The pasta with shrimp was outstanding — perfectly cooked and full of flavor — and the oysters were honestly the best I’ve ever had. A big thank you to Enrico for his fantastic recommendations, which made the whole meal even more special. The open kitchen adds so much charm, and the chefs are incredibly friendly, making you feel part of the experience. It can be hard to get a table at lunchtime and the queues are huge, but it’s no surprise — the food is absolutely worth it! 🦪🍤🍝✨

The owner, a person of rare humility and kindness, makes you feel immediately at home, with the ease that only those who love their work can convey. The same courtesy and attention is reflected in the entire staff, ready to pamper guests with kindness and professionalism, from start to finish.
Lunch was an unforgettable journey through the most authentic flavors of the sea. The seafood salad and octopus salad were a triumph of freshness, with the octopus so tender it melted in your mouth.
The fried cod and calamari were indescribably delicious. But the true masterpiece was the mussel soup: an explosion of flavor, one of the most memorable experiences.
Every detail testifies to the love and care that goes into each dish: the bread, enriched with almonds that gave it a special touch; the Neapolitan taralli shaped like meatballs, which melted in your mouth, leaving an unmistakable flavor of lard, pepper, and almonds. Equally noteworthy is the oil, of exceptional quality, and the freshest ingredients, making every bite a true pleasure.
Quality and cleanliness are the restaurant's other strengths. Excellent location, excellent value. Sublime dishes and a very friendly atmosphere. Attentive and experienced staff.

27/08/2025: We've been here for both lunch and dinner, purposely returning because we had such a wonderful meal. The ingredients are all top-quality, the service impeccable, and the dishes arrive with perfect timing. We had spaghetti with black garlic, pasta with provola cheese and potatoes, and also tried the desserts, especially the one with buffalo ricotta, orange marmalade, and lemon—truly delicious! I would definitely return and recommend it to anyone who wants to eat well. Plus, Mr. Elpidio is truly friendly and made us feel right at home!

Authentic traditional food and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
It truly feels like a family business, and you're served by the chef/father himself.
The food is displayed and selected at the entrance, and they don't speak German or English, but the owner is adept at Google Translate, so everything is easily resolved.
Please don't let that put you off; this is truly delicious traditional food, and heart and soul go into everything they offer.
We were there as a group of six, ordered all the dishes (only €7 per dish) and had them served in the middle so everyone could sample all the dishes. Even the glass of wine was of outstanding quality, and you could tell the chef was concerned about ensuring everything was to our satisfaction. A fantastic experience that I can highly recommend to everyone.

12/09/2025: Impeccable service, the guy who served us was really kind and smiling.
The atmosphere was lovely, with lots of music playing, which, being two young women, we enjoyed listening to.
The pizza I had was delicious, well-topped, and despite being large, thanks to the light dough, it didn't leave a lump in my stomach.
We had two pizzas, two soft drinks, a water, two cheesecakes, one with Nutella and one plain, and two coffees.
With cover charge, we paid €43 for two.
It was a great discovery.

24/08/2025: After traveling 60km, we arrived there and the reservation wasn't recorded. The person who welcomed us justified themselves by saying that the person who took the reservation hadn't recorded it, so we could either wait or leave. Obviously, we left, but I completely disagree with their attitude because if something like this had happened in my business (human error, even if...) I would have done everything I could to correct the mistake and keep the customer from leaving, but that wasn't the case!

Abbiamo ordinato 2 genovesi e una trofia con scarpariello ed erano ottimi e molto saporiti, con porzioni abbondanti e ricche di condimento. Abbiamo concluso con i loro buonissimi dolci fatti in casa. Servizio efficiente e personale molto gentile. Consigliato per chi apprezza la cucina tradizionale. Ritorneremo sicuramente!

The only downside was the service, especially with the desserts: the waiter didn't tell us that you could choose individual portions, and instead brought us all three pieces... They were good, yes, but way too much for two people...

20/08/2025: Carmnella—note correctly, without the 'e', which has instead 'bastardized' the vernacular of those who use the name Carminella by distorting it—is one of the oldest pizzerias in Naples.
And this precious antiquity is enhanced by the 'militancy' of Enzo Esposito, the owner, at another very famous and historic Neapolitan pizzeria, the Trianon, where, I remind non-Neapolitans, they serve only two pizzas: the classic Marinara and the Margherita, created, as everyone knows, in honor of King Umberto's wife (who, coming from Saxony, alas for her there, was most likely forced to eat pizza with pineapple, as the Landsknechts who descended from Frankfurt on the capital of the Great Beauty, Naples, reminded us recently, but who returned home with five babàs generously donated by Napoli to their Eintracht).
But let's get to the pizzas, beautifully crafted by Enzo for his Carmnella.
The selection is vast, expertly balanced between the classics (in various versions, to be chosen by the customer) and the new creations of master pizza chef Vincenzo Esposito.
Including some in collaboration with the Amalfi Coast's Michelin-starred chef, Peppe Guida.
Three quintessential ingredients of Neapolitan gastronomic culture reign supreme: escarole, ricotta, and tomato in numerous versions, including the absolute king, 'O Rraù.
The choice is extremely difficult. As I've always advised anyone wanting to understand the quality of a pizza, you should always choose a classic Margherita, and only then, on other occasions, choose another type.
But I couldn't resist the temptation to try two classics, revisited.
A beautiful 'Bucce di Margherita' and an Elena Ferrante ('O rraú ra dummeneca cu a ricotta e 'e purpettele ra nonna').
The very kind and smiling Annalisa was a little horrified by the request (given the combinations of two very different tomato sauces) but she gladly accepted the request, with a smile on her face (and it won't be added to your bill).
The dough was excellent (if you eat a pizza with even the crust, it's a sign that it's very well made), just the right consistency, not heavy, but the ingredients were equally excellent, including some delicious tomatoes.
The very light, almost imperceptible, crunchiness of the crust (certainly not, horror if there was one, (we're not Briatore's style) of the pizza dough) was very pleasing to the palate. Excellent Ragù (strictly capitalized when it's not (as the great Eduardo used to say) carne cu a pummarola) expertly prepared, and meatballs that, if you're Neapolitan, will take you back to Neapolitan Sundays.
Another clever choice that pays homage to Naples is naming the pizzas after great women, daughters of Partenope, Elena Ferrante and Elisabetta Farnese, who married a Bourbon consort and was therefore Neapolitan by adoption.
The very dry fried foods are also excellent, although I've only tried a panzarotto, as we children of Partenope call potato croquettes, and the desserts by Leopoldo (a very famous Neapolitan pastry shop, for non-Neapolitans or those unfamiliar with it).
As Enzo correctly explained, he's a pizza chef, not a pastry chef, so it's a natural choice to rely on a top-notch pastry chef for the desserts.
I highly recommend (as Annalisa, the kind and smiling waitress, recommended to me) the amarena brittle, another dip into a typical Neapolitan delicacy.
And finally, the service and the bill.
Notice the high-rimmed plates and the marble tables (another absolute Neapolitan tradition).
I've already mentioned the kindness and smile of the waitress Annalisa.
All that remains is to analyze the bill.
A little higher than the average for similarly priced establishments, but that's due to the inclusion of one panzarotto and one dessert (both excellent).

Our experience was memorable: the decor and atmosphere are truly unique, the service very friendly, and above all, the food exceptional (for the price, no less 🤯). The oxtail stew was simply divine!

The food is spectacular, almost unreal; every bite was of an incomparable quality. Plus points because the place is tiny, with pleasant music and funky, provocative decor. The service is excellent.
