While my guests appreciated the choices, I was tempted by the cold and tasteless stuffed zucchini and the sautéed porcini mushrooms, without calamint, more boiled than sautéed, accompanied by two cherry tomato halves, which floated on the plate, making me wonder: what are we doing here? That said, Ruggero remains a point of reference for Tuscan cuisine, of which I've always enjoyed everything except the sautéed porcini mushrooms and the stuffed zucchini, alas. The house wine was excellent.

05/05/2026: My boyfriend and I were there a few days ago and were really, really happy. The pici were incredibly fresh and the wild boar ragù was amazing. The guy who served us is very charismatic and talented, and he's passionate about explaining the cuisine and history of Poliziano. We also had an appetizer of crostini with pecorino and lard, which was delicious. I also wanted to try their tiramisu with biscotti, but unfortunately I was full 😂 Definitely worth returning!!

02/05/2026: The food wasn't fresh and the service was extremely rude. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very negative. The dishes seemed to be made with low-quality ingredients and weren't fresh at all, which affected both the flavor and the overall presentation. Furthermore, the staff was unprofessional and unfriendly, creating an unpleasant atmosphere throughout the visit. I don't recommend this place and definitely won't be returning.

12/05/2026: Food was excellent and the service was even better. The bread quality could’ve been better, but overall dining experience was great! I recommend trying the fish steak with a glass of tuscan chardonnay white wine.

04/05/2026: A restaurant right in the center of Castiglione della Pescaia. The center itself is charming, and the restaurant is equally charming, very well-maintained with stone walls. The staff are incredibly friendly! They were fully booked, and they were disappointed to find us a table. We left, and I believe the owner, Thomas, saw us from afar and said he'd managed to find us a spot, so we returned for dinner. They were truly super kind. Fast service, clean restaurant, and good food.

03/05/2026: Compliments to the entire place!! The waitress and wait staff were superb! Perhaps the best table service I've ever experienced in terms of kindness and helpfulness. My two-year-old was treated like a prince, with smiles and games, and the staff attentive to his every need. The food was all truly excellent! I didn't have time to take photos of my full plate because everything was so good 🤣 A very beautiful and distinctive place for its location and setting. We'll definitely be back!!

20/05/2026: Please do yourself a favour and go somewhere else. I was honestly really shocked at the attitude of the waitress here who genuinely rolled her eyes and laughed at me when trying to order just drinks and dessert. She said she would need to ask the if it was okay with manager for us to not have dinner as well, who shrugged and said it would be fine. After telling her we just wanted to share a cake rather than get one each, she scoffed again and said “really, wow”. We were at a table for under 30 minutes and paid a cover charge of €2 each. If it was busy, maybe I could understand her frustration but we paid for the table and there were only a couple of people in the restaurant. We wanted to support a local restaurant but unfortunately the environment we experienced was hostile and uncomfortable. This waitress also had very little patience for the couple sitting next to us who were trying to translate the menu. If you only want people buying 3 course meals with drinks when your restaurant is already empty, put up a sign.

22/05/2026: We ordered a platter for two, which was truly excellent. Special mention goes to the pear jam served with the pecorino cheese. Excellent venison steak. The waiter was super friendly, attentive, and helpful.

Pici all’aglione e briciole was the highlight: thick handmade pasta, bold garlic sauce, just the right texture. If you’re feeling adventurous, go for the fried brain — a classic offal dish done with confidence. Genuine Tuscan cooking at honest prices. Book ahead, it fills up fast.

This puts a slight strain on the staff, who rush around and seem a bit stressed, but they do everything they can to ensure your experience is a good one! Excellent quality dishes. For appetizers, we had: delicious pappa al pomodoro! Hand-sliced ​​Tuscan ham. Followed by sliced ​​Chianina beef with a side dish and a cutlet with fries. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. We'll be back!

04/06/2026: Hip trattoria serving authentic Tuscan fare with edgy staff. We did not have reservations and got there 5 minutes before it opened joining a queue anticipating the opening. We got a table, luckily, due to a last minute cancellation but had to finish dinner in 1.5 hours. Service was brisk, food was excellent and we finished with a minute to spare. As we left, our server joined us for a couple of Lemencello shots on the house!!
