We wanted to eat something typical of the area and that's why we chose this restaurant. Keep in mind its opening hours. We chose a lunch visit because we are not fans of late dinners..
The atmosphere is a bit simple (with tiles like a bathroom). The menu has horse meat dishes, which are typical of the area. I recommend the meatballs with tomato sauce (the meatballs are very flaky). We also tried beans with pasta, which is not bad, but there are no spices, and this makes it tasteless. The dessert is top... The service is fast, without unnecessary courtesies... As almost everywhere in Italy there is a service charge per person (even if you are not very happy 😉🤨😵💫)..
We were lucky without a reservation for late lunch.

We returned for the second time, as we were very satisfied the first time, but unfortunately this time we were not so happy. The dishes are always good, but the portions have significantly reduced, and for a trattoria, one also expects a bit of abundance. The service is very rushed; they can't wait to let you finish so they can refill other tables.

The deserts are among the top 5% that I have had in Italy. It's at another level. The texture, the taste is amazing. The main course was also great but go to this place and have the Panna cotta and the pistachio ice cream with the hazelnut sponge cake. Outstanding

A restaurant in the historic center of Lecce. We arrived without a reservation, but they welcomed us right away! The staff were friendly and the owner was very nice! We ate right away, without waiting! The typical Salento food was excellent! The horse meat was incredibly tender, and the wine was good! We'll be back!

If you're looking for authentic traditional Salento cuisine in the heart of Lecce's historic center, Osteria Anguolino is a must-visit. I returned two nights in a row during my trip because the food is truly delicious: flavorful, authentic dishes, and a fair price-quality ratio that's hard to find these days.
A top tip: make sure to book! Even during the week, the restaurant is always packed, and I had to wait a while for a table, but the wait is more than worth it for the delicious food and attentive service. Seeing tables always full is the best calling card for this restaurant. I highly recommend it to anyone passing through Lecce.
