A stay in a charming accommodation in a unique place in the world. Sleeping while imagining the lives of people in small spaces, raising their children and earning a living, makes you reflect. The accommodation is very comfortable, the bathroom is excellent, the breakfast is great, and the girls at reception give great tips. Suggestion: pack light, use a backpack (a wheeled suitcase here is crazy), comfortable shoes, and a hat is essential. If you come by car, leave it in the Via Saragat parking lot; it's covered, very affordable, and you can walk to the sassi or take a bus that drops you off very close.

The bed was a bit hard for our preference, but staying in a cave is incredible and the experience will never be forgotten. There was a very large selection for breakfast and they catered to my gluten-free needs, upon prior request. They had fresh honeycomb and fresh homemade yogurt.

Sleeping in one of their rooms is truly an amazing experience. Their interior garden is intimate and offers some shade, they offer fluffy towels & slippers + anything you could need for the bathroom. Also the breakfast was great, lots of great pastry, savoury options + fresh honeycomb. Beware that the humidity in the rooms is pretty high. Very close to the important things to visit in Matera. We were a group of 7 girls and we had a huge, long room with comfy beds for everyone & 3 bathrooms. PS: The hotel isn't that far from the parking lot but be prepared with some comfy shoes and a backpack, not a suitcase, ideally.

My partner and I spent a couple of nights here while visiting Matera. The property is family-run and staffed by kind and professional people, who also provided us with useful information about visiting the city. The room was well-appointed with a desk and refrigerator. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and we could easily adjust the temperature (we didn't experience any problems with cold, humidity, or mold, as I've read in other reviews). The breakfast (we requested vegan breakfast in advance) was delicious, and we also appreciated the variety of organic products. I recommend it both for its location in the center of the Sassi of Matera and because the experience of sleeping in a cave is a must!

The rooms are quaint and typical of the area. Each room tells a story of who once lived there. For those who are used to it, there's no TV in these rooms—at least mine! Which makes everything more authentic.
