16/10/2025: An evening spent with friends and family, with truly excellent and easy-to-digest pizzas! Some people say there's no parking, but there's a very large one just up the street—just a 200-meter walk! The desserts were also excellent. The only downside was that the tables were filled with loud, chatty friends, so it was hard for us to talk. We'll definitely be back.

17/11/2025: The food at Il Ghiotta is genuinely good—but the experience is what makes this little spot unforgettable. This tiny, bustling restaurant is full of the soul of Florence. At lunch, I’m pretty sure my husband and I were the only native English speakers in the room. When people say they’re searching for an “authentic” meal, this is exactly what I imagine they mean. It feels like a true family operation, the kind of place where the staff seems to know half the guests, and everyone else feels like part of the neighborhood. We dropped in for lunch and enjoyed the pici carbonara, but honestly the highlight was people-watching. Three older nonnas were tucked into a corner sharing wine and animated conversation—exactly the kind of scene that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into daily Florentine life rather than a tourist stop. After watching plate after plate come out of the kitchen during lunch, we knew we had to return for dinner. The baccalà alla livornese with roasted potatoes did not disappoint. But again, more than the food, it was the atmosphere that made the night: families chatting across tables, friends greeting each other loudly, kids weaving in and out as their dads took turns stepping outside to play ball with them. What struck me most was how naturally children are included here. No devices, no screens—just coloring books, word searches, and old-school entertainment while the adults lingered over wine. The whole place radiates warmth and connection. There was a man working the wood-burning pizza oven—possibly the owner—who seemed to be the heart of the operation. Even with the oven blazing behind him, he greeted guests with the easy confidence of someone who loves what he does. If you want a meal that feeds more than your stomach—one that drops you right into the rhythm of Florentine life—Il Ghiotta is the place. It’s the kind of spot that reminds you why we travel in the first place.

When you enter this restaurant, you never want to leave, both for the exceptional food and the kindness, the way they do things, and what can I say about Mario and Marina's 10/10 friendliness... 26/11/2025: I discovered this place by chance while walking along Via Mariti. I ordered some of the schiacciata, both filled and plain. I was amazed by the deliciousness and quality of the ingredients they use. After that, not a day goes by that I don't stop by Mario and Marina's to enjoy the delicacies they prepare. I recommend trying their lunch menu, with fantastic first courses and mouth-watering second courses. Enjoy your meal, everyone! 👍🍕

04/11/2025: A very friendly bed and breakfast in the hills above Certaldo with very accommodating hosts. Wonderful views of the typical Tuscan countryside.

12/10/2025: We have had the privilege of experiencing Patricia and Toni's warm and welcoming hospitality several times. The Collina is a place to breathe deeply, relax, and enjoy. The many tips for excursions and restaurants were always spot on. The rooms are spotlessly clean, simple, and modern. We always slept wonderfully in them. The breathtaking panorama in the morning, whether looking out the window or at the edge of the pool, is incomparable. For us, the Collina is a small, exquisite paradise that is second to none. We highly recommend it.

17/11/2025: Great pizza! I didn’t like the pasta, and it’s not homemade.

15/11/2025: We arrived without a reservation, asked if there was room, and were told yes and seated without giving us any indication of how long we had to eat. During dinner, the waiter pressured us to leave the table as quickly as possible. We wanted to finish our beer before ordering dessert, but were told we had to hurry because there were other people outside (we'd only been seated 30 minutes). The result? Pizza stuck in our throats, and the feeling of being treated like a paycheck. Just tell them before they let us sit that we'd have to eat quickly, so at least one person could decide whether or not to sit down.

26/10/2025: This small, family-run agriturismo feels like a guest in someone's home—truly fantastic. The pasta is homemade, as are the sauces, and the meat is cooked over an open fireplace. A truly unique place to spend a pleasant and unusual evening.

25/10/2025: Outstanding After 2-3 days of Tuscan binge-eating, on the way home, we were looking for a light schiacciatina for lunch. We found Jumangi and it was a wonderful surprise. A wonderful anchovy crouton, which Barbara literally melted over. I then had a sublime tartare, and she had a delicious filled schiacciata. We wanted a light lunch, but the quality encouraged us to order dessert, which was also delicious. All topped off with an excellent house wine and the professionalism and friendliness of the staff. We were so thrilled that we remembered to take a photo of just the dessert. We're thinking of returning to Tuscany soon just to eat here. TOP place! Even the background music.
