09/04/2026: It was filled with blueberry jam and shaped exactly like a Japanese anko donut. I was recommended it by someone at a shop I happened to wander into, and it was my first time trying it. It was incredibly delicious. I looked it up and it seems to be a pastry called Bombolone, but I'm not sure if that's correct. Thank you for the amazing taste and wonderful experience.

10/04/2026: I had lunch on a weekday with my family... despite the extremely high level in every area, be it the atmosphere, the service, and last but not least the food, the feeling we all perceived was of great attention both to our needs, I am celiac and vegetarian, and the very friendly atmosphere that made us feel at ease... almost as if we were at home.... At the end of the lunch, Massimo Bottura lingered to exchange a few words with each table, a man of great culture and humility, a real experience... and as a waiter asked me just before leaving... Did you have fun, ma'am? A lot, definitely worth repeating 🤍

Osteria Francescana — Modena
Walking around Modena, I felt a certain coolness when Massimo Bottura was mentioned. Nothing explicit, just small signals — among restaurateurs, shop owners — that hinted at distance rather than pride. Whether jealousy or misunderstanding, I don’t know. But it made me want to experience Osteria Francescana without filters.
From the outside, the restaurant is discreet, almost withdrawn. No attempt to impress, no obvious signs of greatness. That kind of quiet confidence typical of places that don’t need to explain themselves.
At the entrance, before the dining room, there is a small welcome area where art immediately takes the lead. What struck me most was the statue of Massimo Bottura: ironic, self-aware, slightly irreverent. Not a monument, but a statement. It sets the tone.
The dining room is intimate, with only a few tables. Silence, focus, no distractions. You feel invited to pay attention.
The tasting menu unfolds with precision and discipline.
After a sequence of focused amuse-bouches, the menu moves through dishes that avoid excess and aim for clarity: a green, herb-driven course, clean and essential; a seafood dish built on iodine, texture, and contrast; and then
“Legumes cooked individually”, served with beer — a dish of apparent simplicity where timing, respect, and control turn something humble into something deeply meaningful.
Then pasta, the heart of this territory.
The tortellini, tiny and perfectly executed, served in a light Parmigiano Reggiano cream, are a lesson in balance and restraint. Nothing added, nothing taken away.
One of the most striking moments is the savory panettone with duck. Warm, aromatic, structured like a festive bread but treated as a main course, paired with a rich duck sauce. Memory, technique, and flavor all aligned.
The meat course that follows stays on the same line: focused, clean, confident. No unnecessary elements.
Desserts close the experience without chasing sweetness. Balance, bitterness, texture. An intelligent ending.
Wine pairings are thoughtful and precise throughout, always supporting the dishes, never dominating them.
Halfway through the meal, Massimo Bottura entered the room, greeting every table. Reserved, present, not performative. Fame here feels like a consequence, not a goal.
This is not a restaurant trying to please everyone.
It’s a restaurant that knows exactly who it is — and why.
And to Modena: whether you like it or not, you are home to one of the greatest Italian chefs of our time.

We enjoyed every course, from the appetizers to the first courses, to the meat, which was clearly their specialty, cooked to perfection.
A restaurant I highly recommend to anyone who wants to eat well.

07/04/2026: We truly enjoyed our time at this little osteria, a true gem of Modena cuisine. Davide, the server, is very kind and friendly, making you feel right at home. I particularly enjoyed the food: fried gnocchi and tigelle, with truly quality cured meats, calzagatti, a polenta and bean dish typical of Modena, and then the first courses, generous portions and delicious, especially the tagliatelle with ragù. And finally, a mascarpone cream with chocolate biscuit, which I found very well-balanced and not overly sweet, a perfect end to a very enjoyable lunch. The prices were fair; we spent €90 for three, a fair price for what we ordered. Thank you, Davide, for your kindness and excellent cuisine. When we return to Modena, Zemiàn will be a regular stop.

08/01/2026: A must-visit when in the area, the food is excellent and the friendly atmosphere makes you feel at home. I personally had the tortellini in broth, which were spectacular, and the grilled duck, which was also a real treat.
I recommend it to everyone, especially truffle and mushroom lovers (although you can also order dishes without, like mine).
The price is excellent for what you get, both in terms of quantity and quality.
06/01/2026: The appetizers, first courses, side dishes, and desserts were spectacular!!! Mushrooms, truffles, tortellini...but the meats were special! Guinea fowl, lamb, tartare, tagliata...everything was top-notch. The ingredients were excellent. We didn't stay overnight, as it wasn't far, but we thought about this beautiful location on a snowy Sunday evening...

22/03/2026: Some pleasant certainties, those rare entities that resist the entropy of everyday life better than any stoic existential survival manual, not only deserve recognition, but almost call for active defense, like small fortresses of meaning on this steep path we call life.
Among these, with unassailable empirical evidence and a certain emotional connection, is the Vecchia Lama restaurant in Lama Mocogno.
The cuisine is distinguished by a coherence that borders on Aristotelian ethics: never a hesitation, never a flaw. Here and there, elegant quotation marks of refinement, small, cultured winks, which nevertheless never slip into affectation, admirably avoiding the mannerist drift that so often afflicts ambitious dining.
Fabrizio's touch in the kitchen, and Loredana and Sara's smiles in the dining room: not simply service elements, but a constant feature of the place, a reassuring presence that reconciles diners with the very idea of hospitality.
I note, with the thoughtfulness of an archivist of pleasure, the fragrant freshness of the sautéed cavolo nero: a seemingly humble dish, yet capable of a depth of flavor that borders on the metaphysical.
It's no surprise, then, that the restaurant boasts a Michelin Bib Gourmand nomination: an accolade that, for once, seems more like a duty than an investiture.
