Excellent food, served with attention and friendliness

I didn't stay at the hotel, but I did enjoy the restaurant service. The quality of the ingredients is truly excellent. We started with an appetizer of cold cuts and cheeses, followed by their entree consisting of tongue in salsa verde, the classic Piedmontese veal with tuna sauce, and a Russian sauce all'ancienne, so called because it contained mustard seeds, like the French sauce of the same name: everything was truly excellent. To continue, we had the venison with polenta—soft, fragrant, and juicy—with a truly thick polenta, and a Tapulone (minced horse meat flavored with cabbage), also served with polenta. The large portions didn't allow us to try the desserts, which were otherwise very inviting. A genepy, a gentian, and a coffee rounded out a truly satisfying lunch, also thanks to the excellent table service, very proactive and never intrusive. While out for a stroll in the Ossola Valley for two, we spent €110 on a bottle of Barbera di Sizzano, truly refreshing and with just the right acidity to complement the hearty dishes we chose.
