26/04/2026: Top marks for the quality, service, and excellent cuisine! Friendly, unpretentious, they offer endless indulgence with quality, local food, no frills, but with great care for the location and, above all, the food.
A Slow Food Presidium discovered thanks to the people who rented their apartment to us for the weekend. We went with our 4-year-old...he was also super happy, and he finished the meal with a strawberry sorbet that reminded me of the one my grandmother used to make for me at home.
Eating here is an experience I would repeat a thousand times!

Luckily, there weren't many of us, as the dining room is quite noisy. Thank you very much.

12/05/2026: The food is particularly delicious! High quality, tasty ingredients, traditional dishes but also surprising combinations. The majority of the staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Limited English is spoken, which sometimes leads to misunderstandings – and as a result, the friendliness disappeared among a number of staff members. As far as I am concerned, the decor could have been a bit cozier; due to the high ceilings, it quickly feels cold.
06/05/2026: The place is beautiful but very pretentious, so I expected different service than what I received. Tables were set with individual placemats, glasses were positioned incorrectly, there were five of us, and the food was served at three different times. As for the dishes, some were good, others just very showy but lacked flavor. The waiters wore less than clean shirts or aprons.
Excessively expensive for the service received.

02/05/2026: The "homemade pasta" wasn't cooked properly and was served almost cold. We waited five minutes for our food. There were four of us, and we were served three slices of bread. The atmosphere was nice, but I wouldn't recommend it, especially not for the price!

04/04/2026: I rarely write a review while sitting at a table enjoying cantuccini with a house amaro. The owner greeted us with smiles and a warm welcome. We left it up to him, starting with a variety of appetizers, generous in size... so much so that, despite our hunger, they practically filled us up. But we couldn't leave without trying the wonderful orecchiette with turnip tops, brought directly to the table from the pan. The atmosphere and food are distinctive, where we finally return to the origins of simple cuisine, seasoned with love! Thank you so much for the wonderful lunch!

23/01/2026: I went here with my boyfriend on New Year's Eve. There's no fixed New Year's Eve menu; we ordered what we liked from the menu and everything was delicious. The veal rolls with tomato sauce reminded me of Sunday lunches at my grandmother's. Celebrating New Year's Eve at 'Scante was like celebrating at home, thanks to the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere, the extremely kind and friendly staff, and the authentic flavors of our region. Highly recommended!

The service is incredibly friendly and helpful, despite the busy atmosphere. The perfect place for a dinner that allows you to experience the true spirit of Italy.

01/05/2026: The food was really good, but the service was disappointing. The waiter seemed slow, and his English level was very limited. I asked for the menu again to order something extra, but it never arrived, so we had to get it ourselves. It would be great if the team were better organized :) We hadn’t even finished dessert, yet we felt indirectly rushed to leave the table. Not professional at all.

05/05/2026: A truly quaint place near Piazza Mercantile in Bari Vecchia. We couldn't make a reservation, but we decided to show up anyway and wait. The owner was really kind and advised us on the wait time, which turned out to be even shorter than he'd estimated. The atmosphere was informal and convivial. We started by sharing some appetizers (olives and toasted fava beans, but they have many others). I personally had bacon rolls with caiocavallo cheese, baked in a terracotta dish (excellent), accompanied by focaccia barese. For my main course, I opted for rice, potatoes, and mussels (my first time trying it), which I found truly delicious. Generous portions and a reasonable price.

The servers seemed really overwhelmed during the evening service. You can wait a long time if you don't flag them down, even to pay the bill. It's recommended to make a reservation if you want a table.

30/04/2026: We wanted to eat something typical of the area and that's why we chose this restaurant. Keep in mind its opening hours. We chose a lunch visit because we are not fans of late dinners..
The atmosphere is a bit simple (with tiles like a bathroom). The menu has horse meat dishes, which are typical of the area. I recommend the meatballs with tomato sauce (the meatballs are very flaky). We also tried beans with pasta, which is not bad, but there are no spices, and this makes it tasteless. The dessert is top... The service is fast, without unnecessary courtesies... As almost everywhere in Italy there is a service charge per person (even if you are not very happy 😉🤨😵💫)..
We were lucky without a reservation for late lunch.
