08/05/2026: We arrived at 9:45pm Although at first the employee told us that they were closed, fortunately the owner came out and put us at a table The food was great, the service too. The cook was the owner's mother. Great food. Great bonzole in a jug.

13/05/2026: We stopped here on a road trip, and it was a wonderful surprise. Recommended! Get off the highway, eat there, and then leave. It's worth it.

10/05/2026: A group with a pre-arranged menu. It took an hour from when we sat down (1 PM) to when we were served. They might have gotten a little crowded because it was so busy. The gramigna with ragù was fabulous, the tigelle were fabulous. The gnocchi weren't my cup of tea, but they were good. The cold cuts and everything else that accompanied the tigelle were excellent. The atmosphere was a bit noisy.

09/05/2026: Stopped in for a quick dinner, Elena took our reservation and got us sat down for an amaaaaazing meal!! Every course was delicious and we quickly downed a bottle of wine after sampling the grechetto sparkling white named after Elena! Truly amazing homemade food, family was all over the kitchen and dining area checking on us. Best meal we've had in Italy!

25/04/2026: A beautiful restaurant in the Modena hills. Excellent views and traditional local dishes. The owner gave us a short tour of the vinegar factory and cellar, including a tasting of his own balsamic vinegar.

03/05/2026: Very good pizza with quality ingredients. I've been twice already, but I'll be back. Very friendly staff, and the atmosphere is pleasant both inside and out (the tables are in a beautiful little square). Must try!

26/04/2026: A very nice place right in the center of town, with an outdoor area in one of Modena's most picturesque squares. Very good pizza made with high-quality ingredients. Exceptional Montanarine. We'll be back to try the desserts, too.

29/05/2026: Back from a stay at Casa Maria Luigia, which, though brief, was no less interesting and enjoyable. Forget about a typical hotel stay or a simple gastronomic 'experience.' This is something else entirely, or at least that's how we experienced it. Accommodation: Excellent, with rooms focused more on aesthetic detail than functionality. The garden/park is an oasis. We only missed a turndown service, usual at this level. The thoughtful breakfast introduces you to regional products, but we did miss a simple croissant. The service is young, attentive without being intrusive. Lara and Massimo want you to feel at home, and they succeed admirably. The primary language is English, more so than Italian. The target clientele is tourists seeking experiences. There's a strong presence of Americans (Lara's excellent work is evident here as well). Dinner: Casa Maria Luigia offers (and more) a tasting menu featuring some of the Chef's iconic dishes. Nothing is cooked there; there are no pans or pots, only plating up and ovens for setting temperatures. In fact, you don't get the impression of being in a restaurant, but rather in an exhibition—an exhibition where the works aren't paintings to admire, but the dishes themselves, and the experience is a tasting preceded by an explanation of the 'work'. It's best to go with a clear idea: it's not a 'dinner,' it's a visit to a "gastronomic exhibition." The result may be more or less to your liking. But this is it. In all, we enjoyed our stay and plan to be back.

13/05/2026: We noticed at some point Casa Maria Luigia changed their schedule to be open 7 days a week, so we changed up our travel plans to stay here during our time in Emilia Romagna and the trouble of updating our plans was so worth it. This place is truly incredible and I would recommend it to anyone who comes to visit this area. There is clearly so much thought that goes into making this place feel like home - the staff is extremely friendly and we also had the pleasure of meeting Massimo and Laura here who are so warm and down-to-earth. We also did a tour of the Acetaia (where they produce traditional balsamic vinegar on the property) and we learned so much from the guided tour and are happy to be bringing back some gifts with us to remember this place when we’re back home.

17/01/2026: Great experience! The fish was incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The dishes we ordered were tasty, beautifully presented, and generously portioned. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. The quality/price ratio was also excellent. Highly recommended, we'll definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

03/04/2026: The food here is excellent! If you want to enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza, this place is a must. The mozzarella and tomato were excellent, but what really captivated me was the montanare dough we had as an appetizer. It was a cloud: even though it was fried, it was super light. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. We'll be back!

03/01/2026: We went for lunch on a Saturday around 2 pm, so it was crowded but starting to empty. We sat down, and unfortunately, despite the tables next to us being empty, we had to wait half an hour for two platters of cold cuts. The wait, in my opinion, was a bit excessive, both because of the raw dish and the fewer customers. The quality was good, yes, but I would still recommend the staff pay more attention.

11/05/2026: We ate pizza...if you love thin pizza this is the best in the province.

13/04/2026: Very good first courses, but the portions were small. We ordered a trio of dishes for 6, so we didn't even get a dish each. Gnocco and tigelle were 3 generous portions of cured meats and various sauces. With 4 bottles of water, a carafe of Coke, a liter of wine in a carafe, and a coffee, 40 euros each. A bit excessive.

02/06/2026: If you love stuffed pasta, this is the perfect place. Tortelloni of all kinds and more, and the main courses are also very good. The wine selection is also good. 10+

28/05/2026: A very refined atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, always interesting daily specials, and excellent quality ingredients. Recommended for a business lunch or an evening out.

05/11/2025: We were in Gallipoli on a tour of Sardinia and had dinner at this typical restaurant. Everything was delicious, and we had excellent service. I recommend everyone visit Gallipoli and stop at this truly interesting restaurant.

20/10/2025: We visited Rubino restaurant in Gallipoli while trekking in Salento; it's an excellent place for a seafood dinner. The atmosphere is elegant and welcoming, suitable for both couples and friends. The seafood is fresh, well-cooked, and carefully presented. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'd say it's a solid choice for quality seafood in the city.

30/03/2026: The intimate setting creates an incredible atmosphere. We chose the charcuterie and cheese platters and the lamb tartare (very delicate), accompanied by a red wine chosen by the owner. Dessert was a very delicate strawberry mascarpone. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the dishes. P.S.: Excellent wine selection, and advance reservations are essential.

03/05/2026: Modena's historic market. If you Google "things to see in Modena," after the Ferrari Museum, this market will pop up. A market where you can find any food (and only food), along with small restaurants stacked one above the other, where you can eat face-to-face with other diners. So if you're looking for privacy, look elsewhere. Almost all of them offer Emilian cuisine, so a wide variety of pastas and classic main courses. I recommend it as a stop; you won't find the chaos of Ballarò, but you'll find a very authentic atmosphere. The only downside is the wait; if you can get there before lunchtime, you'll be able to eat in a decent amount of time; otherwise, you'll need a lot of patience and a lot of thought. I don't think you can book. The prices are typical for an "average" restaurant. Recommended.
