11/06/2026: Sorry for this somewhat negative review, but the coldness of the waitress or the owner, I'm not sure, didn't exactly inspire confidence. And to top it all off, as a passionate caponata lover (I'm sure you'll find the Palermo version made with eggplant, capers, olives, tomato, onions, and pine nuts), I got a simple frita, or ratatouille of peppers, whatever you want to call it, nothing else. When I asked, they told me that's how it's made in Syracuse, but I know it's not. I know the one in Catania is different from the one in Palermo, but there's still eggplant in it. Very disappointed, sorry.

29/05/2026: We had dinner this evening at La Trota, and overall, the experience was excellent. Starting with the food, both my girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the tagliolini and carbonara. We also had the opportunity to try three appetizers (bruschetta with dried and grated trout, trout carpaccio, and hot-smoked trout with mayonnaise). The appetizers were excellent. The gin and juniper-marinated carpaccio is highly recommended. We finished with trout in Saor, which was slightly too salty (personal opinion), but the combination of trout, onion, raisins, and pine nuts really impressed me. The dessert was also good, as was the carob and persimmon combination. The location is charming; you eat in a cave. A special thanks to Corrado for his kindness and exceptional attention to service, and, of course, for the appetizer samples. Unfortunately, we live quite far away, but we'll try to return. Considering the quality of the ingredients and the sophisticated pairings, the price for dinner was very fair.

07/12/2025: PortoMatto in Avola was a delightful discovery. I ordered a first course, a truly delicious risotto: well-creamed, flavorful, but never heavy. The restaurant is elegant, with attention to detail, and the background music is not too loud and very pleasant, allowing for a peaceful conversation. Special praise goes to the table service: professional, attentive, but never intrusive. I'd especially like to highlight the kindness and empathy of the waiter, Giovanni, who really worked hard to find a solution for my wife's particularly restricted diet, trying to accommodate her in every way possible. In the end, she didn't order anything, but his face showed genuine disappointment, a sign of genuine care for the customer. Overall, a very positive experience: highly recommended.

07/06/2026: We arrived almost by chance as tourists with children and ate some truly excellent burgers!! All in all, the quality of the meat, the bread, and all the ingredients was top-notch! The kid-sized ones are a great idea. Being able to choose how you want the meat cooked is a real plus! Kudos!!

07/05/2026: Best pizza we’ve ever had!! The crust was crunchy, yet soft inside. Freshest tomato sauce. Perfect mid day lunch on our day trip to Noto. The owners are so kind and accommodating. Highly recommend not missing this restaurant. .

26/05/2026: Damn this place is heaven! Every bite of every plate served reminded me of the simple exquisite kitchen that nestled in my grandmother’s home. Here you eat genuine home made heart made pure sicilian food. The wine list is variant and rooted in Sicilian grape and the people who run it are sincere food and life loving people. Do not forget to visit!

07/06/2026: An experience not to be repeated! Nice facility, but terrible service! After a €42 lunch for just three pasta dishes (not even prepared by a Michelin-starred chef), we decided not to eat any more at the facility, and for this reason we were kicked out at 10:00 AM because, as I quote, "if you don't eat, you can't stay in the pool." We had to console the kids who thought they could spend another two hours in the pool before leaving! Highly not recommended!

07/06/2026: I'm sharing my experience in early June. A family of four with two small children. A two-night, three-day stay. At 9:30 a.m. on the third and final day (checkout at 10:00 a.m.), we were told we had to leave the property, contrary to what we'd been told upon arrival, where they'd assured us we could stay past checkout to spend a couple of hours at the pool. When I asked the reason for this "invitation to leave," the reception staff replied that it was because we wouldn't be eating lunch at the property, thus preventing the restaurant from making money. This resulted in crying from the small children and a lack of tact, especially towards them. (Clearly, the reception staff only showed their faces, but the invitation to leave was ordered by the owner.) Finally, the prices at the restaurant are unacceptable. €14 for a plate of cold pasta with four tomatoes is truly excessive. Highly not recommended for families.
