Hotel Morcavallo

18/12/2025: Puglia and Campania were our favorite destinations for a quick seaside getaway when we wandered the mountains to visit Padre Pio... And in Peschici, we managed to stay almost a week, at the Morcavallo. A hotel overlooking the sea, where practically the only barrier was the beach. I also spent a lot of time by the pool, before diving into that sky-blue sea; to the right of the promenade was a small marina that wasn't always crowded. The food at the hotel was very good; a beautiful, dusty lady, a regular guest who lived not far from Peschici, confirmed this to us. She told us that she spent up to two months at the hotel and that she wasn't originally from Puglia. She had moved near San Giovanni Rotondo with her husband, a great friend of Saint Pio, even before the friar became famous in Italy and throughout the world, and to whom they remained devoted forever. The kind lady, now a widow for some time, was astonished when she learned where we were from: her sister, who lived in the same town as us, had married one of our fellow citizens in the 1950s, a well-known local farmer and former mayor. We kept each other company for the rest of our stay, and she told us wonderful things... The owner of the Morcavallo confounded us by saying he also owned a hotel in San Giovanni Rotondo, on the avenue leading to the Sanctuary.
07/10/2025: The location was good, but the room was very spartanly furnished. The breakfast was disappointing, with few fresh options. For me, the hotel isn't worthy of a four-star rating.

10/09/2025: Don't be fooled by the superlatives used to sing the praises (but which ones?) of this steakhouse. If you're thinking of eating meat, trust your instincts, not the advice of anyone behind the clearly visible meat counter, or you'll end up paying nearly €40 for a nearly inedible cut. I returned half of my steak after mentioning it to the waiter, but the price remained the same on the bill. Only after telling the cashier we were staying at a nearby B&B did they take 10% off our total bill, which still remained steep. The bombette were just okay, the mixed salad good, the house red wine decidedly subpar. There's probably better options around in and around Peschici.
05/09/2025: I'm giving it one star because zero isn't allowed. The food is good, good quality, but unfortunately the service leaves much to be desired. It was completely confusing because all the dishes arrived at once, and we ate the appetizer with the meat, otherwise it would have been cold. GOOD FOOD, BUT THE ORGANIZATION NEEDS IMPROVEMENT.

31/12/2025: Pizzeria Number One is undoubtedly a guarantee. The food is excellent quality; you can clearly taste the fresh and carefully selected ingredients. The pizza dough is light, digestible, and not heavy, something rare these days. Special mention goes to the rustici, rustic panzerotti, arancini, and croquettes: all handmade and not pre-frozen like many other pizzerias. This really makes a difference on the palate: every bite has an authentic, homemade flavor, unique. The pizza is truly excellent; as mentioned, the dough is incredibly light, and the toppings are always generous and well-balanced. The service is prompt, even at peak times: I often go there on weekends, and yesterday, during the Coez concert in the square, the quality and speed were unchanged. The staff are kind, friendly, and always smiling; they make you feel at home. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to eat well and feel welcomed. Really well done!

17/02/2026: A restaurant in the center of Foggia, a quiet setting ideal for a business lunch or a romantic dinner if you're looking for a relaxing atmosphere. Good food, good service, and friendly, courteous service.
14/02/2026: First time at this restaurant: we've always heard good things about it, but in reality, we weren't thrilled. Only three choices of starters and appetizers, which were a bit meager and classic. The sea bass all'acqua pazza, the side dishes, and the cream and chocolate millefeuille were good. However, we felt it was excessive to pay €25 for spaghetti with scampi (so how much will it cost with lobster?). Finally, the wine list was nonexistent and there was only one waiter in the dining room, unsure whether to take orders or serve the dishes.

21/01/2026: A wonderful place, I won't return. The pizza is so bad that, out of respect for the true Neapolitan pizza, the name should be changed on the menu; it's an insult to call it Pizza. It's better if they close the oven; it's not their art. For Apulian dishes, the food is reheated and doesn't taste fresh. We recommend dining elsewhere. Anyone who appreciates your pizza is probably from the North and doesn't understand anything about pizza.
15/12/2025: A simple, spartan yet absolutely authentic atmosphere: one of those osterias where what really counts is what's on the plate. The quality-price ratio is excellent, and every course confirms your choice. The bruschetta in oil is a must-try, truly sublime, as are the flavorful and carefully prepared first courses. The menu is quite varied and includes typical local dishes, appetizers, first courses, second courses, and even pizzas, also available for takeout. Everything is well-made, tasty, and very reasonably priced. It's an ideal place for both lunch and dinner, perfect for those who want to eat well in a quiet, family-run environment. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and immediately puts you at ease. The food is good and the drinks even better, in a genuine and convivial atmosphere. Important note: they don't accept debit or credit cards, so it's best to bring cash. Don't miss the lady's homemade mandarinetto: a real treat that ends the meal in the best possible way. September 2015. I will definitely be back.

22/03/2026: Small as a place... the pizza used to be good, now it's always burnt on the bottom, therefore bitter on the palate.
04/02/2026: A welcoming location, polite and helpful staff, but what sets this place apart is the authenticity of the ingredients. In Cerignola, everyone boasts about quality, but few actually put it into practice. The pizza is excellent, and since I've celebrated several anniversaries, I absolutely recommend the restaurant as well. The portions are generous and delicious, from the presentation to the taste. It's an experience to be savoured; giving it 5 stars is the least I can give. Kudos also to the owners, a husband and wife team of restaurateurs who know how to satisfy even the most discerning palates.
