09/08/2026: We stopped for dinner, good quality, fair prices, the pizza in pala had an excellent consistency and was nice and crispy.

04/08/2026: A welcoming waterfront restaurant serving truly exquisite seafood. The menu offers fresh, carefully presented seafood. We started with fantastic black polenta crostini topped with delicate creamed cod, a perfect and flavorful pairing. This was followed by a perfectly cooked fish steak served with arugula and cherry tomatoes. The mixed fried fish deserves special mention: piping hot, crispy, not at all greasy, and topped with excellent battered vegetables. Even the simple side dishes, like the baked potatoes, were flavorful and well-cooked. The service was attentive and fast, and the atmosphere was very pleasant. We'll definitely be back!

21/06/2026: The cuisine was excellent, I'd say out of this world. It's not the first Michelin-starred restaurant I've eaten at, but it's certainly the best. In particular, in addition to the excellent ingredients and superb presentation, I was struck by the flavors, aromas, and tastes of the ingredients that went into each dish. Each dish was distinctly distinct, yet simultaneously exploded on the palate, creating a unique combination, a flavor that was unforgettable. All seafood was accompanied by excellent wines. The final highlight was a visit to the kitchen, where I learned about the chef, who was very kind and helpful. An experience definitely worth repeating.

22/08/2026: A very pleasant family dinner. Excellent, courteous, and punctual service, spacious tables, and excellent local cuisine (trabaccolara, Viareggio cacciucco). Prices are in line with the location and season. We returned a year later, and were offered a table outside, as there were no more seats available inside. They told us it wouldn't be noisy, but in reality, our dinner was marred by the infernal noise of all kinds of vehicles just inches away. Certain tables, at certain prices, simply can't be offered. It's better to say they're not available. We found the prices higher than last year, while the service is still excellent. The raw fish was below expectations.

The waiter and the waiter were excellent, and the food was spectacular. I recommend the salt-baked sea bass. Absolutely delicious! €60/70 per person, but worth every penny!

I went there just the other night with the idea of ​​a quiet dinner, and I left absolutely thrilled. 💡 The Atmosphere As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by a warm, intimate, and welcoming atmosphere. It's not one of those pretentious places where you feel intimidated; on the contrary, you breathe in the genuine atmosphere of an old-fashioned trattoria, but with a touch of attention to detail that immediately conveys the quality of the place. The tables are well-spaced, and the soft lighting creates the perfect atmosphere for both a romantic dinner and a relaxed chat with friends. 🍷 The Food: The True Flavors of Tradition Let's get down to business: the menu. The menu speaks Tuscan, but the real thing. The Appetizer: I started with a classic Tuscan antipasto. The cured meats were freshly sliced, flavorful, and of the highest quality, accompanied by expertly made crostini neri (the chicken liver pâté was perfectly creamed, creamy, and incredibly flavorful). The First Course: I had to order the Lucchese tordelli with ragù. Man, a revelation. The homemade pasta was the perfect thickness, the dough just right, and the spicy filling perfectly balanced the rich ragù, slowly drawn out like it used to be. A dish you absolutely must mop up with mopping up. The Second Course & Dessert: For our second course, we shared a tagliata with rosemary and coarse salt: the meat was tender as butter, cooked exactly rare as requested. I finished with a house tiramisu and a glass of Vin Santo with biscotti. 👤 The Service The staff deserves a special mention. The service is cheerful, fast, and extremely attentive, without ever being intrusive. They recommended a fantastic local red wine to accompany the meat, demonstrating their great passion for their work and the local area.

08/04/2026: Food to die for - which you might do getting there if you are not careful as the roads are incredibly steep and twisty. But make the effort as wonderful food, incredible views, lovely friendly staff, and very good value at €12 for the set menu (two courses wine and coffee!!!!)

24/08/2026: A real tourist trap. The pizza was clearly not fresh or made on the spot – it looked like it had been bought somewhere else and it was even served cold. The food was generally very disappointing for the price you pay. The staff was also unpleasant, especially the blonde waitress, who came across as very unfriendly and uninterested. The only positive thing about this place is the location, but there are much better restaurants in Lucca. I would not recommend it.

15/08/2026: A wonderful experience! The location is stunning, with a large free parking lot behind it. Dog friendly. We started with the pecorino fondue, I believe with truffle, which was delicious, followed by pasta with truffle and ragù. Everything was succulent, and the homemade pasta was incredible. We called two hours in advance to make a reservation to ensure we got a table, but the place is large enough to try even without a reservation. Around €70 for a starter, two main courses, three spritzes, two bottles of water, and coffee. We highly recommend it!

18/07/2026: The menu isn't very extensive, and that's a plus in my opinion. The first courses were really good. The meat could be improved. The tagliata was good, but some pieces were really too thin. The Tuscan mucco was a bit disappointing. We would have expected a more intense flavor, but that wasn't the case. A small point about the location. It's true that the evening was hot, but the lack of air conditioning inside and a few fans outside made the evening less pleasant. If everyone starts fanning themselves... a solution has to be found. Otherwise, everything was fine. Nothing to complain about, either about the service or the value for money.

13/03/2026: Truly excellent restaurant in the Darsena district of Viareggio. A charming and well-kept venue with a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent, and the service was attentive, friendly, and professional. We started with a five-course appetizer, each one more delicious than the last. This was followed by a sublime Viareggio-style risotto, and truly special paccheri with calamari and shrimp. To finish, a homemade dessert: a simply wonderful strudel with ice cream. An experience I absolutely recommend.

06/07/2026: I've been going to La Grotta often for several years. Superb pizza with high-quality ingredients; the very original menu features a wide variety of pizzas. The desserts are generous and excellent. Exceptional appetizers. The ingredients are top-quality, and the chefs are skilled at preparing and presenting the dishes. Although many dishes are meat-based, it's recommended for vegetarians. When it's crowded, a little patience is needed (everything is cooked to order... unlike those accustomed to sitting down and quickly eating pre-cooked or frozen food in so-called "trendy" places in the city), but it's more than worth it. Excellent prices. The owners are super kind and helpful 👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏
