06/02/2026: Great food, excellent service and very reasonably priced which makes for a great evening out.

14/01/2026: Meeting with relatives. A pleasant atmosphere, quite noisy (since we were celebrating two birthdays and there were quite large groups). After dinner, later, there was music and dancing. We ate very well. I recommend booking.

04/01/2026: Excellent cafe with food on the main road. They offer good daily menus with a first course, second course, water, and coffee for €12. You have a choice of three first courses and three second courses. The quality is good, and the price is certainly fair and reasonable. Friendly, fast, and very helpful staff. Affordable atmosphere. Easy parking.

08/10/2025: Only 1 of 3 employees greeted me, these two girls make a bad impression on the place, a nice place, a large plate of pasta with meat sauce, coke on tap, coffee and water for €7, just feel sorry for the staff, I do the same job as them and even if you are not professional, at least you have to be kind!

28/08/2025: Negative. We stopped at 1:21 PM on a weekday at the end of August... the kitchen was already closed... and that's understandable... we asked for a sandwich for the kids... apparently they'd run out of bread...

21/08/2025: There is very little to choose from and the menus were very similar. The waitress is not very attentive, we had to ask for water three times. The dishes are generous, however.

24/10/2025: too many police officers called, they arrived about 3 times this month, rude customers and staff who admit everything without saying anything, a place to go PERHAPS in the morning for breakfast, but even there you would be greeted by poor service

12/09/2025: An experience not to be repeated! Today we went to this bar for an aperitivo and ordered three crodini. They arrived without even an appetizer, absolutely nothing. When I went to pay, I mentioned this to the cashier who served us, expecting to pay a little less than €3.50 each... but instead, they didn't even give us the €0.50 discount on the total, which came to €10.50, and I was paying with cash. The tables and chairs were not very clean; in short, I will never choose this bar again.

30/12/2025: Very kind and knowledgeable, I found the chairs I'd been looking for for months. Delivery was perfect, too!

27/11/2025: I purchased a truly poor-quality Dafne office chair at a decidedly high price. When I complained about a defective seat mesh and an unbearable noise, I was told they couldn't accept a return because the chair had already been assembled (impossible to detect defects without assembling it). As for the seat, they would send me the part by disassembling it from another chair (which they did) since they aren't made in Italy. Regarding the noise, they sent me a video from their supplier showing that the one in the showroom also made that noise, and that was right! To solve the problem, I've already purchased another chair with similar features elsewhere for less than half the price and it works perfectly. To be fair, I have to admit that the staff was kind, even if they didn't solve anything for me. It's a shame I can't attach the ridiculous video as evidence. Never again!

30/07/2025: A welcoming place, the atmosphere reflects the kindness and care of its owners. A perfect spot for a pleasant break in the enchanting Valnontey, overlooking the spectacular Gran Paradiso.

13/03/2026: Very mediocre food for the price. A dry pork chop topped with tasteless cheese and plain salad without any dressing or vegs for €20. The staff has a look on their face like they work in a penal colony, the service is thereafter.

23/02/2026: Second time in Courmayeur and second time at Le Vieux Pommier, it's best not to be greeted by the manager. She's really unpleasant. It's a real shame because the setting is lovely (apart from the very uncomfortable wooden chairs), the decor is nice, and the servers are friendly, which makes up for it. We'll probably go back because the children love this place...

22/02/2026: One star because less is impossible: I've never felt so uncomfortable during a business lunch. We brought clients to eat here and were treated condescendingly and rudely by the waiter (thin, dark-haired), who responded rudely to every normal request (for a glass of wine, for example), even rudely interrupting us at the end of the meal (when we were joking among ourselves about who paid the bill), snapping at us with a "If I tell you it's paid, it's paid, so don't joke about it!" 😕. We were all left in an awkward silence. Truly unspeakable treatment, no one from the company will ever return. I didn't ask to speak to a manager at the time just out of politeness since we were in the presence of clients.

14/03/2026: Highly recommended, I've ordered their pizza twice on Deliveroo, and it's nothing short of spectacular. Fresh ingredients, a light dough, and perfectly cooked. Highly recommended!

12/03/2026: A great simple place to eat tucked away next to the sports centre. We had pizza which was good, nice thin crust and well cooked with lots of options. Staff were very helpful plus not too expensive. Highly recommended.

21/08/2025: Very good address. Ideal location for hiking in this magnificent valley. Comfortable room, good food and very complete breakfast.

09/08/2025: Review for lunch only: The dishes were excellent, both the polenta with sausage and the fillet cooked in wine. The side fries were questionable, but we didn't order them; otherwise, we would have asked for a salad. Prices were normal and affordable. Huge portions. Excellent service: kindness, precision, and speed.

12/01/2026: What a fantastic little hotel!! The owner is so sweet, friendly, and hospitable. Nothing is too much trouble for her!! Truly SUPER!!

08/08/2025: Hotel: Rooms too noisy due to a club across the street that hosts late-night karaoke nights, 15 meters away (we had to wait until the evening was over to sleep). Breakfast consisted of dry cakes, coffee capsules, and limited savory options. Restaurant: We booked the restaurant because the location is nice; we had high expectations, but that wasn't the case. The basics of catering are lacking (no comment).

17/03/2026: There were nine of us, hungry and coming down from the high peaks. The welcome was fantastic, and the lunch consisted of exceptional minestrone verde, delicious and generous cheese and charcuterie platters, not to mention the house's exquisite blueberry tart. The owner's hospitality and unparalleled efficiency deserve special mention. We'll be back soon.

20/01/2026: The place is very nice, definitely a gold mine... but you can't have just one person behind the counter handling the cash register, making coffee, serving tables... etc. If you walk in at the wrong time, you might find someone in line ahead of you, but you might have to wait 10 minutes before your turn. I've never been there during lunch...

17/02/2026: It's not very nice and good, the tasteless meat and the starter are not very good and then not mixed.

26/10/2025: A very nice refuge, good food, but unfortunately, friendliness and courtesy aren't the managers' strong points. Furthermore, the prices are excessively high compared to other refuges in the area offering comparable service.

26/09/2025: I received a gift of an overnight stay for my wife and I, but for various reasons (including the unavailability of rooms in mid-July), I couldn't go. Only today did I discover (the website didn't mention it) that, unlike other refuges in the Valley, the Chaligne will close tomorrow. I asked if I could use the voucher next year, paying any difference due to the price increase, but I was told that the voucher is only valid for 2025 and therefore no longer usable. This response confirmed the numerous negative reviews about the management's behavior. They will certainly never see me again. TIP: AVOID PURCHASING OR GIVING GIFTS IF YOU ARE UNSURE YOU CAN USE THEM. In response to this review, I received an email from the owner advising me to organize myself better to use the gifts I received. I'll leave it up to the reader to decide on their behavior toward customers, which confirms several other reviews.
