03/01/2026: This review is for a dinner for two. The atmosphere is nice, a typical restaurant in the Sassi district. There's a limited selection of pizzas, but they're all delicious, including the one we chose. It's among the best we've had in Matera. The downside of the evening was the service. There was an excessive wait to order, and even worse after finishing the pizza. We waited a bit too long for dessert, which arrived a bit too late. Likewise, a couple of tourists at the table next to us left because of the excessive wait. Not good. One improvement I'd suggest is better communication among the staff (which probably needs to be improved on nights like this).

12/01/2026: We highly recommend it, especially for the quality of the food and the refined flavors. The courtesy and location are the icing on the cake. Excellent dishes for celiacs and non-celiacs alike! We will plan another trip and return!

05/01/2026: Very convenient location: not exactly in the hustle and bustle of the historic center, but still very close. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, clean and bright. The owner is very kind but discreet. There aren't many tables, so reservations are essential or you risk being left empty-handed. The menu doesn't offer a huge number of dishes, but they're small, well-prepared, and tasty. It's obviously a matter of taste, but we liked it. The price we paid was fair. If it were in my city, I'd go back. Congratulations!

15/03/2026: Ambrosia Hellenic is a wonderful place... We felt pampered by the flavors of true Greece both in the dishes and in the welcome from the managers, it really seems like being in a tavern in Greece, the same atmosphere, tavern managed by Spyros and his wife in an excellent and familiar way, dishes prepared by the owner with great care and attention, quality products and dishes with a unique flavor, we enjoyed it very much and we spent the right amount, what can I say, we will return as soon as possible because Greece has entered my heart and thanks to this tavern in Ferrandina I can go there whenever I want without having to take the plane

08/04/2026: Right in the heart of Matera, a refined atmosphere, tasty and beautifully presented dishes. A good wine list. Reasonable prices, friendly staff. A small terrace overlooking the Sassi. Recommended.

08/04/2026: The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was attentive. The setting perfectly captures the spirit of Matera. It's like being in a sassi (ancient fortified settlement). It's cool inside, ideal for when it's very hot outside.

08/04/2026: We used google map to see the restaurant scored 4.4 I had the spaghetti carbonara, it was a good sized potion not to big, and my husband enjoyed a pizza, the staff were attentive and friendly, we also enjoyed a member of staff showing us the restaurant as it has a huge well inside, and was told the history of the building.

11/04/2026: My experience at this restaurant was excellent. Everything was perfect, from the welcome to the background music, to the magical and evocative atmosphere. The staff was helpful and kind. The menu was varied and refined. The dishes were exquisite and carefully presented. Highly recommended.

11/04/2026: What a beautiful restaurant! We loved our meal - not only was the food delicious but the service was excellent. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I had to cod with the white chocolate sauce and it was delicious - not something I have ever tried before. The setting is truly unique.

30/04/2026: Food was really lovely and setting was incredible. Unfortunately some of the staff seemed a little disinterested, then rather pointedly asked for a tip when we were paying (which we did, but the way it was handled was a little out of keeping with what we’d expect for the calibre of the restaurant). We were also charged for 2 glasses of expensive champagne rather than the 2 glasses of red wine we’d had. I’d actually asked our waiter for a recommendation on the wine and what he suggested was so lovely that I asked for the name of it so I could try to have it again in the future, but they put off giving this to me several times. I only found out about the charging issue on googling the “wine” on our receipt after we’d left as I wanted to purchase it! Hopefully this was a simple mistake rather than a deliberate overcharging, but the refusal to tell me the name of the wine they’d given us does make me wonder… Overall lovely food and setting but the service left a lot to be desired and there are numerous restaurants with this quality of food in Matera, so I probably wouldn’t revisit sadly.

14/04/2026: We had wanted to dine on the outdoor terrace, but due to bad weather, we ended up dining inside. The kind Mr. Paulo guided us to a window seat. His service was excellent, and he gave us great recommendations for the dishes we wanted, allowing us to have a truly delicious dinner. The cod dish was especially delicious. Mr. Paulo was perfect and kind, offering great recommendations and even saying goodbye in Korean at the end. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was wonderful; I highly recommend it! 👍👍
