12/05/2026: A stay in a charming accommodation in a unique place in the world. Sleeping while imagining the lives of people in small spaces, raising their children and earning a living, makes you reflect. The accommodation is very comfortable, the bathroom is excellent, the breakfast is great, and the girls at reception give great tips. Suggestion: pack light, use a backpack (a wheeled suitcase here is crazy), comfortable shoes, and a hat is essential. If you come by car, leave it in the Via Saragat parking lot; it's covered, very affordable, and you can walk to the sassi or take a bus that drops you off very close.
28/04/2026: The bed was a bit hard for our preference, but staying in a cave is incredible and the experience will never be forgotten.
There was a very large selection for breakfast and they catered to my gluten-free needs, upon prior request. They had fresh honeycomb and fresh homemade yogurt.

06/05/2026: Delightful restaurant/pizzeria. A bit off the beaten path, but don't skip this restaurant. Very friendly service. Good wine, fantastic thin and crispy pizzas, and to finish, a limoncello and espresso on the house. All this for a reasonable price. Just go.
05/05/2026: A fantastic experience this evening at the restaurant "da mario 2.0"... The food was absolutely delicious, especially the platter with many high-quality cured meats and cheeses! The service was impeccable! Roberto and Tatia were very attentive and offered excellent recommendations. We thank chef Vito for his creative and tasty dishes! The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing evening. We can't wait to return!

23/05/2026: Very disappointing experience.
The room was extremely damp and humid, to the point where the environment felt unhealthy and uncomfortable to sleep in.
The situation became even worse at checkout, when the staff refused to provide an invoice. We had to argue for a long time before receiving a handwritten document.
The staff was rude and confrontational instead of trying to solve the issue professionally.
I would not recommend this property.
20/03/2026: In my opinion, the points in its favor are: the breakfast (excellent and plentiful), the location (not too crowded and not far from the main streets and squares), the friendliness and kindness of the owner.

07/05/2026: A very positive experience. Finally, a piadineria unlike any other, where, in addition to speed, there's also attention to flavors and combinations. The piadinas are well-filled, freshly prepared, and truly flavorful, with ingredients that make all the difference.
The atmosphere is casual yet pleasant, ideal for a lunch stop or an evening snack while exploring the center of Matera. I especially appreciated the friendliness of the staff and the care taken in preparing each order.
Satisfying portions, reasonable prices, and superior quality compared to many other similar establishments. A place that leaves a good impression and is worth a try.

04/11/2025: Dinner with my wife, fantastic seafood scialatielli, definitely the best I've ever had. The pizza was also excellent, while my wife had sole and, according to her, was satisfied. The house white wine was decent and well-suited to the seafood. The service was informal but not intrusive. If you arrive early or, better yet, make a reservation, you can dine on the terrace. The price was more than fair. I can't rate the hotel as I only had dinner there, but I can say that the hotel guests who were there for dinner seemed satisfied.

12/03/2026: A place that presents itself as a temple to local products, but which, in reality, turns out to be little more than a trattoria with Michelin-starred prices and decidedly average quality.
The most emblematic moment? When asking for a little spicy food, after much rhetoric about local ingredients, a small industrial-strength supermarket bottle produced in another region appears on the table.
If this is how local products are promoted...

26/06/2026: Very expensive meal for very poor quality. The pasta with baccalà was practically devoid of baccalà and completely tasteless. Avoid at all costs...
20/06/2026: Horrible service. Some "thing" with a bad attitude basically threw us out of the restaurante because we didn't want to swallow our food - according to them, they accepted a reservation in 15 minutes and we had to finish - even after they sat us down.
Owners apologized and offered us to sit us again, but the reason we came was because my daughter was celiac and wanted a Lasagna with Glutten, which she could not eat

01/05/2026: The bathrooms are small and it's better if I don't mention the smell, the dishes are so small that I prefer to fast, between one dish and the next if things go well and the DJ doesn't start Saturday night fever you have to wait 3 hours, thank goodness at least the bread is good

02/06/2026: A terrible experience in almost every way. The pizza was truly embarrassing: heavy, undercooked dough, sparse and flavorless toppings, far from what you'd expect from a pizzeria. All of this at an absurd and completely unjustified price. Paying so much for such a low-quality product truly leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.
The restrooms were also in unacceptable conditions: dirty, neglected, and unsanitary. A detail that speaks volumes about the care given to the place and its customers.
The only positive note was the waitress: kind, smiling, and professional. If it weren't for her, the experience would have been completely forgettable. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, and I don't recommend this place.
31/05/2026: We ordered drinks and only then were we told we HAD to eat something, so we were kicked out and weren't allowed to drink our drinks BUT we had to pay. What a rip-off!!!

03/05/2026: Gorgeous spot for lunch, along the gorge, with great views. All tables have umbrellas, but you might still be in the sun.
Waitress got our order wrong, but we weren't in a hurry, so we didn't mind. Food was excellent. Very simple, but fresh & quality ingredients (Caprese Salad to share, & a pizza each)
Limoncello spritz very good!
Note: Google maps initially sent us to a location in the town centre, but I'd passed this yesterday, & knew where it was. It's on Via Lucano. It's a few metres away from the ticket office / entry to the Murgia Park hike. Perfect spot if you've just done the hike!

22/07/2025: Abbiamo trascorso una serata durante la settimana con amici, siamo rimasti molto delusi dalla lunga (40 minuti circa)attesa delle pizze visto che la pizzeria era quasi vuota e dal prezzo finale. La location è tipica dei sassi e la pizza è 4 su 5 come voto.
Abbiamo pagato 13€ cadauna per una birra artigianale e 30€ per 10 sporca musso. Diciamo che abbiamo considerato il prezzo finale alto.
Inoltre nell'attesa delle pizze abbiamo notato che il proprietario tra una comanda e l'altra stava mangiando accanto a noi, scena poco cortese per un cliente. Sicuramente la prossima volta eviteremo questo locale.
20/06/2025: Service pitoyable commande prise 1 h après notre arrivée, amabilité zéro , le premier mange et le dernier mange 45 mn plus tard ...nul .
