Excellent experience dining at this restaurant, the service was impeccable. Server and sommelier extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We ate there May 14th. Would definitely recommend!

The best beef I ate on my fifth day in Italy!

The waiters were very enthusiastic, and even spoke and learned some Taiwanese on the spot. If a Taiwanese girl hears a waiter call her "Shui-guniang" (水姑娘), it's because I taught her.

Dining at Baccanti is a surreal experience. The setting inside the historic Sassi caves provides a quiet, romantic hush that makes the meal feel special before the first plate even arrives. The menu is a thoughtful balance of rustic Materan tradition and modern technique. The lamb dishes were standout—perfectly tender and seasoned—and the wine list is extensive enough to impress any enthusiast. A must-visit for a polished dinner in the heart of the stone city.

This place is one of the best meals we had in Italy. All the Italian traditional dishes but elevated with the best local ingredients. The place is super beautiful, the wine list is insane, and more importantly the staff is fantastic and so attentive. The quality to price ratio is also great. Highly recommended.

I don't often leave reviews, but this time it was truly necessary. This restaurant left us speechless, and coming from someone who works in the industry, I think it's even more so, knowing full well the sacrifices this profession requires. The location is simply stunning and needs no further explanation. We booked for my partner's birthday and were kindly moved to a table in the small cave, a detail that made the evening even more special and intimate. The dishes were all excellent: traditional flavors, but with a modern and refined twist. Without a doubt, the best dinner of our entire vacation in Matera... and we tried several restaurants. A special thanks to the tall waiter with gray/white hair (unfortunately, I don't know his name). Someone like that really makes the difference. Kind, brilliant, always with a quick wit, he made a decisive contribution to making the experience perfect. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening, one we will remember for a long time. Honestly, it's hard to understand how anyone could leave a negative review for a place like this: the food, service, and atmosphere are truly impeccable.

A very good meal in a vaulted room. The dishes were excellent and the service was top-notch. Note that the restaurant offers gluten-free bread.
