21/10/2025: A refuge in a stunning location, a quaint, warm, and welcoming place, and more than delicious food. The menu is raved about by the very friendly staff, but they always forget to display the prices... crafty, considering the place isn't exactly cheap! We waited almost an hour for a plate of carpaccio that was supposedly ready, but the entrees arrived immediately... kitchen mysteries! I'd happily return, though.

On a Livigno scale – the food is delicious! Each dish is refined, with fresh ingredients and flavors that stay in your memory. I wholeheartedly recommend it, a good place for a relaxing evening.

15/10/2025: Le Motte Restaurant: Not a warm welcome They were almost annoyed because we were the first to arrive and it looked like the staff was still eating lunch. Aside from that, we ordered: - Appetizer: charcuterie board and sciatt. - First/Second Courses: Pizzoccheri superb, Polenta taragna with chanterelles and porcini mushrooms, very good, Roe deer stew with fries (perhaps the roe deer tasted too much like wine, but it was good), and Polenta taragna with veal morsels, sausage, and casera cheese, very good. We didn't get to dessert. Ate well.

08/12/2025: We ate really well and the service was excellent. The only flaw is that the time slots for first and second sittings were well spaced out (2 hours), so we had plenty of time to enjoy dinner.

13/09/2025: Delicious dinner! Four of us had dinner at this beautiful restaurant with a truly enchanting atmosphere! The risottos were excellent, especially the blueberry one and the Sassella risotto with bresaola! The desserts were delicious, the cheesecake was amazing! The waiters were very kind, knowledgeable, fast, and always smiling! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!!!

06/12/2025: Fabulous pizzoccheri! Order them when you book your table. I recommend ordering a larger portion because they contacted them and the dishes aren't very generous. Good selection of grappas. Service is a bit confusing. Still, worth a try.

23/11/2025: A very crowded place, synonymous with good food. After a long wait, we were able to enjoy typical local dishes, which confirmed our initial impression. The sciatt were very good, and the portions were generous enough to fully appreciate their flavor. The mezzemaniche with wild boar ragù were exceptional! The flavor was strong, making you want to finish the whole plate. Congratulations!

20/09/2025: Very convenient location, just a two-minute drive from the center of Bormio, convenient for walking to several nearby attractions. A very nice breakfast room, large and spacious room. The TV could be bigger, and perhaps turning the heating up a little every now and then wouldn't hurt. Convenient parking is available, and the common area is very nice. The breakfast was varied and good, and the problem we had with the room was resolved unexpectedly well. We were very pleased.

04/09/2025: My 6-year-old son and I vacationed here in July; the location and services far exceeded our expectations: exceptional rooms, a relaxed and peaceful atmosphere, and incredibly kind staff. A perfect choice, especially for families, with private rooms with bathrooms and communal areas perfect for spending time even on rainy days. The hotel's location also allows for walks suitable for small children, and there are countless experiences of all kinds nearby: walks with alpacas; high-altitude bobsleigh rides; educational farms; hikes in breathtaking locations; and bike rides. We were very satisfied and happy with our experience, and what can we say about the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, the bartender, and especially the delicious dishes from the chef, who was ready to satisfy every request? A highly recommended vacation experience. Thanks again!

21/09/2025: I only know this place as a restaurant. A pleasant surprise in many ways. First of all, the ambiance: it's a visual feast to dine in the original, perfectly preserved stube, with its coffered ceiling and elegantly decorated period wood paneling. The menu features traditional local dishes, well-executed and rich in flavor. The service, led by a young, cheerful staff, is informal yet very attentive. The price will pleasantly surprise you; it's no coincidence that the place is very popular, making reservations essential.

21/09/2025: August 2022: On a hike along the Via Spluga, we stayed overnight at the Albergo Cardinello. The owner, Martino, warmly welcomed us in very good German. We had a brand new room, furnished with lots of wood, with a shower and toilet, and very good quality beds. Before dinner, we were served an aperitif together with the other guests and listened to an interesting lecture by Martino on the history of the house. On our way to the dining room, we were given a tour of the house. The set dinner in the historic guest rooms was delicious and absolutely excellent value for money. After a hearty breakfast by Italian standards, we continued our journey to Chiavenna, well rested and refreshed. September 2025: We were hiking the Via Spluga again and, based on our positive experience in 2022, stayed again at the Albergo Cardinello. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The welcome described above, with an aperitif and tour of the house by the now very elderly owner, Martino, no longer exists. In contrast to our last stay, we were given a room in an annex of extremely mediocre quality. The room was more like an attic, very small and cramped, the bathroom poorly lit, the beds very soft, there wasn't even a chair in the room and only a bedside lamp. Dinner and breakfast were very good, just as they were three years ago. Given our poor experience with the room, we will not stay there again on future hikes.

07/11/2025: I recommend this place to eat pizzoccheri, they are super, good house wine, very kind staff, I will also return with my family, it is worth it, really.

30/08/2025: I tried both the restaurant and the hotel: I had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was high-quality and practically all locally sourced; generous portions and French-style service. Very competitive prices!
