02/02/2026: There are many types of cuisine, but Chef Pierluigi's cuisine at Don Evandro is an act of love. Love for the land, love for the raw materials, which are enhanced in every way (we drank a cocktail with onion extract that was a revelation), love for culinary art and technique, and love for his guests. We had the pleasure of tasting so many different dishes, combining tradition and innovation, transforming "a simple onion" into a masterpiece, bringing "chitarra" with crayfish to the table with a sauce that is truly a distillation of flavors, blending earthy roots with freshwater flavors. All this was topped off by Eugenia's kindness and warmth, which made us feel welcomed and at home in a minimalist yet meticulously maintained setting. If cooking is an act of love, you just need to trust and be guided, with an open mind and a palate ready for an experience to remember.

29/01/2026: Don Evandro was an excellent fine dining experience. The food was excellent, sourced locally, and cooked/presented in a way that highlighted the ingredients and flavours of the local region. The staff were friendly and despite the formality of the dining experience, I found myself to be quite comfortable.

07/05/2026: What can I say... 4*? 3.5* would be perfect. The bruschetta is delicious, extremely filling and delicious; the handmade arrosticini are average; the desserts are acceptable. Negatives: the disposable tablecloths could be a little cheaper, and the bill (considering I ordered the promotional menu) could be a little more reasonable. But overall, it's not bad.

03/06/2026: Ricotta ravioli with mushroom sauce, excellent and plentiful; seven arrosticini, sold by the slice, excellent; grilled veal fillet, excellent flavor but tough and stringy (I daresay it wasn't even fillet; I don't usually eat veal fillet, but I'm still skeptical); tiramisu served in miniature sizes, delicious, but tiramisu isn't made like that and isn't that big; water, house wine, and cover charge, total €35, with a €2 discount you didn't ask for. A detour of about 200 km to return to this place where, 10 or 12 years earlier, I had a sumptuous dinner, qualitatively better than today's, at a paltry cost, I think less than €20. And in the adjacent room, two local gentlemen were also entertaining the onlookers, especially the out-of-towners, by singing folk songs from around the area. The question is: in another 10 years, will I purposely detour 200 km to return, or will I decide it's not worth it? You guessed it. I did find the owner much gruffer than I remembered, with little or no inclination to show even a modicum of warmth and hospitality, especially to out-of-towners. Furthermore, the place isn't anything special, and I had a hell of a time finding it. I warn you that simply typing "Carpineto della Nora, contrada Colle della Guardia" (without a street number) into your GPS won't be enough, since the contrada is at least 5-10 km long, and before miraculously finding someone to ask, you'll be back and forth at least a couple of times through these solitudes of the Gran Sasso d'Italia. Overall rating: two stars. (But maybe in 10 years his little son will take over, and maybe the stars will become three, or four. Or even one!).

17/05/2026: A simply perfect day. I was taken to this restaurant by restaurant friends, and I must say it was a wonderful discovery. We ate divinely, with carefully prepared dishes, authentic flavors, and a truly rare quality. The ravioli? Probably the best I've ever eaten. Extraordinary. And the desserts... spectacular, beautiful to look at and even better to taste, something truly out of the ordinary. Special praise also goes to the owner and his wife: exquisite, welcoming, kind, and passionate about their work. You can sense love in every detail, from the cuisine to the hospitality. A place truly worth exploring, and one where I will return with great pleasure.

06/06/2026: I went to try the gricia they advertise so much, but it was a huge disappointment! Overcooked pasta, nonexistent guanciale and pecorino, and tiny portions! Avoid!

31/05/2026: A truly positive experience on a Friday evening with friends. In a quiet and welcoming atmosphere, we were treated with professionalism by the waiter, who guided us towards a truly delicious and authentic cod experience.

30/10/2025: Cute little place to grab something sweet. The staff are nice and polite, and there’s a small indoor seating area. They don’t charge extra if you want to sit and enjoy your pastry or coffee, which is appreciated. We didn’t try much, but I would recommend it — you’ll surely find something to your taste. 🍰

02/05/2026: We went on May 1st with my partner and my two-year-old daughter. Even though we hadn't booked, they did everything they could to find us a spot. The waiter Francesco was incredibly helpful, friendly, and personable...as was the rest of the staff. Excellent food and fair prices. We'll definitely be back.
