17/02/2026: My partner and I spent a couple of nights here while visiting Matera.
The property is family-run and staffed by kind and professional people, who also provided us with useful information about visiting the city.
The room was well-appointed with a desk and refrigerator. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and we could easily adjust the temperature (we didn't experience any problems with cold, humidity, or mold, as I've read in other reviews).
The breakfast (we requested vegan breakfast in advance) was delicious, and we also appreciated the variety of organic products.
I recommend it both for its location in the center of the Sassi of Matera and because the experience of sleeping in a cave is a must!
21/01/2026: The rooms are quaint and typical of the area. Each room tells a story of who once lived there. For those who are used to it, there's no TV in these rooms—at least mine! Which makes everything more authentic.

16/02/2026: Very nice, charming rooms with classic furnishings. Breakfast was excellent, offering everything from savory to sweet. The desserts were made entirely by the owner, who was also incredibly kind. What can I say? A wonderful experience!
06/01/2026: We stayed over New Year's Eve. Everything was very quaint, the room was wonderful, inside a beautifully furnished stone building. We had a wonderful time, from the welcome to the comfort of the building, with a dream view as soon as you step out of the room. Highly recommended.

Terrible experience. I ordered a pork chop and was served a piece of meat that was clearly defrosted (and badly defrosted) in taste and texture. The serious problem is that the menu didn't have any asterisks or indications that it was frozen.
Paying for fresh food and eating frozen food that wasn't marked is not only a disservice, it's disrespectful to the customer and an unfair business practice. The meat was inedible. Not recommended for those looking for honesty and quality.
18/11/2025: We stumbled upon this restaurant in the historic center of Matera by chance, and I must say we were lucky after having rejected at least four other restaurants that didn't inspire confidence in our search for local, homemade delicacies.
Excellent welcome from the kind and attentive waiter...
We don't know his name, but he was Venezuelan and exuded great empathy and professionalism.
Excellent, authentically Lucanian and homemade food, as shown in the attached photo.
Cavatelli alla Lucana and Lucanian sausage.
Ash-crusted potato.
We recommend it.

04/11/2025: Dinner with my wife, fantastic seafood scialatielli, definitely the best I've ever had. The pizza was also excellent, while my wife had sole and, according to her, was satisfied. The house white wine was decent and well-suited to the seafood. The service was informal but not intrusive. If you arrive early or, better yet, make a reservation, you can dine on the terrace. The price was more than fair. I can't rate the hotel as I only had dinner there, but I can say that the hotel guests who were there for dinner seemed satisfied.

01/01/2026: Don't let the '80s look fool you. The staff is super friendly and very dedicated to their customers. Prices are in line with downtown. I felt right at home, kudos to the waiters 👏
11/10/2025: We had dinner with friends, and the meal was decent. What surprised me was the price!
The restaurant has retained its vintage style but has updated its prices to match those of the best Michelin-starred restaurants.

12/03/2026: A place that presents itself as a temple to local products, but which, in reality, turns out to be little more than a trattoria with Michelin-starred prices and decidedly average quality.
The most emblematic moment? When asking for a little spicy food, after much rhetoric about local ingredients, a small industrial-strength supermarket bottle produced in another region appears on the table.
If this is how local products are promoted...

04/04/2026: Small portions, pasta overcooked, perhaps the worst restaurant we've been to during our trip. We tried the lasagna, special one, the spaguettis with tomatoe sauce, and the meat balls. There are much better options in the same street.

21/03/2026: We went in just for a coffe. They recommended a tradicional desert wich was quite tasty, but they dont have lactose free milk. I think 20 euros for a double espresso, a cappucino and a zeppola is quite pricy and the service was also nothing special.

22/07/2025: Abbiamo trascorso una serata durante la settimana con amici, siamo rimasti molto delusi dalla lunga (40 minuti circa)attesa delle pizze visto che la pizzeria era quasi vuota e dal prezzo finale. La location è tipica dei sassi e la pizza è 4 su 5 come voto.
Abbiamo pagato 13€ cadauna per una birra artigianale e 30€ per 10 sporca musso. Diciamo che abbiamo considerato il prezzo finale alto.
Inoltre nell'attesa delle pizze abbiamo notato che il proprietario tra una comanda e l'altra stava mangiando accanto a noi, scena poco cortese per un cliente. Sicuramente la prossima volta eviteremo questo locale.
20/06/2025: Service pitoyable commande prise 1 h après notre arrivée, amabilité zéro , le premier mange et le dernier mange 45 mn plus tard ...nul .
