19/02/2026: STUNNED!!! Last night I called the bar and, from a VERY KIND girl, I ordered 20 pasticciotti to take away to Reggio Emilia the following morning as a souvenir of home. This morning, as usual, I went to the bar, lined up in an orderly fashion at the register, asked to pay the due amount, and a cashier, just as KIND as the girl I'd ordered the pasticciotti from the previous evening, told me I had to pay at another register. I went to the new register, lined up again in an orderly fashion, introduced myself, and paid the due amount (€22.90) by debit card. A young man in his forties served me, I picked up the pasticciotti, and before leaving, I asked if he could exchange a €20 note for two €10 notes (I should have given €10 to my father, who, in the meantime, was waiting in the car to take me to the station). The man tells me he doesn't have change, inviting me to go to the other register where I had previously arrived. I thank him and walk away: so far, it's been a normal conversation in a crowded Lecce bar. I take a few steps to the other register and the man INEXPLAINABLY blurts out, in front of everyone, loudly saying: "THIS IS ITALY, GENTLEMEN! HE PAYS ME WITH MY DEBIT AND THEN WANTS THE MONEY IN CASH!!!" Astonished by the situation, I go back and ask the bartender for an explanation, telling him that I had asked for a favor and that once he told me he didn't have the bills, I walked away, but not before politely thanking him and wishing him a good day. The man, evidently annoyed by the fact that I had paid by debit card, continued to up the ante, reiterating, loudly and mockingly, that my request was absurd and that I couldn't demand cash since if everyone paid electronically (he was probably also annoyed with the customer who had paid for his breakfast before me by debit card), he wouldn't have any. After trying in vain, in front of an audience of customers who were reluctantly witnessing a third-world financial discussion, to convince my interlocutor that he shouldn't have given me the two €10 bills he was supposed to hand over, and that I certainly couldn't know if he could have had €20 in previous cash payments, I asked him if he'd had an argument with someone before, if he'd slept badly, or if he was simply angry with me, whom I was seeing for the first time in my life. Since the situation had become ABSURD, I decided not to ask for change for my poor €20 bill, not even at the second register where the cashier was gawking at the scene, for fear of being lambasted for such an outrageous request. I left with my €20 pasticciotti, guilty of having been paid by debit card instead of cash. Moral of the story: for me, from today on, BAR STOP will be BAR NO STOPPING, EVEN TEMPORARILY. Pasticciotti? I'm unlikely to eat them... I hope the gentleman responsible for this scene isn't the owner and that he apologizes to him (more than to me) for the embarrassment he made at a historic bar in Lecce in front of a dozen or so patrons at 5:45 on what should have been a quiet morning in my hometown of Lecce. Thanks for the experience.

26/02/2026: Everything was very good. A wonderful little place, a renovated old trattoria. We opted for an appetizer of sweet and sour pickled vegetables and mixed grilled meats. A typical house dessert with custard. Highly recommended. We'll return when we're in the area. Average price.

22/02/2026: A historic and typical Salento restaurant, where you can rediscover traditional flavors, with traditional appetizers (pittule) accompanied by fantastic pickled vegetables. We tried the "Pezzetti di Cavallo" (Horse Pieces), which were definitely delicious and tender. I didn't particularly like the plating, nor the piece itself. It almost tasted like "pasticciato" (stuffed meat). To me, the piece is more like a stew served in a bowl... but they were definitely good. The best thing we ate was this dish called Papalina... I absolutely recommend it; I loved it, even though I'm not a fan of vegetables, let alone cooked ones. The only downside was the chocolate salami. They were slices of salami so frozen they couldn't even be eaten with a fork, and they were overly sweet... I didn't like it.

05/03/2026: Perfect place for meat, a lovely journey through burgers, sandwiches, tartare, and truly excellent bruschetta. I really enjoyed the bruschetta with lard and the Curello burger. I also appreciated the bread they use for the burgers and sandwiches, which was delicious and crunchy, rather than the usual soft brioche-like buns. Excellent selection of beers and wines. Cute atmosphere and efficient service. The only downside is that when the music starts, you can't hear the person next to you. I'll be back to try other things that intrigued me.

19/02/2026: The owner responded to my allergy by saying she didn't take responsibility and that I knew what I could eat, all of which was said in a rude and impolite manner. A unique lapse in style, and I'd like to add that a restaurant thrives not only on good food but also on good manners and humility. Hats off to the truly excellent and kind waitresses.

Frequented mostly by locals, here you can find the true essence of Puglia in the dishes and in the hospitality of the owners and their impeccable staff. Well-organized, everything is truly delicious. We hadn't eaten at a restaurant like this in years, and what we loved most was the sourcing of local ingredients and, above all, the way they were prepared! Our compliments, they really gave us another reason to return to this beautiful region!

The cuisine isn't particularly varied, with just adequate preparation. The service is also adequate. Prices are particularly high. The entire establishment has been downsized compared to the past.
