25/12/2025: I visited for lunch on a weekday. The hospitality and food were both excellent! What I ate ✔︎Bolognese ✔︎Tortellini in Brodo ✔︎Ham and Baby Artichoke Platter ✔︎Red Wine I arrived just after noon, a little early for lunch in the area, so there were no other customers. While I was eating, a few customers who seemed to be locals came in. The friendly service from the madam and the elderly gentleman made me think it was a great restaurant, but everything I ordered was also delicious (the tortellini was especially excellent!), and I was truly impressed, knowing it was a culinary capital.

04/01/2026: The first time I ate at La Lumira I was 18, now I'm 51 and the quality of the food and the service are always excellent. The traditional dishes are good and the pizza is always superb. You can't go wrong, La Lumira is a guarantee of quality.

18/01/2026: OK place, but I wouldn't return. Gnocco and tigelle are good, but the cold cuts served weren't worthy of Emilia. I asked for the tagliata medium rare, but they all arrived overcooked and a bit tough. There was too much oil in the pan, which also made it difficult to cut the tagliata, which had been served incompletely sliced. The tiramisu was very good.

14/01/2026: I went there one evening with friends and had a really good time. I loved everything, from the atmosphere to the truly beautiful location. The food was also very good; we ate really well. The service was excellent. I wasn't familiar with the previous management, but I think this new management is doing very well. A lovely evening, I definitely recommend it!

09/01/2026: It was the best meal we had in Bolonga, place is not really tourist. You need to make reservation to get in, we tried for lunch, but without reservation we were turned back, so we did reservation for dinner. We really enjoyed our dinner there, highly recommend!
08/01/2026: Beyond that door, the beating heart of Bolognese tradition. There are places that don't need neon signs to be found, because it's the soul itself that guides you. On December 29, 2025, my wife Maria and I, after a journey that took us through Romagna, from Ravenna to San Marino, with Bologna as our final stop, had the privilege of discovering the trattoria on Via Boccaindosso, an authentic corner of Bologna jealously guarded behind a door, without frills, where time seems to have stood still. The experience began thanks to my friend "Cicerone" Donato Pisciottano, a Bolognese by adoption, but originally from Salerno like us. In fact, he has an edge because he's from Cilento, specifically from the beautiful Santa Maria di Castellabate. He hosted us in the Guardia di Finanza guesthouse (his hospitality and care deserve a separate review), and he accompanied us, along with his wife Marina, to discover this Bolognese gem. As soon as we crossed the threshold, we were greeted with the warmth and overwhelming friendliness that only these parts can offer. The owner, Gianni, is a true host from another era: frank, jovial, and with a passion for hospitality that makes you feel instantly at home. We spent the evening chatting, laughing, and rediscovering the pleasure of true conviviality. It's been a long time since we've enjoyed such a convivial, welcoming, unhurried table, with gestures that were never intrusive, but simply attentive to our well-being at the table. The cuisine? A hymn to tradition. We sampled typical Bolognese and Romagna dishes, cooked with genuine passion for food. We started with some mortadella and coppa di testa to warm our stomachs, then moved on to a kind of artichoke tart/pie (delicious), and a savory pie with pears and Taleggio cheese, which we tried for the first time and, unfortunately, I don't know when we'll get the chance to try it again. After the appetizers, the handmade Tortellini in Brodo arrived, aiming to provide warmth and company, although the company was shared by two other first courses: large pumpkin tortelli with butter and sage, and the famous LASAGNA BOLOGNESE (exceptional). Not satisfied, we moved on to the second course, and we insisted on the equally famous Cotoletta Bolognese. Another interesting discovery, since working in Milan, we've tried the Milanese cutlet many times, and between the two, I'm sorry, the Meneghina wins, albeit by a narrow margin. There are no half measures in this trattoria: we were served a generous array of desserts, without any limitations. It must have been our gaunt faces, our bodies marked by the kilometers—nearly 40 in 5 days to see everything—that convinced Gianni to bring us a huge bowl of velvety mascarpone cream, zuppa inglese made the old-fashioned way, passing through a perfect crème caramel, an intense chocolate mousse, and the typical Bolognese rice cake. Every bite told a story of authentic ingredients and recipes passed down with love. To accompany the dinner, an excellent Sangiovese made everything even more special. The final gesture, then, moved me: the innkeeper, recalling his military past in Nocera Inferiore, wanted to give me a bottle of the same Sangiovese we had sipped at the table, a tangible reminder of an unforgettable evening. Thanks also to all the staff, professional and kind, especially the lady with the glasses—I don't remember her name, but she knew how to handle two customers like us, who were visiting this restaurant for the first time, a restaurant built on a long-standing and loyal clientele. It seemed like they knew everyone. In short, if you're looking for the real Bologna, the one made of intense flavors, sincere smiles, and heartwarming encounters, look for that door on Via Boccaindosso. You won't regret it. 15/12/2025: I'm talking about the restaurant, I didn't stay. Really nice place. Courteous, informal and friendly welcome, welcome prosecco. Menu with good choices and well explained, accurate wine list. We had two appetizers and two first courses, gnocchi and agnolotti really good. Then on the menu I read thomahawk with a price per 100 grams, let's say we want a small piece because we're already full... I can't say anything bad about this restaurant, I ate damn well, I had a good time, the managers and the waitress are super nice and friendly but there is a but... you can't offer a tomahawk for a cost of €100 or at least you have to warn customers that their pieces of meat are more than a kilo and a half and cost a lot (the meat was very good and cooked well, I have nothing to complain about, in fact I recommend it) that's the only flaw. We said we're full, we just want to taste your meat (for goodness sake, the leftover piece, we had only ordered two slices, was given to us to take home) but cooking 1kg and 700 grams of meat for someone who has already ordered an appetizer and first course seems excessive to me. I hope this review of mine won't be taken badly by the managers, as I wrote they are super nice and exceptional, but only as a piece of advice to let them know what and how much they spend before ordering. 17/01/2026: Traditional food. We booked days ago. At the entrance, a handwritten sign warns that the POS terminal isn't working; unfortunately, we didn't see it. When it came time to pay, the waitress claimed she had verbally communicated this to one of us upon arrival, which wasn't true. When offered an immediate bank transfer with a copy of our ID, they initially said yes, then changed their minds and said no, and invited us (my husband and I, along with a child and an elderly person) to withdraw cash. Without apology, without offering liquor or coffee, without a single euro discount for the inconvenience and withdrawal fees. We'll be curious to know how all the other customers paid today....
12/01/2026: Gigina, a master from Bologna, eats tortellini in broth, the legendary mortadella mousse, and the liver, and then, to finish, save room for a dessert, any one from the dessert menu. And then you'll remember me 😀

