15/10/2025: For four people, the bill was extremely high for the quality and quantity of food served. The wine was mediocre to say the least. Service was superficial and absent. The steak was very fatty, poorly presented, and the place was small, rather shabby, with uncomfortable seating and noisy. A forgettable trattoria with Michelin-starred prices.

14/10/2025: ✨ Al Tranvai – A Hidden Gem in Florence We first discovered Al Tranvai completely by accident during our first visit to Florence. We had planned to dine at a nearby restaurant that turned out to have an impossibly long wait, and my husband — taking charge of his wife’s hanger emergency — stumbled into Al Tranvai instead. The restaurant was cozy and bustling, but managed to seat us without too much of a wait. We sat outside, close to neighboring tables filled mostly with locals. Two Italian gentlemen at the next table struck up a conversation with us, and we soon learned that one of them was a chef at another nearby restaurant. That was our first clue that we had landed somewhere special. They were so gracious, helping us navigate the handwritten Italian menu and even sharing some of their dishes with us. We bravely sampled a local specialty — kidneys — not quite to our taste, but when in Rome (or Florence!), right? My husband and I shared a few Tuscan classics: ribollita (a hearty white bean and bread soup with vegetables), arrabbiata linguine, and peposo, a slow-braised beef with black pepper and red wine. Each dish was simple yet full of soul — proof that great food doesn’t need to be complicated. We decided to secretly pay for our new friends’ meal along with ours. When they found out, they surprised us in return with a bottle of their favorite wine to take home — a gesture we’ll never forget. It was a truly magical evening. A year later, we were lucky enough to return to Florence. I chose Al Tranvai as the place to meet my Italian cousin for the very first time. The restaurant was just as warm and charming as we remembered, and the meal just as wonderful. I hope we can keep coming back to recreate the incredible memories we’ve made here.

19/10/2025: We would normally have given 5 stars, but this time only 3. The pools were all closed, even when it was 25°C and sunny, which can happen if the property deems it appropriate (they are normally open from May 1 to October 1). One point less for this decision, which went against what we were told when booking, and for the disappointment of the children; another for the refusal to provide a sun lounger to an 85-year-old guest. The staff remains friendly and competent, but obviously bound by management's decisions. We hope the property will invest a little more in maintenance of the property and in attention to guests next season.

19/10/2025: When vacationing in Tuscany, you have to think carefully about the right location to keep the distances somewhat under control. This was perfect for us; the complex is very well-maintained and beautifully designed. There are many vacation apartments and a few rooms, like a village in its own right.

11/10/2025: I've been frequenting this restaurant for years, at least a couple of times a year. Yesterday, I made a reservation over the phone for 12:15/12:20. When I arrived (at 12:15), there was no one at the front desk. The staff was eating in the dining room. I was told to wait a few minutes as they weren't ready yet. No welcome, no instructions on where to wait, no offer of anything to drink while I waited. Meanwhile, while my friends and I were waiting outside, two people arrived and were immediately seated by the staff. When we were called to come in (around 12:30), they asked me for the name of the reservation, which they didn't find on the register. At that point, given the terrible reception, we left without eating, while a kitchen worker calmly checked his cell phone on the steps outside the restaurant. I'm very sorry, but I won't be returning to this restaurant. What a shame!

16/09/2025: We ate here the evening we arrived. Unfortunately, that was a big mistake. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, so we couldn't decide, so we chose the set menu with three dishes. Unfortunately, each portion was like a normal portion, and after the second course, we were really full. That's when you lose your sense of taste. We had thought that with a three-course menu, the portions would be adjusted so that you could manage three courses. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. The restaurant wasn't very busy, so it seemed a bit chilly. About 24 hours later, we got severe food poisoning. Since the hotel staff was also affected, we got it either from dinner or breakfast. Unfortunately, that cost us valuable culinary days in Italy :(

23/08/2025: Spectacular place, quality food, although very expensive for what it is. The waiter let us in at 9 p.m., saying there was plenty of time, but from the moment we sat down, we felt the pressure with up to three waiters standing next to our table. It's incredibly uncomfortable to eat with family like this. I would have preferred if he'd told me he couldn't dine, and I'd have to figure it out.

31/08/2025: We chose AcaciAmare in Marina di Castagneto because it had been recommended as a charming location, ideal for a seaside dinner, but unfortunately our experience didn't live up to our expectations. Due to the wind, we stayed inside, in a very simple room with plastic curtains: nothing serious, but definitely far from the atmosphere the restaurant could offer with its terrace. The service, understandably slowed down initially by the crowd, however, left much to be desired: customers who arrived after us were served first because they knew a waiter who then sat at their table. The hardest part was the live karaoke music: it was so loud, it was impossible to converse. One of our very kind waiters lowered the volume at our request, but unfortunately, it was raised shortly afterward, and the situation became unbearable again. It hadn't been reported, and for those looking for a quiet evening, it becomes truly annoying. As for the food, nothing memorable: spaghetti with clams with several broken shells, calamari was good but in very small portions. Furthermore, some desserts (the cannoli) were reserved exclusively for guests, which left us perplexed. In short, a restaurant with great potential thanks to its location, but it should pay more attention to the overall customer experience: not just the food, but also the service and atmosphere.

26/08/2025: We had high expectations of this restaurant and had reserved a table for 8:30 p.m. The waiter arrived at 9:15 p.m. after we requested it. When the food finally arrived at 10:30 p.m., the mashed potatoes were indeed frozen inside. After we pointed it out to the waiter, the food was taken back to the kitchen, and the "beef" fillet came back well-done, and the mashed potatoes were still cold. "Beef fillet" in quotation marks because when I smelled my cold plate, I could smell the harbor water, as the meat tasted like a fresh fish fillet and smelled like a fresh seafood. I would have loved to give it zero stars, but unfortunately that's not possible, and the service was actually quite nice. Overall, I'd say skip this dinner, as it's expensive. If you do decide to visit this restaurant, I wouldn't recommend the cheesecake for dessert, as I saw three plates where it hadn't been eaten.

08/09/2025: We ate everything fish-based this time, very, very good, fresh and tasty. The girls were very helpful and patient. Everything was excellent. We highly recommend it. We will definitely be back.

21/10/2025: The pizza was very good. The dough was fantastic, springy and well-baked. Pressing the edges returned it to its original shape. The toppings were fresh and perfectly combined. As far as pizza goes, this is the only one out there.

21/10/2025: Simply the BEST carbonara I've ever had! The sauce was creamy and flavorful, and the bacon was crispy even though it was mixed in. The servers were all very friendly and good-natured. My only complaint is the couvert, which I didn't realize was included and cost us an unexpected 7 euros.

18/06/2025: A great alternative to the tourist hustle and bustle of the city center. A small bar and delicatessen offering small specialties. The lady is very friendly and first asks very specifically about your wine preferences. Then you'll be served the perfect wine at a reasonable price. A snack is also included.

29/09/2025: It's worth opening the rather inconspicuous little door. Behind it, you'll find bright rooms and an excellent kitchen, complete with a wine cellar, and friendly, competent, yet unobtrusive service from the chef himself. A truly positive experience in every respect.

12/09/2025: We decided to spend an evening at this historic restaurant in Montemerano. The location is truly unique, in a beautiful village. The restaurant is also warmly and elegantly decorated. The service was extremely friendly without ever being invasive, a real credit to a restaurant of this kind. The dishes were all satisfying overall, although from unique restaurants like this, you always expect something more, something that goes above and beyond and remains memorable.
