10/04/2026: Day with friends, wonderful temperature, fascinating view.

06/04/2026: We set off from the Barmasc parking lot and walked through the woods along the stream until we reached the spot. We took a few minutes to enjoy the view and rest, then ordered our meal. We ate it on the lounge chairs overlooking Monte Rosa. The experience, food, and location were wonderful! Definitely worth a try!

07/03/2026: A must when you come to Champoluc!! The food, fresh and local, the service and the friendly atmosphere make it a fantastic restaurant. Try the foie gras, the steak with spec, the lard, the trout tartar, everything is delicious!!

20/03/2026: What can I say, an institution! If you're coming here thinking "I don't know what to eat," you've come to the wrong place. For 50 years, Marina has only been making polenta concia with stew and Valdostan soup with mixed grill, and there's no better place in the entire valley to eat soup! No frills, no frills, just authentic Valdostan food and excellent food! A must-visit if you're in the Ayas Valley.

21/02/2026: Didn’t sleep in the hotel but stayed nearby and came here for dinner. The staff are incredible, the food is exactly what you need after a day on the slopes. They send you the menu in the morning with what’s freshly made that day. A great place to eat if you’re in the area for local food!

13/04/2026: This was our first experience of Champoluc and what a little gem it is. The skiing was unbelievable and far exceeded our expectations as did the Hotel Castor. The welcome and friendliness of this family run hotel is just something you do not find in the big name hotels. The room we stayed in was modern and comfortable, the bar was very cosy and the shuttle service was very much appreciated. Nothing seemed to be a problem and we will definitely be back.....

Prices are on the higher side, but consistent with the high-altitude location and tourist setting. Overall, a recommended stop for those looking to enjoy a satisfying meal during a day on the slopes, while taking in a truly outstanding location.

30/01/2026: A place outside of time, outside of civilization. The feeling of experiencing a special, almost suspended moment in a wonderful setting. The rooms are beautiful, the food is excellent, the place is magical. Go without hesitation.

15/01/2026: What a brilliant hotel. This is a real mountain experience tucked away in a tiny hamlet, with a really authentic (albeit luxury) feel to it. It felt totally unique. A great experience, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the rooms wonderful (very log cabin), delicious food and great wine. It’s a short drive to the skiing in Champoluc in the hotel shuttle/AWD down a snowy road - all part of the experience. I would also recommend the snowshoe excursions - we did two with guide Nerinka who (along with everyone else) was excellent.

14/03/2026: After a long day of skiing, we spotted this cute place for a snack. The bar was actually very nice, but the staff was extremely rude: we waited 10 minutes just to ask if we could sit down. We weren't told there would be no table service. After another 10 minutes, we asked to order at the counter, and when we asked if we should clear the table, we were told yes. I don't think we'll be back.

05/03/2026: I'll start by saying that I'm celiac and found the staff knowledgeable and attentive. There's a wide selection of excellent-quality, gluten-free local products. The place is very nice and strategically located, close to the ski slopes. I recommend the mixed platter of local products, which is truly excellent (very generous). The prices are fair, considering the quality and location.

14/12/2025: Great pasta and burgers. Chocolate cake with freshly whipped cream was delicious and the coffee was excellent too. Reccomend!

07/03/2026: We recently ate at L’essentiel and the food was delicious including the trout starte, onion soup etc. all exceptional. But more importantly, the management and personnel are accommodating and so thoughtful. They had steak off the menu and it had finished so they promised to order some for us on our next visit. Truly caring. We highly recommend

06/03/2026: Whatever you do don’t eat at this restaurant. They serve uncooked pork. We sent it out twice showing them that the meat was cold and uncooked without any improvement. Then we finally gave up and asked for the bill and they charged us full price…..

03/01/2026: I had booked a week in advance, specifically requesting three gluten-free pizzas. When we arrived at the restaurant, we asked for gluten-free pizzas and were told they'd run out without notifying us, so we ended up having fries for dinner. The waiters also seemed annoyed that we'd complained a bit.
