05/05/2026: If you like standard Sicilian food served in large portions don’t go here! If you want something a bit different from the run of the mill restaurants, fantastic combinations of flavours and a fine dining experience you must go to this restaurant. The whole experience was wonderful, the service was superb, the presentation of the food a work of art. Can’t recommend it enough, the best restaurant I have been to in Taormina.

Upon entering, you'll experience a warm and welcoming atmosphere that transports you straight to the 1960s, but the real strength is the cuisine: here, everything is focused on the absolute quality of the ingredients and respect for tradition. ​Each dish tells a story; the flavors are authentic, carefully prepared, and genuine, light years away from the banality of tourist menus. The portions are generous, the service is courteous, and the attention to detail truly makes the difference. I'll definitely be back; highly recommended!

06/07/2026: There was a man sitting nearby having a video call with a prostitute on his phone. Our group was shocked and told our waiter, Carmelo, that this was completely unacceptable. He immediately handled the situation by moving the man a few meters away, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, the food was very good, and Carmelo was an incredibly entertaining, warm, and generous waiter. He managed to turn around the atmosphere after the shameless behavior of that man and made it possible for us to enjoy the rest of our visit. Thank you, Carmelo—you are the best!

26/05/2026: I'm a bit torn about rating this restaurant, because my experience was marked by stark contrasts between the quality of the service and the livability of the place. The atmosphere: A decidedly sore point. The dining room is overcrowded, with too many tables crammed into a decidedly inadequate space. As a result, the tables are very close together and the atmosphere becomes extremely noisy, making it difficult even to chat. The service: The staff is excellent, courteous, and meticulous. However, the time management is decidedly too fast. In just an hour, we saw various appetizers, two first courses, and two second courses parade across the table. More than a relaxing lunch, it felt like a race against time: the risk is that you gorge yourself without being able to fully enjoy the dishes, which deserve a more relaxed pace. In summary: The food is good and the staff is excellent, but the rush and chaos of the dining room take away the pleasure of conviviality. Would I go back? Maybe yes, but only on a weekday and hoping for less crowds.

07/07/2026: Our family reunion brought 35 of us from the USA to Giardini Naxos, and La Spelonca Restaurant could not have been a better choice for our welcome dinner. A very special thank you to Chef Cristian, who was incredible to work with throughout the planning process. Since we were traveling from the U.S., I wanted to offer our family a true taste of Sicily. Chef Cristian thoughtfully created a fixed-price menu featuring wonderful local specialties, then happily worked with me to customize it until it was exactly what we envisioned. Every course was outstanding. The food was fresh, authentic, beautifully prepared, and gave our group the opportunity to experience many traditional Sicilian dishes. Our servers were warm, patient, and incredibly accommodating, making such a large gathering feel effortless. They also arranged the perfect space for our celebration. If you’re planning a large group event, I highly recommend La Spelonca. Just organize it in advance, and you’re in excellent hands. The best part? A few days later, just the four of us returned for dinner, and the experience was every bit as exceptional. The food, service, and hospitality were just as memorable. Our favorites: caponata, eggplant cannolini, seafood salad, red shrimp ( first time having them) and a must try the Pistachio cream pasta!! For dessert, cassata, cannoli and tiramisu. Thank you to Chef Cristian, his wife Irena & Mario and the entire team for helping make the beginning of our Sicilian adventure so special. We can’t recommend La Spelonca highly enough. It is an absolute must-visit when you’re in Giardini Naxos or Taormina which is just a short taxi ride away! Grazie Mille Chef. Ti aspettiamo in Arizona!

16/05/2026: It was recommended by our local host, Isabella. Casa Niclodi was easily the best meal of our entire trip—we’re still talking about it days later. Every dish was incredible, and you can really feel the care behind the food. The service made it even better—so warm, genuine, and attentive without being over the top. It just felt special from start to finish. Don’t miss this place.

17/05/2026: Everything was very good, the place was also beautiful. It's a shame that the cashier is a nice lady, but she has an angry, unsociable face. The waiters, on the other hand, were very nice.

07/05/2026: We had a horrible experience at the restaurant. I went to Castelmola many times and everywhere people were friendly. Elena, our server was annoyed just by the fact we entered with 3 children. The place was quiet and I said we're going to sit at the last table outside just to make sure children won't bother anyone. The question 'What do you want?' is unacceptable even if English isn't the first language for someone, but she asked also in Italian : Cosa volete?! in a hurry like we were on her way in a quiet place.... My 4 years old daughter was tired so she lifted up the plastic table cover and I told her to put it down. Elena in the other hand has told her off; stop it! Now your family can't eat here because of you!!! She looked at her so badly even though she stopped when I asked her to sit still. The pizza Margherita was okay and the 2 aperols as well, but the service....never again. My card didn't work contactless and she kept shouting it's NEGATIVE PAYMENT, NEGATIVE NEGATIVE....I said we can insert the the card of course and then it worked....never again, never!!!! Elena, educate yourself!!!

01/01/2026: A memorable December 31st: we ate outside even though it was raining, warmed by blankets, the fire, and above all by the attentive staff who pampered us until the very end. Jacqueline was an excellent hostess.

21/12/2025: What an experience ! Fantastic apetizer (sardinas fried to perfection with a simple home made mayonaise) and ensalata de bacalao with grapefruit and olives. My taste sense just exploded. Luckily there was a glass of the finest sauvignon to help getting back to earth 🙈😇. Delicious it was. Thank you very much.

23/06/2026: The best of the best for stockfish, as they call it here. For years, I've wondered why cod is so popular in Messina, given the abundance of fresh local fish. In any case, this humble fish becomes pure poetry at Nino's. The special menu is highly recommended, even if you're already full after halfway through. Open only for lunch, reservations recommended. The head waiter, a local institution, is also top-notch. I wonder if he's co-owner, given the passion he puts into it.
