Four of us had a wonderful dinner here. The food was delicious.

My husband and I ate at this restaurant last night beautifully set in a Sassi Cave. The food was incredible! The sauces, pastas and meat dishes were wonderfully cooked to perfection. The chef and cook put their heart and soul into their craft and you could taste it in every bite! I would highly recommend having dinner here when in Matera!!

We dined at La Talpa restaurant in Matera, and it was a truly special experience, one that stays in your heart.
The atmosphere here is unique: the restaurant, carved into the Sassi, is charming and authentic, perfect for immersing yourself in the history and tradition of the area. But the real highlight is the cuisine.
Eating at La Talpa is like returning to grandma's house on a Sunday: authentic dishes, rich in flavor, and prepared with love. Each course reflects Lucanian tradition, with simple yet exquisite ingredients. Authentic, intense flavors that take you back in time.
The service is welcoming and warm, just as you'd expect in a place so tied to tradition.
An authentic return to the flavors of yesteryear, in a unique setting. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back!

It wasn't just a dinner, but an unforgettable sensory journey. Dishes that are true works of art, incredible flavors that tell the story of Matera with love and passion. Special thanks to the staff: impeccable service, warm and full of 'nammìre' (passion).
As we say in Matera: 'U màngià è n'àrte!' (Jedzenie to sztuka!).
Thank you so much for this magical evening. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We ate there on the first night of our stay in Matera, recommended by a couple of people. The prices were average for a restaurant—it's not a trattoria—and we spent €110 for two. There was a bit of a mix-up with our table, as the one assigned to us was already taken, but they quickly found an alternative. We ordered two appetizers, two first courses, dried solcetti, wine, and a passito.
The traditional peppers were truly delicious and unique; we didn't particularly like the pumpkin parmigiana; it tasted strongly of fried egg, which completely covered the flavor of the pumpkin. The two first courses were fantastic: orecchiette with turnip tops, anchovies, breadcrumbs, and crumbled peppers, and the strascinati with a cream of cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, and chestnuts—a unique delight.
We were disappointed that there were no house sweets or bitters, only biscuits or dry sweets and Amaro Lucano. All in all it was a great experience and I would gladly go back, perhaps to try the pizza.

A quaint place, with a friendly and welcoming waiter, and a somewhat unsympathetic owner. We ordered traditional dishes and pizza, which arrived at our table after a reasonable wait. The quality of the food, however, doesn't justify the high price.

I went for dinner. I ate both dishes from the kitchen and the pizza. Everything was good, but I'll be back for the pizza. A very characteristic place in the Sassi.
