The food is excellent! I've been twice! The setting is cozy and not overcrowded, however, the first time I didn't appreciate the staff's attitude among the customers. There were some young people... it was obvious they were under pressure to stand on top of each other! And in front of the customers, they were getting comments. I think it's a shame; a young person is starting out and learning, but it needs to remain a pleasant atmosphere!

Excellent local seafood and very pleasant service. You can taste the family spirit behind this typical Apulian cuisine; I recommend the linguine with cuttlefish, octopus and squid, and the MilleFoglie or the traditional homemade Tiramisu.

We are a family with one child and ate at Ristorante da Umberto last night, which is very close to our accommodation. This meant we could easily walk there, although there is also plenty of free parking. The online reservation worked perfectly. We were the only foreign guests and don't speak Italian, but we still received a very warm welcome and were able to communicate without any problems. For starters, we ordered the whole-wheat focaccia with anchovies, tomatoes, and arugula. Then, we each tried a different pasta dish from the extensive menu: Spaghetti Quadrati Aglio, Olio e Calamaro; Troccoli alle Alici con Burro di Bufala e Tarallo al Finocchietto; and Linguina Vera with seafood, cuttlefish, shrimp, and cherry tomatoes. We also enjoyed two glasses of white wine. Everything was superbly prepared and absolutely delicious! To finish, we treated ourselves to two homemade desserts: chocolate ice cream with fondant and a sfogliatina with ricotta from Salento – both were divine. For three people, we paid a total of approximately €115 including tip. Excellent value for money. We'd gladly come again!

TOP!!!! We ate there three nights and tried almost the entire menu. The dishes were excellently cooked, the fish was very fresh, and everything was delicious! The homemade desserts were spectacular! The staff was incredibly kind!

Da Umberto is an institution in Otranto. A family owned restaurant with a magical atmosphere, great choice of fresh fish, raw seafood, pasta, and amazing vegetables from their garden. I highly recommend their “suscitazioni di mare” a big dish with different type of raw seafood and their “Pesce al sale” a whole fish you can choose from their fish cart, cooked under a salty blanket in the oven. Delicious! Ask for Tiziano, the owner-chef-sommelier-maitre and son of Umberto, he’ll craft you the perfect culinary experience. For sure one of the best restaurant in Salento! Ps: leave some space for the delicious homemade desserts from Rita, Tiziano’s wife, you won’t regret it!

The welcome, the service, the staff, and the food were perfect. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Great restaurant! I've been in Puglia for four days and this is the best I've been to. Friendly staff, prices around €20, but it's worth it.
