14/07/2026: ★★★★★ Fantastic Meal in the Heart of Ortigia We had a wonderful dining experience at Macallè Sicilian Bistrot in Ortigia. The tasting menu was outstanding — a genuine showcase of Sicilian cuisine done with real skill and care, course after course. The wine selection deserves special mention — a great lineup of Etna Rosse that paired beautifully with the food and gave us a real taste of the local terroir. A special thank you to Mauricio, who took great care of us throughout the meal and made the evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommend Macallè if you're looking for an excellent meal in Ortigia — this was one of the standout dining experiences of our Sicily trip.

09/06/2026: Very good food. Centrally located but off the beaten path, for a peaceful meal. Excellent prices given the location. The outdoor seating is perhaps a little uncomfortable.

10/07/2026: The arancini were very good. The bruschetta was delicious. The Neapolitan pizza was okay. The staff forgot to serve one dish (for 8 people), but after asking for it, they quickly brought it. Staff spoke English, which is not common on this island.

11/06/2026: Sorry for this somewhat negative review, but the coldness of the waitress or the owner, I'm not sure, didn't exactly inspire confidence. And to top it all off, as a passionate caponata lover (I'm sure you'll find the Palermo version made with eggplant, capers, olives, tomato, onions, and pine nuts), I got a simple frita, or ratatouille of peppers, whatever you want to call it, nothing else. When I asked, they told me that's how it's made in Syracuse, but I know it's not. I know the one in Catania is different from the one in Palermo, but there's still eggplant in it. Very disappointed, sorry.

25/04/2026: Spent our last night at a b&b outside’s Lentini the owner recommended this restaurant. It was very good. Also we were the only tourists so that was a good sign. Food was good. Giant portions!

08/05/2026: Excellent trattoria for the price. The restaurant is clean and simple. The spaghetti with clams and macaroni alla norma are excellent, with generous portions. The staff is friendly, helpful, and welcoming.

13/02/2026: Good, nice, and cheap. The beef was tender and flavorful, grilled to perfection. The side vegetables and fries were delicious. The pasta alla Norma and the gnocchi with béchamel sauce and sausages were perfectly cooked. The waitresses were very friendly. The price was more than reasonable. We'll be back.

10/02/2026: Had an occasional business lunch during a trip to Sicily. The food was excellent, simple but very well prepared and tasty. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was welcoming and definitely informal. It's worth a try.

20/04/2026: sad to say, but by far our worst meal here. Fish was cold and not good, even the stray cats didn’t want to eat the leftovers. Fried artichoke was cold and inedible, impossible to eat. The owners kids ran around kicking a soccer ball in and out of the restaurant the whole time and threw these spark things on the ground that made loud bangs. We didn’t have silverware or napkins and kept having to ask for basic things like that or grab them from neighboring tables. Very overpriced too. The staff is nice but would pass on the food sadly. :(

16/04/2026: A nice little cozy wine bar with a small but good food menu. Recommended. Reasonable prices.

07/06/2026: An experience not to be repeated! Nice facility, but terrible service! After a €42 lunch for just three pasta dishes (not even prepared by a Michelin-starred chef), we decided not to eat any more at the facility, and for this reason we were kicked out at 10:00 AM because, as I quote, "if you don't eat, you can't stay in the pool." We had to console the kids who thought they could spend another two hours in the pool before leaving! Highly not recommended!

07/06/2026: I'm sharing my experience in early June. A family of four with two small children. A two-night, three-day stay. At 9:30 a.m. on the third and final day (checkout at 10:00 a.m.), we were told we had to leave the property, contrary to what we'd been told upon arrival, where they'd assured us we could stay past checkout to spend a couple of hours at the pool. When I asked the reason for this "invitation to leave," the reception staff replied that it was because we wouldn't be eating lunch at the property, thus preventing the restaurant from making money. This resulted in crying from the small children and a lack of tact, especially towards them. (Clearly, the reception staff only showed their faces, but the invitation to leave was ordered by the owner.) Finally, the prices at the restaurant are unacceptable. €14 for a plate of cold pasta with four tomatoes is truly excessive. Highly not recommended for families.

04/06/2026: A small restaurant, a family business. Locals come here to eat, not tourists. A very nice, cozy place where every guest is treated like family. And the food—mmmmm... Every dish is a work of art. We'll definitely be back. 👍❤️

25/07/2026: The staff was attentive, friendly, and always ready to accommodate any request. We ate truly deliciously; we ordered pizzas and Pizzoli, and they were truly delicious! I highly recommend this pizzeria/restaurant.

21/07/2026: Great experience. We arrived a little late, at 10 pm, but the service was absolutely impeccable. Excellent food, generous portions, and the mussel soup was amazing. Definitely worth repeating.

29/12/2025: We had a great experience! We tried couple of excellent salads. The horse meatballs and involtini were so good too. Staff was great too.
