17/04/2025: Absurd. Never again. We had a gin and tonic, an orange juice and a Sprite. Total bill: €23. The gin and tonic can also cost €9, but paying €7 for a juice and €7 for a simple Sprite is beyond all logic. The justification? The "piazza" (i.e. two chips and some peanuts) is paid separately, and with different prices: – +2€ with gin and tonic – +4€ with juice – +€4.50 with Sprite It's a shame that no one tells you anything before, no price list, no explanation. Only the surprise at the bill. And to think that in many other bars the square is offered for free. A truly disappointing experience, with disproportionate prices and zero transparency. We won't be back.

03/06/2025: Approfittando del weekend, con amici ci siamo recati a Lipari. Dopo una piacevole cena presso una struttura del luogo, decidiamo di concludere la serata con un drink. Attratti dalle ottime recensioni scegliamo il Caffè La Vela che si rivela una pena!! Due dei miei amici prendono un Negroni, il più coraggioso si ostina a berlo fino alla fine, mentre l'altro dopo due sorsi abbandona l’impresa passando all’acqua minerale! La mia amica prende una coca cola zero (ma oltre ad essere zero zuccheri, era anche zero gas!!!). Era degassata come un palloncino ad elio ormai in fase terminale. Io mi azzardo ad ordinare un Long Island, sapeva di coca cola annacquata con elevato tenore di acido citrico. Ho ancora la gola anestetizzata, più che un drink sembrava uno sciroppo antinfiammatorio. Alcool non pervenuto, boh, sarà ancora in fase di decantazione e degassazione per futuri cocktail da somministrare. Cosa ancor più grave, aver servito al tavolo la coca cola già aperta. Le regole base prevedono che le bibite vengano portate tappate o al limite aperte davanti al cliente. Pertanto desumo che era già degasata da tempi remoti. Per concludere, aggiungo, che il tavolo era talmente appiccicoso da miscugli consumati da clientela precedente, tanto che il mio amico e qualche zanzara estiva hanno rischiato di restare lì incollati al tavolo. Fortunatamente siamo riusciti a tornare a casa senza il tavolo dietro, ma sicuramente a non tornare più qui nelle prossime sere. Migliorate la qualità dei cocktail, costano, li paghiamo, non sono degli omaggi, ci piacerebbe gustarli, non nausearli.

17/04/2025: Non sono stata fisicamente là, è da circa 4/5 anni che non ne ho la possibilità. Ho ordinato dallo shop online. Non so quali vicissitudini abbia avuto negli ultimi tempi, ma devo dire che le mie aspettative alte non sono state soddisfatte. Ho frequentato Irrera per 40 anni e non reggeva il confronto con nessuno in tutta Messina. Ora, vuoi per qualche cambio di mano (pasticciere) o per la differenza delle materie prime i cannoli non sono più all'altezza, i quaresimali nemmeno e i fiori di mandorla che si scioglievano in bocca sono un vago ricordo. A onor del vero, devo dire che negli ultimi anni, qualunque pasta di mandorle abbia provato contiene una percentuale di mandorla sicuramente inferiore a quella a cui ero abituata, ma dicono che per poter restare sul mercato non si può fare altrimenti: tanto è diventata costosa la mandorla! Beato chi, come me, ha assoporato quelle delizie. I nati dal '90 in poi dovranno accontentarsi e forse continuano a ritenervi di ottimo livello. Impecccabili invece il servizio clienti e il packaging benché una scorza di cannolo mi è giunta rotta (ma è sicuramente colpa del corriere).

13/05/2025: The Mediterranean cuisine here has authentic taste. We enjoyed lobster pasta for main course and we found it to be delicious and the flavor was fantastic.