10/01/2026: We had such a lovely meal here. We made a reservation but were able to change the time day of without a problem. All of the staff were kind, and the meal was incredible. We highly recommend the eggplant starter, the lasagna, and the graminga fresca alla salsccia. Very cozy, traditional atmosphere. Will easily choose to return if we come back to Bologna.
08/01/2026: Had high hopes based on reviews but despite decent food and service I'm left with the memory of the thick layer and dust and grime covering all surfaces adjacent the main dining room. Would not recommend based this lack of cleanliness. Ragu was decent. Wine pairing was the only true highlight.

09/12/2025: A very good restaurant with good dishes. I didn't like how they served the mortadella in chunks; I think it's better sliced ​​thinly, but to each their own. The steak with Modena balsamic sauce was very good, as were the pasta and the small tortellini with soup. The ice cream and other desserts were also very good. I didn't like that the owner (at least that's what it seemed to me) was vaping inside the restaurant, or yelling excessively in the kitchen, which could be heard from everywhere.
07/12/2025: Excellent place, we were served quickly despite it being quite late and without a reservation. Typical northern Italian cuisine. We recommend it.

19/12/2025: Trattoria Sandoni is a guarantee! The food is amazing, and the service is always attentive and friendly. My absolute favorite is the grandma's cutlet from Budrio: I order it every time and it's always excellent. The wine selection is also excellent, perfect to accompany your dinner. A word of advice: tables are almost always occupied, so it's definitely best to book in advance. Highly recommended!

My impression: Mostly middle-aged guests from the city who don't want to cook at home but still want food that tastes as good as home cooking. The ambiance is very Italian, unpretentious, and cozy. Few or no tourists. A huge thumbs up and much praise!!
