09/05/2026: After years of going to this restaurant, this is the second time I don't understand what food was on my plates. I didn't comment the first time. It could happen again last Thursday. I never ate the food. I'm not the type to make a fuss. I paid without saying anything, but I won't be going back. It didn't lose one customer, but many. I'm 72 years old. I don't go to restaurants to get in trouble. €40 per person, without wine.

02/05/2026: We returned to Fra Michele in Monforte for May 1st, recalling past experiences, but unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed. While the restaurant once stood out for its abundance and quality, today the memory seems to belong to a distant era. We're talking about a set menu. ​The appetizers were truly minimal. It was almost embarrassing to be served a platter consisting of just two slices of prosciutto and two of salami. ​For the first and second courses, the portions were decidedly small. The first courses (pistachio and black pig ragù) were good but so small they made one think of Checco Zalone with the quip, "OK, you can fuck her." The most painful note came with the second courses: calling a single pork rib a "secondo" is difficult. Even the tagliata with arugula and parmesan, served as a single dish to be shared between two, was extremely "moderate." We paid €40 each for the adults and €20 for the child (who received an equally meager children's menu: two slices of ham, mini penne pasta, and a cutlet with just five fries). €100 total for a lunch that literally left us hungry. The only positive note was the staff, who were kind and helpful despite the busy schedule. The "large crowds" are often used as an excuse for a drop in quality or quantity during these occasions, but I find that a specious response. A celebration that invites families to eat out should be an opportunity to build customer loyalty, not penalize them. It's a shame, because we had chosen this place with confidence and high expectations, preferring it to others. We're unlikely to return.
