24/08/2024: We had dinner in a special location, clean and quiet. Excellent service. Excellent food even if not 5 star, because in an "Osteria" you expect to drink loose wine, local even if of a more frivolous quality, this type of wine identifies the place. So bottled wine is fine, but I prefer a local table wine

23/08/2024: Quiet place to eat real local food and typical dishes. The outdoor space under the vineyard is very suggestive, not crowded and overlooks a small square with typical buildings (not on a belvedere). Friendly and helpful staff, even with our dog. We spent the right amount and left very satisfied! There is a car park very close by.

15/08/2024: Beautiful restaurant, but the gem is the pasta with pistachio and red prawns. A gluten and lactose free dish that makes every single ingredient explode in your mouth!!!! Delicious food guaranteed by every celiac taste bud!! Very good and very kind!!!!

15/08/2024: I passed quickly, unfortunately I didn't have time to stop for lunch. I took a piece of pizza with cherry tomatoes and mozzarella.... Special, very good in fact my children also ate it. Congratulations, if I return to Matera I will be happy to stop.

03/09/2024: We were really looking forward to this meal after reading other reviews however for the price both the food and service weren’t as good as we expected. The outlook from our table was gorgeous, but not enough to lean on. My wine didn’t arrive until midway through my starter and I was never asked if I wanted a refill. Even eating 3 courses we weren’t full. The flavours and quality of ingredients also weren’t what we were hoping for from the description. Overall disappointing.

27/08/2024: Very courteous and friendly staff. Requests always satisfied with great ease. Excellent cuisine and some dishes are found in local cuisine. Eating on the terrace, with that view of the stones, is priceless. At the end of dinner, to finish, visit the cellar with photos and historical finds of the place.

26/08/2024: We hadn't booked and they rightly had to give us a table out of the way. Then due to cancellation of a reservation They gave us a table in the front row (very kind they could have cared and instead..), therefore a table with a view. Very kind, smiling and friendly waiters, I can only give a positive comment. Excellent food.

16/08/2024: Sommes tombés par hasard sur ce restaurant qui au premier abord n’attire pas l’œil du client… car place au milieu de la grande via touristique… bref mais une fois installé, le patron parlant français nous conseille en fonction de nos envies et la c’est la découverte, l’entrée , ou plat et dessert sont succulents ! Ça vaut le coup de s’arrêter et on ne regrette pas ! bravo nous recommandons sans réserve 🤩 nous avons manger ailleurs dans un restaurant mieux classé le jour suivant, mais Osteria San Francesco est de loin le meilleur des 2 🫶parole de Français épicurien 👍

23/08/2024: Pranzo veloce a due passi dai sassi. Personale super gentile e attento a spiegare il menù. L'unica cosa che non comprendo è il pagamento del coperto se la piadina viene fornita su un tagliere di legno, senza posato e pure sporco di grasso e chicchi di pomodori di pasti precedenti. Piadina buona, ma poco farcita.

04/09/2024: I wouldn't go back even for free Poor starter, I order a bottle of wine asking for it 3/4 times and it finally arrives after finishing the starters... okay... we wait for a second course and a pizza... the second course for my girlfriend arrives I wait for the pizza and after 10 minutes I see the waiter go out but it's not for me, he takes her to the next table who arrived half an hour after me and already full of starters... consequently I ask why I was waiting for the pizza as my girlfriend finished the second course and the table arrived after me Do you already have pizza served with the appetizers? The girl at the table replies to me by saying that she was the owner and therefore makes me understand that she would have precedence over the others and so the owner also confirms to me with a "bold" air saying that the girl is his sister, therefore everything is normal as it arrives he sits and goes ahead of everyone. Staff in disarray, the only good thing I was served was perhaps water.

30/08/2024: It was my first time in Matera with my family and our friends. We stayed in this structure where our room, at the time, was a house inhabited by a family, carved out of stones. The residence is truly very beautiful and with attention to the smallest details in which all the rooms are carved out of the stones overlooking a small village. The breakfast is excellent where you can find both sweet and savory options. I want to thank the owner for her kindness and professionalism. Thanks, see you next time!!!

24/08/2024: We had a room with a huge smell. I think it was moisture, the mold is also present in the bathroom. The shower did not give much water. The reception was not very accessible, so we did not even bother to discuss it for 2 nights. The sheets smelled really bad and were full of stains. The towels had the same smell and some had holes. At breakfast the first time I got a burnt coffee (??), the salami and cheese had a strange taste. Besides that nasty experience, the location is great. Personally, I feel like we paid €100 too much at €170/night.
