This place is just off the "beaten path". We were a little skeptical when we first arrived due to the "less than warm" welcome feeling we got, could be because we were tourists. We were seated outside under a large enclosed double umbrella area with about 9 two place tables that they arranged according to party size. Our "serious" waitress gave us menus in English. We ordered, to share, Ravioli Alla Crema Di Noci, Ravioli with ricotta and spinach in walnut sauce and Filetto Di Pesce Spada Alla Griglia Con Contorno, (grilled swordfish) and choose the Spinaci All'aglietto (spinach sautéed with garlic) as the side. We also ordered a bottle of house white wine. The Ravioli was amazing and the swordfish was delicious, cooked to perfection, very moist full of flavor. The sautéed spinach was also prepared perfectly. The wine was slightly less dry than a chardonnay, but it was a house white and was a good table white. Our total was €70.00 What started out with "is this going to be a good place to eat?" and ended up with an absolutely fabulous early dinner! Definitely a return visit type of place, oh and the not so warm waitress had a very friendly counterpart that was very nice. I'm sure it was just a language barrier thing but in the end the food did all the translating "squisito!"

I went to this place because of the reviews I read... personally I can say nothing special as people say in their reviews... the pappardelle with wild boar pasta was too smooth and the wild boar ragù was too minced but good... the sliced beef was average... the torta del nonno was excellent... the wine recommended by the waitress was good

The atmosphere and service are informal, yet attentive and fast. The food is excellent, with generous portions and fair prices. A great place to experience Lucca's cuisine and atmosphere. The outgoing owner made us feel right at home.

We were here two days ago, but unfortunately, we were out of luck as all the tables were already occupied. That's actually a pretty good indicator. So we tried again today and actually managed to get a table. Our order was taken very quickly, and the service was very attentive, perhaps a little too attentive. Our appetizer and main course arrived within about 10 minutes. This made us quite uneasy, as a good meal takes time, even if the kitchen is well-prepared. This speed didn't make us feel welcome or encouraged to stay as long as possible. It gave the impression that we were expected to leave as quickly as possible to accommodate the next guests. The bruschetta tasted good, but was unfortunately a bit soggy. The carbonara was too al dente for our taste, and the bacon could have been rendered more. But well, it's all a matter of personal preference. Everything was cleared away quite quickly, so we didn't have time to enjoy the bread with olive oil. All in all, the food wasn't bad, but the overall experience wasn't pleasant.
