30/03/2026: A monument built on the ruins of a large Roman villa, inhabited until late antiquity, which between the 6th and 7th centuries became a castrum for the Byzantines who had retained control of the nearby port of Aternum (Pescara), a key landing place and intermediate port between the Exarchate capital of Ravenna and Constantinople. They evidently built the first nucleus of the historic Torre Alex (named after Alessandro Valignano, one of the lords of the Valignano di Cepagatti family in the 17th century). The tower was consolidated in the Lombard era as a control point for a strategic road junction at the crossroads of the S.S. Picena Aprutina and the routes leading up to Forca di Penne and the Aquilano area. From the 11th and 12th centuries, it became the seat of the lords of the Norman, Swabian, and Angevin fiefdom of Cepagatti, before passing to the Valignano family in the 15th century and finally to the current owners. The first archaeological investigations by the Superintendency date back to the 1970s, and continued between 1998 and 2011 in Piazza San Rocco, bringing to light important Roman-era artefacts preserved in the City Council Chamber. The restoration of the Castle has returned to the public the so-called "Sala delle Cisterne," a rare and authentic Roman-era cistern measuring 22 meters long and 4 meters wide, as well as the 340-square-meter "Sala del Grano," located on the top floor of the monument, with a panoramic view of the Pescara Valley. The restoration of the Marcantonio Castle, begun in 2008, represents a "place in history," and the over 2,000 square meters spread over four levels offer the possibility of hosting particularly evocative events. Unfortunately, it is now in decline due to problems with the owners and is closed. What a shame... It is closed and abandoned. We hope the municipality of Cepagatti buys it back.

30/04/2026: I'll start by saying I was too busy eating to take photos 😁 A basic place with a beautiful view of the beach and the swimmers. The menu was varied and, despite expectations, everything was good. The top dish I tried was baby octopus and potatoes. Despite my concerns about the texture of the octopus (it was crunchy, but I don't know if buttery would have been better), the flavors were fantastic. The pasta with clams was good, and the fried fish was delicious. P.S. The bread served with the service charge was inedible: dry and sweet. At the end of the meal, I complimented the chef, who reciprocated by offering me an iced coffee 😊. The waitress was very kind; they even gave us a seat at the end of the lunch shift.

20/07/2026: A family-run trattoria with very friendly owners and delicious pasta. It's a shame they're only open from noon to 3 p.m.

04/07/2026: Truly a fantastic place! The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and always available, making you feel immediately at ease. The dishes were simply delicious, carefully prepared, and truly tasty. I highly recommend it! I'm just passing through for a vacation, but if I were to return to the area, I would definitely return with great pleasure.

23/06/2026: Goodness and friendliness. When it comes to food, these are the two key words, and here there are tons of both. The breads made with ancient grains are amazing, each one better than the last! Being greeted with a smile and a chat makes the difference between a normal shop and a place where shopping is a pleasant experience. Never like in this case: TRY IT AND BELIEVE IT!

21/06/2026: A small restaurant with about twenty tables. Very attentive service and fantastic food. The pickled beet salad is a highlight. The arrosticini, both liver and beef, were incredibly tender and seasoned with just the right amount of salt. Plus, the spotlessly clean restroom and baby changing table are also available.

13/05/2026: The pizza is good, my favorite is the one with spicy salami, and the arrosticini are the ones that get sent back. The place is very unique.

04/05/2026: Terrible evening. I had dinner with a girl, but unfortunately, one of the meals didn't go well. Starting with the service, my pizza arrived right after I ordered it, and it looked like it was ready, having been mistakenly placed at another table. Horrible pizza. She ordered the gluten-free version, with a frozen ready-made base and very little attention to detail. The place was very chaotic, and when it came to the bill, he asked me how it went, after explaining everything to him. As if everything were normal, he replied that it can happen, and I gave him €50 for the bill. He even asked me for €1 to give me my change back, so as not to give him a €1 discount. Truly forgettable.

26/06/2026: We visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening as a couple. Considering the prices and location, we expected much more attentive service. Right from the start of the dinner, we were surprised by the wine service... The bottle was opened and poured directly without even offering a taste, a small gesture that should be expected in a restaurant of this caliber. After receiving the appetizer, however, a long wait began. After more than an hour had passed without receiving the first course, we inquired with the waiter, who asked if everything was okay. When we mentioned that we were still waiting for the first course, he went to the kitchen and we discovered that our order had simply been forgotten. After another wait of about half an hour, the first course finally arrived. The dish was overall pleasant, but the pasta was flavorless, lacking in salt and undercooked, so much so that some of the pasta was still stuck to the dish. Once we had finished the first course, we reminded the staff that we had also ordered the second course. Again, the waiter seemed surprised, as if the order had been forgotten again. After another 15-30 minutes of waiting, the fried fish arrived, unfortunately overly salty. We arrived at 8:00 PM and finished dinner around 10:30 PM. Despite numerous mix-ups and long waits, no one apologized, nor did we receive any kind of thoughtfulness or discount on our bill. An unfortunately disappointing experience, especially considering the expectations raised by the type of restaurant and the prices.
