Trattoria Tripolitania In Sarteano

The restaurant has a slightly retro feel. We chose it after reading the various reviews. We were looking for a place to eat local dishes. We have no comparison criteria, but given our inexperience, we ate really well. The pici alle briciole were fantastic, as was the tagliata with lard and pecorino, and everything else. The menu doesn't have a lot of choice; there are a few dishes per course, but they focus on their own ingredients. The portions are generous. The staff is helpful. The prices are fair. Appetizers are around €10-12, first courses €12-13, and second courses €13-18, depending on your choice, of course. We really enjoyed it and recommend it.

You can eat wonderfully here. Simple dishes, but deliciously prepared. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the Tuscan atmosphere.

A great find right in the city center, where tradition and courtesy meet to offer the best Tuscan dishes. We recommend the pappa al pomodoro and tagliatelle with wild boar ragù. A good selection of local wines.

Flavors of a bygone era in a timeless setting. Even the name "Tripolitania" harks back to times gone by, and in fact this restaurant boasts over a century of business, having opened way back in 1911, when Italy was no more than an empire... Here we rediscover the true flavors of Tuscan home cooking, now hard to find in an increasingly globalized and conformist restaurant industry. I highly recommend it, especially to foreign tourists who want to discover authentic dishes from this region. Will I return? Definitely.

I returned after several years, but with the good Galliano, things have remained unchanged. He has moved from the more refined cuisine he had in his previous restaurant to a more homely cuisine, keeping the values ​​of the old Tripolitania intact, and even improving them. The atmosphere is so welcoming that it feels like eating at home. Prices are still reasonable.
