Osteria alle Marise In Trieste

A great experience. A casual lunch on a Friday, well before season, and this place is packed with locals. I strongly recommend a reservation, even for lunch. In fact, the place is so popular with locals that there are two seatings: 12.00-13.15 and 13.15-14.30. Of the three people that were working the lunch today, all had good English, so don't be afraid to call and book your reservation. I began with the insalatino di Speck and a glass of the house Friulano, followed by a glass of the house Refosco, and the pasta prepared with Refosco wine, ground sausage and smoked ricotta - both were totally brilliant and served at perfect temperatures. Worth every penny and then some. I will definitely return the next time I pass through Trieste. Highly recommended.

Our favorite restaurant in Trieste! The food is fantastic, a reason to come back again and again. The fact that we felt so comfortable here was also due to the warm and welcoming way the food was presented. Absolutely superb!

A small restaurant with just a few tables and an intimate atmosphere, book well in advance! The menu features traditional Trieste and Mediterranean dishes. There are 4-5 appetizers, first courses, and second courses to choose from. Among the appetizers, the crostini with Liptauer is excellent, priced around €4. Among the first courses, the jota is impossible to overstate. It's truly delicious, with a very subtle acidity that's balanced well by the beans and meat. A reasonable price of €10. The fussili al Refosco pasta is also good, paired very nicely with the smoked ricotta, and the basic sausage sauce is solid. One note: perhaps the Refosco flavor is a bit too strong, and while it complements the meat ragù well, it sometimes tends to overwhelm the other flavors. Priced at €14, it's a good value for the quality and quantity. The bread basket is also good, a must-have for dipping in the jota! Overall, a highly recommended restaurant. I would definitely return to try some other dishes. Definitely worth a try!

We ate very well, typical Trieste food, excellent welcome and kindness

We went there yesterday for lunch on our last day in Trieste. The staff was incredibly friendly and found us a table even though we hadn't booked. The creamed cod bruschetta deserves special mention, and they even suggested we get a portion and a half, just right for three to share. The atmosphere is small but welcoming.

A small osteria in the center of Trieste. The selection isn't extensive, but each dish is worth it. The sardines in saor and the jota are excellent. The pork cheek with mashed potatoes is exceptional. Reservations are recommended.
