15/06/2025: We found this little tavern by chance while wandering around the old town of Bari. We were immediately attracted by the location with outdoor tables under a beautiful stone vault. It was worth it. Even though we were close to closing time for lunch, a very kind and professional lady welcomed us in a very nice and helpful way and immediately understood what we would have liked to taste.
The orecchiette with braciole and my tiella were superb. Not to mention the genuineness and spontaneity of the waitress who introduced us to Maria, a grandmother who lives just a few steps away from the tavern and who welcomed us into her home between one bite and another, chatting and taking family photos. We breathed in this tavern the authenticity and the good and kind heart of the inhabitants of Bari.
Highly recommended.

The artisanal desserts only on weekends (we opted for fresh strawberries and cream since we passed during the week).
Anyway, compliments for the quality and flavor of the raw materials. We will return..

09/06/2025: Ambience immersed in Lecce stone, staff trained and attentive in recommending combinations and dishes of the day. Delicious appetizers, exceptional first courses. We tried the hot burrata, broad beans and chicory, a spaghetti with sea urchins and orecchiette scampi. The icing on the cake were the desserts made by them, I had a cream tart, almond paste and incredible black cherry! Good variety of dishes also for vegetarians. Recommended

All in all a positive experience, although with some reservations. The menu is not very extensive, but the proposals are interesting and well-curated. The portions, however, are a bit small, especially considering the prices.
The land-sea appetizer was a disappointment: four portions for 60 euros are really excessive for 8 mussels, 8 anchovies, a portion of octopus per person and the rest mainly composed of vegetables. I expected something richer and more balanced, especially for the price.
Courteous service and pleasant environment, but I think there is room for improvement in the quality/price ratio.

13/06/2025: A delight for the palate and also for the eyes. A varied and super tasty appetizer to then finish with pasta with sea urchins, the pure freshness of the sea. Beautiful location with a view of the sea and the marina. Absolutely to return to try a nice second course.

12/06/2025: A remarkable meal! I arrive at 7:30, opening time, and I find 4 families already in line. Excellent sign. They open on time, and I am seated next to the cash register. The orecchiette with meatballs and ricotta are delicious, the bombetta with homemade chips are delicious, and the spumone (a semifreddo with a heart of figs and almonds) is even better. Washed down with 1/2 of the house red (ok), sparkling water and a very fragrant citrus digestive. Total 49 euros. Kind service, extremely efficient and helpful for a tourist ignorant of the local cuisine like me. Book if you think you will arrive late, because it fills up.

02/06/2025: We entered this place and first of all it took them 20 minutes to bring us the menu, 40 minutes to order. Exhausting waits, the quality of the food was good but a really embarrassing wait. If you want to spend your whole day there, waiting hours and hours ok, otherwise look elsewhere. I'm sorry I saw so much inexperience and inability to manage a business, something that others do best, worrying about the customer and not justifying the hours of waiting as if everything were normal.

01/06/2025: Bad experience, frozen tiella, brought back, brought back in smaller quantity, baby octopus in stew: brought n. 1 baby octopus mutti sauce. I don't know what happened in the kitchen.... After our complaints he gave us a discount. I hope for a total improvement

23/02/2025: Ho trascorso una giornata fantastica, con i ragazzi del militare, con cui non ci si vedeva da 2 anni e conosciuti quasi 30 anni fa...abbiamo pranzato benissimo, con prodotti tipici del posto, piatti unici e sfiziosi allo stesso tempo...posto consigliato per trascorrere una giornata all'insegna della buona cucina, in allegria con amici e familiari...

03/06/2025: Sono stata in questa splendida location per la prima comunione di mia figlia, con parenti e amici. Tutto è stato ineccepibile: posto curato internamente ed esternamente ed estremamente pulito. I primi di mare e di terra saporitissimi e impiattati con cura, con ingredienti freschi e genuini. Il piatto a base di carne ha soddisfatto ulteriormente i mei ospiti perché fresca e tenerissima. I salumi e la frutta saporitissimi e freschi. La torta ha rappresentato il momento più bello della festa perché servita nel giardino circondato da trulli e curata in ogni minimo dettaglio. Molta attenzione inoltre è stata riservata agli ospiti con qualche intolleranza e celiaci. Molto buono il servizio e l'attenzione ai clienti da parte del proprietario, Signor Michele e del figlio Girolamo, sempre presenti in sala, con discrezione. I miei ospiti e mia figlia, sono stati contenti e soddisfatti per questo posto davvero suggestivo . Grazie a tutto lo staff della "Masseria Gelso Antico" per la bellissima giornata.

09/06/2025: What a great spot to eat. The waitress was so kind and spoke English. She helped us order and put together a beautiful appetizer platter for us that was not on the menu. Such a nice spot. This used to be part of a 1,000 year old castle!
10/05/2025: Beautiful place, exceptional staff... it is a tavern and therefore as such it is rustic but at the same time you can feel the history of the place as soon as you enter. A hug and thanks from Florence :)
