokes, Maremma ravioli, Florentine ravioli, puff pastry with apples. On the second evening we wanted to try the fish, spaghetti with clams, baked sea bass, mixed fried fish, ice cream. We were satisfied, good value for money. Well attended environment. The castle inn highly recommended.
