10/06/2025: A super nice restaurant with a truly wonderful hostess (she speaks German, by the way ;)). The food was fantastic (the best pizza we've ever eaten) and the value for money is excellent. We went there twice in a row because we felt so comfortable there. There's also free parking just 5 minutes away. We returned after two years, and the quality hasn't changed at all. It's still delicious!

19/05/2025: Rooms a bit dated but the location and the food are excellent. The Florentine steak is really recommended.

19/05/2025: The staff was friendly and pleasant. The food was delicious and good. The T-bone steak was reasonably priced. The garlic dish was unique and delicious.

16/05/2025: We are passing through and we stop at this Osteria found on the internet. The environment is well-kept and refined but the dishes are abandoned but should be improved, I expected a higher quality. Fortunately at least the wine is of a superior level. Honest prices for an average trattoria

15/05/2025: Food is delicious. We have been to the restaurant 3 times in 1 week and always had great food and service, except for the last time. Service left a lot to be desired. In particular with the manager / owner. I ordered a plate of pasta and was given a very small portion compared to other tables sitting next to us. When I asked the waitress if they could add a little more pasta to my plate, they told me that I had to wait until the end of the meal and see If I wanted more. When paying the bill I addressed the issue with the manager/owner and she was very rude and disrespectful, raised her voice at me and told me I was the problem. Obviously, I will never go back. This person needs to learn about respect and customer service. Great food, but the worse customer service ever. Great way to ruin our dinner.

02/06/2025: Perfect dinner: pici all'aglione were not very full of garlic, but as pasta with tomato sauce they were perfect! The roast cockerel was exceptional! Tiramisu was more like whipped cream with ladyfingers, still very good Instead, the cantucci with vin santo were more like chocolate biscuits! However, I would return because the food is good and the welcome is spectacular

01/06/2025: Disappointing experience in every aspect Unfortunately I have to leave a negative review. The rudeness and arrogance of the owners completely ruined the experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was cold and rude, and every request seemed like a nuisance. In addition, the food was well below expectations: small portions, you would expect at least a minimum of attention and courtesy, but none of this was present. I do not recommend this place and we certainly will not return.

02/06/2025: Sono stata a cena con il mio fidanzato, ci andava di provare un posto nuovo e grazie alle recensioni e alle foto del locale che rispecchiano totalmente la realtà abbiamo scelto loro. Abbiamo trovato una location incantevole, grotte scavate nel tufo, posto accogliente e personale attentissimo ed educato. Cibo di ottima qualità, piatti belli all’occhio e buoni al gusto. Consigliatissimo, ci tornerò presto sicuramente!!

02/06/2025: Serata perfetta! Siamo stati qui dopo aver letto diverse recensioni positive e le aspettative sono state pienamente soddisfatte. Cibo molto buono, atmosfera intima e personale gentilissimo. Complimenti!!!

10/05/2025: La location si presenta calda e accogliente. Peccato per un odore sgradevole di fogna all'ingresso, probabilmente dovuto a una situazione momentanea. Il personale è preparato, gentile, professionale e attento. Il servizio è ben organizzato, con una buona descrizione e presentazione dei piatti, curate e coinvolgenti. È però mancata la descrizione del vino, probabilmente per una semplice dimenticanza. Il menù è ben studiato, con una prevalenza di piatti di carne ma anche alcune proposte di pesce. Manca però attenzione verso le esigenze di vegetariani e vegani. Bella la carta dei vini con diverse proposte. La qualità dei piatti è buona: lo spaghetto era ben pensato ed equilibrato, anche se nel mio caso un po' d’olio in eccesso; il polpo leggermente duro e gommoso, buono il complesso; perfetto invece la mousse di ricotta, un dolce tra i più buoni provati, equilibrato e ben realizzato. Il rapporto qualità/prezzo è corretto per il tipo di proposta.

06/05/2025: Very disappointing. We had spontaneously reserved a dinner and received a very quick response, which made us very happy. Unfortunately, we accidentally chose the wrong restaurant as there was another Il Fratoio at our holiday resort. A waiter from our restaurant explained the situation to them over the phone and we also apologized via email. Unfortunately we have never received a reply since then, but the EUR 150 fee was charged. Of course it's your own fault and you'll be informed of it when booking, but I would have hoped and given such good reviews of the restaurant that they would be a little more accommodating or at least respond to my email. When I visited Tuscany, I would have liked to put this restaurant on my next wish list, but that's been crossed out. I find something like that a bit thin.

24/05/2025: Pranzo con i cugini in questo locale sabato 24 Maggio ; locale pieno per un “novantesimo” più altri tavoli e quindi molto ‘rumoroso ‘ . Però arrivati i pici al ragù di chianina tutto è passato in secondo ordine: pici da urlo , porzione decisamente abbondante e super conditi di ragù. Di secondo una tagliata molto tenera e saporita ( magari un po’ piccola ) e patate fritte. Tiramisù deludente , poco inzuppato e crema ‘ piatta ‘ . Caffè molto buono . Servizio in sala e in cucina molto efficiente, tre camerieri per un centinaio di persone molto svegli e gentili . Conto onesto , ;0 euro a persona . Ottimo per gustare specialità della zona

09/05/2025: We were the only clients in the restaurant so it was quiet and the only sound from the kitchen was… microwave. And it tasted as microwave food… misleading high rate in google this time… coperto 2 eur per person and not even olive oil was served to pizza… avoid this place.

01/06/2025: By bike from Volterra to Montevarchi we stop in Castellina and looking for a restaurant and here we are at Fondaccio. We have the bikes and Mauro, the owner, has them stored inside with the possibility of recharging. For lunch, since we are from Trentino, we eat pici all'aglione and with cacio e pepe. A good beer and coffee with cantucci. A treat, since we were halfway. Thanks Mauro and thanks to all your kind and professional staff.

28/05/2025: I had a very good pizza Chinatigiana – great crust and excellent toppings. Attentive service, but not intrusive. A nice place that's not just for tourists.

29/04/2025: Vintage place, with very attentive and kind staff without being intrusive. The vegetable pie and the pizza are excellent, large and tasty. Try the Chianciano cake, a local specialty: sponge cake soaked in almond liqueur and custard.

18/05/2025: We were here in 4, motorcyclists from various parts of Italy on a quiet evening, even though it was 9.30 pm and many restaurants did not let us eat here we not only fed ourselves but had fun and learned about culture, the owner is one of the few restaurateurs who still today embraces classic catering where at the table you enjoy flavors and sharing. There are fewer and fewer places like this, thanks again for the splendid evening. Regarding the food, impeccable, the superb wine recommended with great experience. A great surprise also the bill, more than honest.

24/05/2025: For once a good choice. Reasonable menu with reasonable prices. It is not always clear what you get. The soup, for example, was not soup at all, but a kind of stew with all sorts of things. I would certainly not order that again. Some menu choices are therefore difficult to interpret. The food (pasta, meat, plate with meat and sausage types, potatoes and salad) was otherwise reasonable to good. The service is friendly. It was reasonably busy. The interior is not very special.
