12/03/2025: The Vendettari reserve is one of the first three Sicilian reserves. It was created to protect coastal marshes and dunes. Its position and its particular microclimate have made it a real hotel for over 250 species of birds. But its history goes back centuries. Greeks, Arabs, Byzantines, Swabians and Spaniards passed through here, leaving numerous testimonies including catacombs, ancient towers and churches, tuna fisheries, Latomie and other archaeological remains. All in a place of extraordinary biodiversity. But its uniqueness does not stop here, in fact if you stop by the sea you will fill your lungs with pure oxygen. In the seabed of the reserve there are 25 km of posidonia, an extraordinary plant (because it is a plant and not an algae) that releases 15 L of oxygen for every m² of extension. You will breathe better than on the peaks of Trentino. Among the most beautiful beaches in Sicily, endemic plants, extraordinary nature, hundreds of animal and plant species. And then a dive into crystal clear water with many species of fish. To be visited in every season with respect and an open gaze to wonder.

11/03/2025: Magical place, between sea and brackish water, with wonderful flamingos. Perfect for a walk away from the chaos in contact with nature, the tuna fishery offers a very particular landscape and a leap into the ancient world of fishermen. It's worth the few euros to enter.

22/02/2025: For me it's a big NO! We arrive and the slightly awkward girl explains to us how lunch works, that is, you have to go to the counter, choose what you want to eat and then they bring it to the table. I get to the counter and among the few things left I order swordfish, broccoli and some vegetables. They deliver the dishes to the table and my fish was floating in the oil, the broccoli had no flavor and the vegetables were dry and rubbery. We order a plate of plain pasta for my son and they bring us a plate of pasta full of oil (see photo). Moral of the story? 57 euros for 2 pasta dishes, some swordfish and some rice with meat and potatoes. To drink a bottle of water, a can of coke and a small beer. Oh and two coffees! I will never go back there again!

20/11/2024: Estábamos buscando un lugar para comer después de una visita al museo. Agora fue un corto paseo y seleccionamos platos de su tavola calda y tuvimos un delicioso vino local. Comida muy acogedora y de buena calidad. Recomiendo a cualquier viajero en Siracusa en busca de un almuerzo delicioso y afable

18/10/2024: The best in my opinion of course, and yet I have tasted quite a few which are scattered all over the city. but frankly go there, you will not be disappointed, these arancina are killer 🤪❤️ and 20 meters away you have desserts to die for.

16/03/2025: Breakfast at the Nazionale, the last of many and probably really will be the last. I was with a friend, we ordered at the table where the breakfast menu with the prices displayed was present and clearly visible. Brief mention of the fact that the waitress carelessly spilled a jug of milk on my friend; a mistake can happen. In addition to the drinks we order a croissant and a pain au chocolate. Price of each €1.70 shown on the menu at the table. At the time of the bill, the surprise: the pain au chocolate costs €3.00! We realize it as soon as we leave, looking at the receipt and we return, convinced of a mistake, to ask for clarification. Response from the staff with a seraphic expression: they have increased the price from €1.70 to €3.00 but the price lists have not yet been updated. The price is displayed only on the display case on the counter. An increase of 76.47%!!! Having ordered from the table, should we perhaps have gone to check the prices at the counter? Given that such an increase is shameful, it is incorrect to impose an increased price without having reported it on the price list at the table. Too difficult to correct with a marker? Since the Nazionale reopened I have noticed other unwelcome attitudes but I have overlooked them, even though they were present but today the measure is full. The venue then, a broken promise but this is not the place nor the time to talk about it.

10/09/2024: Posto strepitoso sia per fare un aperitivo che per cenare. Taglieri ricchi, di varie dimensioni con specialità tipiche siciliane e ingredienti di ottima qualità. Oltre ai taglieri si possono gustare anche altre tipicità della tradizione siciliana, bruschette o il pane cunzato molto saporito e gustoso. Ottima anche la proposta dei vini da abbinare al cibo e dolci gustosissimi e golosi. Il tutto condito dalla grande cordialità di Federico e Sharon, sempre disponibili a scambiare quattro chiacchiere coi clienti. Assolutamente da provare!

09/09/2024: Passing through Noto for 2 days, we looked for something to make a hearty aperitif nearby the first evening. We found a good product and good advice for wine! We will definitely come back tomorrow evening!

Excellent from all points of view, genuine and freshly prepared food and friendly and knowledgeable staff, the location is also nice with the tables inside (it tastes a bit like 1900s style) and the pastry counter is a feast for the eyes. Excellent value for money. I will definitely come back

14/01/2025: Merita sempre una visita ogni qualvolta torno a Siracusa. La pasticceria tutta è eccellente, cassate cannoli, babà ecc, (purtroppo i "diplomatici" d'estate sono disponibili solo su ordinazione). Anche la rosticceria è di buon livello. Personale cortese e prezzi buoni.
