We dined on-site and were blown away: the freshest, locally sourced ingredients. Honorable mention goes to the homemade dishes, probably the best I've ever eaten. Among the dishes worth remembering is the spaghetti with beetroot, bacon, and ricotta cheese: a triumph of flavors, perfectly balanced between the sweetness of the beetroot, the savory bacon, and the creaminess of the ricotta cheese. 06/01/2026: I can objectively say that in this very nice, welcoming, and clean place, you can eat the best pizza I've ever had in Matera and the surrounding area. This is due to the 24-hour natural leavening with sourdough starter and the QUALITY of the ingredients used in the toppings, which are FRESH and not packaged (which, whether high-quality or not, still contain various preservatives and additives), cooked in a wood-fired oven. CHAPEAU! All this with a QUALITY/PRICE/SERVICE ratio that is nothing short of exceptional! Finally, in addition to the kindness and helpfulness of the owners, I can also add the punctuality in delivering the pizzas if you order takeout! Well done, and keep up the good work, TOP!

08/12/2025: Today, Monday, December 8th, I ordered three pizzas, and two-thirds had a short black hair in them. Who knows how many other hairs I ate (hopefully zero), because as soon as I spotted this hair, I spat it all out. My mother did the same, so basically, pizzas tossed. Two hairs is too many; I strongly recommend wearing a swimming cap.

06/01/2026: Cavatelli with cruschj peppers, so delicious! Generous and flavorful portions. The fava beans with chicory were decent, but still worth a try. We weren't thrilled with the dessert, however.

23/12/2025: I found this restaurant by chance and it was a wonderful surprise. All the dishes are traditional local dishes, and in some cases, they've been beautifully reinterpreted by chef Silvana. For those like me who love the flavors and aromas of Italian cuisine, this is an absolute must-visit. A special mention also goes to Mimmo, who is incredibly kind and helpful.

03/01/2026: Dinner during the Christmas holidays. I regret giving it 2 stars because I ate quite well, but the service was rather questionable. I don't think it's fair that orders are taken without a menu. Dishes can be chosen based on the freshness of a product, just as exclusions can be dictated by the presence of a defrosted ingredient. I politely asked the owner to bring one, but my request was denied. What's certainly more serious is that after ordering a glass of wine, a glass was brought to the table already filled. Pouring wine should absolutely be done at the table. I also gave the ambiance 2 stars because, just a few steps from the table, even though it was behind a glass door, I could see tables, chairs, and objects on the floor; not pleasant.

The quality of the croissants and our cappuccinos was excellent, and the prices were absolutely reasonable. Il Sedile is a place where even non-Matera visitors will feel at home. The owner is always ready to provide valuable information and recommendations for places to visit. In short, Il Sedile is highly recommended for anyone visiting Matera. The combination of warm service, high-quality products, and a welcoming, non-touristy atmosphere makes this place an experience we'll never forget. Stop for a bite to eat and a chat with the owner – it's definitely worth it!
