03/12/2025: I didn’t have the chance to experience the food, as I arrived at 7:15 am after seeing on Google that breakfast opened at 7:00 am, only to be met with an unexpectedly rude reception. When I first asked at the hotel reception, a staff member informed me that the restaurant was open but that I needed to use the front entrance rather than the hotel entrance—which was completely fine. I mentioned that the front door wasn’t opening, and she appeared go to address it. I returned to wait outside with my 4-month-old baby and 3yo in the cold. After five minutes with no update, I went back to reception, only to find the door closed and to be met with abrupt, dismissive behaviour from another staff member. I explained that the door still wasn’t opening, and he replied that if it wasn’t open, they “weren’t ready yet,” and I would simply need to wait. When I said I would just go elsewhere, he seemed entirely unconcerned and shut the door in my face. If the opening time is listed as 7:00 am on Google and communicated as such to guests, it’s unclear why the response was so rude and unhelpful. My family and I would have happily visited more often during our time in Florence. What made the experience especially disappointing is that my husband and I stayed at the hotel before having children and loved our stay, but this visit has made us realise how judgemental they are because we weren’t guests. Honestly outraged at the behaviour and as somebody that works in the industry, will be sure to spread the word.

27/10/2025: Ristorante Il Antica Scuderia – absolutely top! 🍷🍝 Excellent food and wine, all perfectly prepared and served with a smile. The restaurant is very clean, the service professional and friendly. We really enjoyed the food – from appetizers to desserts, everything was delicious. A large selection of wines will please every gastronomy lover. Simply a restaurant with everything! I recommend it to everyone who loves good food, wine and honest cuisine. A great place for true gourmets. 👌🍷

02/11/2025: The best pizza in the world (not Neapolitan, but thin and crispy)! Rustic, homey atmosphere. We recommend taking your time and enjoying the evening in peace. The desserts are also excellent! Highly recommended!

02/11/2025: I went there with friends for dinner on a Saturday; the place was crowded and noisy. Service was quite slow. The appetizer was good, though. The pizza, on the other hand, was almost inedible in my opinion! The dough is machine-rolled and is incredibly thin, with almost completely charred edges and a soft, undercooked center! I didn't drink the barley I ordered instead of coffee; it smelled disgusting. I'm sorry, but I didn't feel well.

06/07/2025: Sono stato in questo ristorante con mia moglie per una cena senza glutine davvero speciale. Menu molto molto interessante e raffinato. Ambiente curato e personale gentilissimo rendono la cena una esperienza molto piacevole. Piatti ricercati e gustosi a dimostrazione che si può fare ristorazione senza glutine senza rinunciare al gusto. Punto di riferimento.

11/05/2025: Abbiamo festeggiato la comunione di nostra figlia a cena in questo ristorante da 10 e lode! Atmosfera intima con tutte le accortezze da parte del personale (preparatissimo)! Antipasti, straccetti al ragout bianco del casentino e filetto di cinta senese da sogno, sapori equilibrati ma allo stesso tempo intensi dell' alta qualità delle materie prime. Abbiamo optato per la torta preparata dalla Chef e che ha montato mentre mangiavamo il secondo piatto...non si poteva fare scelta migliore, è stata davvero la ciliegina che ha fatto concludere una cena degna di nota. Hanno particolare attenzione alle intolleranze, chi ne ha può stare tranquillo, mangia con gli stessi tempi degli altri invitati e, a detta dell' interessato, la qualità è stata notevole! Unico consiglio che mi sento di dare... Continuate così!!

17/10/2025: Coperto 3 Vongole 19.5 Scottona Ribeye (600g with bone) 29.5 Red House Wine Glass 8 x 2 Cheesecake & Strawberry Syrup 7 58.2 with 30% The Pork - I didn't expect much from the vongole, but it was incredibly delicious. - The clams were generous and well-cooked, so no sand. - I ordered medium, so the steak was cooked perfectly. - The seasoning and meaty flavor were especially great (just what I wanted). - The portions were large, so it took a while to finish, which was a shame. - The desserts seemed to come from frozen, so I didn't expect much. - I was worried about racism, but the waiters were all professional and friendly. There were some negative reviews about the curly-haired waitress, but luckily, I didn't experience any issues, so I guess that's understandable.

17/10/2025: Rooms were nice and clean. Service was very attentive. Breakfast was very "Italian." I would have expected a bit more here. Everything was delicious and prepared with love. I understand that a buffet doesn't really make sense for such a small hotel, but perhaps a small mini-buffet with jams and cereals, yogurt, etc., along with the "house specialties" would have been more optimal for me.

29/10/2025: Excellent dinner, all the dishes were carefully prepared, and the Florentine steak was excellent (admittedly, we're not experts). We made a reservation and I recommend it to everyone; the place is small.

26/10/2025: ✨ Al Tranvai – A Hidden Gem in Florence We first discovered Al Tranvai completely by accident during our first visit to Florence. We had planned to dine at a nearby restaurant that turned out to have an impossibly long wait, and my husband — taking charge of his wife’s hanger emergency — stumbled into Al Tranvai instead. The restaurant was cozy and bustling, but managed to seat us without too much of a wait. We sat outside, close to neighboring tables filled mostly with locals. Two Italian gentlemen at the next table struck up a conversation with us, and we soon learned that one of them was a chef at another nearby restaurant. That was our first clue that we had landed somewhere special. They were so gracious, helping us navigate the handwritten Italian menu and even sharing some of their dishes with us. We bravely sampled a local specialty — kidneys — not quite to our taste, but when in Rome (or Florence!), right? My husband and I shared a few Tuscan classics: ribollita (a hearty white bean and bread soup with vegetables), arrabbiata linguine, and peposo, a slow-braised beef with black pepper and red wine. Each dish was simple yet full of soul — proof that great food doesn’t need to be complicated. We decided to secretly pay for our new friends’ meal along with ours. When they found out, they surprised us in return with a bottle of their favorite wine to take home — a gesture we’ll never forget. It was a truly magical evening. A year later, we were lucky enough to return to Florence. I chose Al Tranvai as the place to meet my Italian cousin for the very first time. The restaurant was just as warm and charming as we remembered, and the meal just as wonderful. I hope we can keep coming back to recreate the incredible memories we’ve made here.
