07/08/2025: After two weeks in Taormina, we discovered this hidden gem on our last day and what a wonderful surprise! The warm, welcoming atmosphere created by the kind family who runs the place made us feel right at home. The food was exactly what we needed: comforting and full of flavor. The vegetable soup was absolutely delicious, the lamb cotoletta was tender and perfectly cooked, and the tagliatelle and swordfish rolls were just fantastic. On top of all that, the prices were the best we found in Taormina — great quality without the tourist mark-up. I only wish we had found this place sooner! Highly recommended.

25/08/2025: The kebab was really delicious and plentiful. They make their own piadina, and you can taste the difference. The staff is super friendly. I'll definitely be back!

16/09/2025: We weren't exactly happy with this restaurant. The pappardelle with wild boar was very pale, the sauce was missing, and the tagliata was just a thin slice of meat, nothing like tagliata. It was a disappointment, I must say.

22/10/2025: Michelin star restaurant so has a high bar and it did not disappoint. Extensive wine list, impeccable service, and steller dishes. Amuse bouche to start, great bread basket, appetizers were on point and main dishes were very flavorful and surprisingly not overly petite. Small dessert tray and lemoncello shots to end the night. They have several different dining options and we were recommended the patio which is BEAUTIFUL. However, we were seated at the end of the patio and did not know it is also a public walkway. We had people walking past us looking at us and our food throughout the night which was a little awkward and tiring. If you sit outside, make sure to not get seated on the end by the corner.

21/10/2025: From the moment we stepped in, the host welcomed us with such warmth; I instantly felt at home. Then came Chef Pepe kind, humble, and full of heart. He said, “Tell me what you feel like eating ; even if it’s not on the menu, I’ll make it for you.” It wasn’t just dinner; it was pure emotion. I felt like a child again; sitting in my grandfather’s kitchen; surrounded by love, comfort, and the scent of something wonderful being made just for me. Each plate was a masterpiece; crafted with passion, precision, and soul. Every flavor told a story, every bite carried warmth. The waiter’s kindness completed the experience; it felt like family, gathered around the table after years apart. Il Buco isn’t just a restaurant; it’s home, heart, and passion served on a plate, a place where food becomes art, and emotion becomes flavor.

06/10/2025: I read a fairly recent review by "Yolanda" saying this place gave 5-star gluten free food with amazing service and atmosphere. That is a total lie. I asked for gluten free options and they said "Salad?". Then offered sausage and potatoes. The sausage was horribly dry and overcooked. The salad was iceberg lettuce with pizza toppings. The potatoes were decent but drowned in olive oil. I appreciate them trying, though. My wife had a regular Quattro Stagione pizza which she said was decent. Service was brusque, almost to the point of rudeness. We arrived at the restaurant on a cold night wanting to sit inside and were brought to the back of the building to a covered rooftop patio with a few small heaters, where everyone was eating with their winter jackets on while the restaurant below was empty. A bit of a head scratcher. If you're gluten free (I'm Celiac), try your luck somewhere else, but if you can eat regular pizza, this place was turning tables away as they were so busy, so that must mean something!

07/09/2025: A great insider tip! Great Italian restaurant! You wouldn't even notice it if you drove past. We went there twice during our vacation. The atmosphere is fantastic! It's very cozy and decorated with attention to detail. The food is very high quality and very reasonably priced. There's a very large wine selection. The service is very friendly, which was resolved with Google Translate despite some language difficulties. If we're ever in the area again, we'd love to come back. Thank you for a wonderful evening. 05/10/2025: The pizza and first course had high-sounding names but ultimately mediocre ingredients, the flavorful pasta served on a huge plate, and the pizza was nothing special. The place's open doors let in a draft, so we had to leave urgently. A lot of smoke and no fire.
