13/09/2025: The best meal we had in Saluzzo this week. The antipasti were especially spectacular: the octopus tentacle might be the best thing I have ever consumed. Her classic Piedmontese gnocchi was superlative, as was my risotto. Our desserts—a chocolate lava cake and a traditional Bonet—were delightful, even for people who generally don’t like dessert. The Barbera we had also also the best wine we’ve had this week. Service was also excellent: there was a very helpful waitress who spoke English, and guided us through the Italian menu when Google Translate failed us. Finally, this place had more vegetarian things than others we’d been to (excluding pizza places: those are always fine). Update: We returned 6 years later, and it was still fabulous. I had a white pasta and quail; she had a zucchini flan and risotto. We finished with a cheese board and the Bonet again. Our waiting staff were brilliant, and again helped in English. Still veggie friendly.

24/08/2025: A restaurant with high-quality service and food. The ingredients are of excellent quality, and Chef Michael's meticulous research is evident. Besides being incredibly talented, he also makes his guests feel at ease. The atmosphere is refined, and the wines are among the finest in Piedmont. If you're passing through Saluzzo, you can't miss it!

14/09/2025: Typical cuisine in a peaceful setting, more than reasonable prices, I recommend it for a typical Piedmontese lunch or dinner.

06/09/2025: Delicious, typical Piedmontese dishes. There's self-service for appetizers, and I only ate that: delicious. Then, if you're really hungry, you can order first and second courses. Fair prices. Good wine and bathrooms without steps.

29/06/2025: Dinner "al fresco". Given the torrid climate we decide to come to dinner here, a place we had spotted during a walk in Bisalta. Everything very good and genuine. I also discovered the dundaret that I didn't know.. we'll be back.

22/06/2025: Well, located on the hill, cool, lots of dishes to choose from, excellent service, welcoming and helpful, just the prices a little high considering the type of "home" restaurant. But I recommend it! Oh, excellent food! Keep it up but if you can and want, increase the quantity in the portions.

26/09/2025: Definitely a nice, good, quality restaurant. The fillet steak was exceptional, as was the mashed potatoes. The gnocchi were exquisite! While the slaw and veal with tuna sauce couldn't be said the same, the slaw seemed minced, not hand-grilled, and seasoned with too much lemon. The veal with tuna sauce was nothing special for this type of restaurant. But overall, the service from the girls in the dining room was friendly and attentive. The tiramisu was excellent!

Great people, women and men who, thanks to the fire of an intense passion, combined with a strong sense of their roots and the territory, have continued to pursue their dreams and projects. Their tenacity, perseverance, and above all the quality of their food is now recognized and rewarded. The many enthusiasts of authentic cuisine, the tourists who love the places and want to immerse themselves in the joy of dishes cooked with love, knowledge, and great craftsmanship, finally pay their respects. The work of cooking is hard and difficult, the welcome simple and sincere, a complicated and not always recognized art. Vilma, like her teacher Gemma di Roddino, and others scattered throughout this magical territory, are the milestones, the safe havens of food that excites and makes you happy. Kilometers are details when the destination is important, but today, with the valley floor, everything is simpler. We've been to this beautiful osteria several times, in different seasons, with the autumn mist, the warmth of the stove, the scent of truffles, and recently in the height of summer with a group of friends, some producers from the Langhe and Roero, for those shared lunches that will live forever in our memories. A traditional menu featuring our and Vilma's favorite dishes, starting with the Lele, the scent of toasted bread that takes us back to childhood, the cured meats, the Russian salad, the unrivaled and unique anchovies, the raw meat with black Langhe truffle, the cheese fritters, followed by the strictly homemade ravioli, and the rabbit, whose recipe is a family secret and is worth the trip alone. Then the traditional sweet bunets and stuffed peaches, and the fisa music of the great maestro Valter Porro. On this occasion, we were fortunate enough to sample the best wines from the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato regions, but the Vecchia Osteria cellar has excellent labels at fair prices. A dream place. Clean, welcoming, and full of charm, with a warm, sincere welcome that makes you feel at home and in the right place. A dream kitchen where you discover authentic flavors, seasonality, the chef's secrets, and above all, a lot of passion. A place not to be missed. The prices are truly fair. We can't wait to return. Thank you, Vilma, and all your small but great staff.

07/07/2025: We happened to be in the small village by chance and yesterday we stopped to grab a bite to eat. Nice place and a nice place outside (where we sat). The person who welcomed us also took care of bringing a large bowl of water for our 3 dogs. The food brought to the table was of good quality. In my opinion, the desserts (only 2) were not sweet enough. I found the bill a little high, considering what we ate. I have a note to make. It would be good, when seating people, to explain how the service will be carried out, instead of arriving directly with the appetizers. Without saying anything, we would have found ourselves with the entire tasting menu. My husband didn't dare say anything, so I had to play the role of the unpleasant one and stop everything. Just this little trick.

21/09/2025: Excellent food, well cooked fish, the only problem was the table service. After ordering, she allowed herself to scold the person in charge of frying, saying so loudly that we felt that this evening he was very generous with the fried food. The result was that the next course was my first, plates full of squid and very large, mine was much smaller and second choice, the squid. She won't serve us any more than this, we are sure, not very smart to make herself heard.

21/09/2025: The table service employee under the awning didn't pay attention to customer calls. After two calls and two nods, she never showed up! I had to contact one of her colleagues to resolve my issue.

09/10/2025: The house appetizer was poor: the beef carpaccio was flavorless because it was seasoned with garlic (not listed on the menu); the tuna sauce was equally lacking, and the tuna salad was only mayonnaise. Only the fillet steak in Barolo was good. I would hardly return.

06/10/2025: We had lunch here and I have to say we had a great time. We really enjoyed the food, the wine list was excellent, and the prices were fair. The only downside was that the dishes were a bit too fast; the waiter Antonio realized we wanted to take a breather and slowed down this pleasant moment. We'll definitely be back.

26/08/2025: Today we spent the day out in the Langhe and while we were out we stopped for lunch. We were 4 and we tried almost the whole menu. Super! Cheap prices but very high quality. Very good location in the green outdoor area.
