09/12/2025: Beautiful place, very friendly staff. Even though there was an eighteenth-minute charge, the dishes arrived promptly. Everything was really good. First course, second course, shared side dish, dessert, wine, and soft drinks, we spent just under €40 each. Highly recommended.

08/12/2025: My wife, daughter and I ate here last night. We liked the aesthetic of the restaurant. Note: I am an expat but live permanently in Lucca. We wanted to try a restaurant we haven’t been to before and I selected this one based on its proximity and 4.4 rating. However, from the moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left, was 25 minutes. I ordered the grilled rooster and my wife and daughter ordered a pasta dish and tagliata or slices of steak. The food came surprisingly fast. We were the first customers in the restaurant but even then, we would not have expected the food to come out that quicky. The reason, in my opinion, is that I believe my chicken meal was pre-cooked. It was entirely overcooked and dry to the point of I had to drink water to get bites down. I only ate about half of it. My wife and I talked about the nature of the meal and how it’s possible it was cooked that quickly, and that the only way that it could have been would to have precooked it the day before or earlier in the day, and then reheat it. It tasted like leftovers in my refrigerator. That is not an exaggeration but exactly what it tasted like to me if I had day-old cooked chicken and then reheated it too much in a microwave. If this was fresh chicken put on the grill, I don’t know how it could possibly have been prepared and grilled to such a degree to be nearly inedible in the ten or fewer minutes it took to deliver it to our table after ordering. And at 18 euros for the chicken with potatoes, to be honest, it pissed me off as a rip-off. I was ready to go immediately and we didn’t order dessert. Also, we ordered a bottle of water. My wife and I believe it was just tap water versus a filtered water. The bread was good but not entirely fresh. Overall, the meal was 60 euros which was steep for what we got. Definitely not worth it. I would have rather ate at home or one of my favorite restaurants in the area that would have been a trusted experience.

26/01/2026: We had lunch at Trattoria Canuleia during a weekend in Lucca. In addition to the kindness of the entire staff, both during the reservation and during lunch, we had the opportunity to try very good local dishes in generous portions. It will be a must-visit when we return to Lucca :)

25/01/2026: The atmosphere is cozy and very pleasant, the staff is very kind, smiling, and helpful. The food is truly excellent.

02/04/2026: Our experience at this trattoria was simply outstanding and definitely the best we've had in Tuscany so far. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with exceptionally friendly and attentive service – warm, professional, and just the right amount of presence. The food was simply divine: The pici al ragù were perfectly al dente and incredibly aromatic. The gnocchi with artichokes were tender and bursting with flavor, while the tagliarini with calamari impressed with their freshness and refinement. The ravioli alla chef were also an absolute highlight – creative, perfectly balanced, and simply delicious. This was complemented by an excellent Vino Nobile, which perfectly paired the dishes. The superb olive oil and balsamic vinegar also deserve special mention – of the highest quality and a true taste sensation. The crowning glory was the dessert: the best tiramisu we've ever eaten – creamy, perfectly balanced, and unforgettable. Overall, a perfect restaurant experience with excellent food, great service, and an authentic Tuscan atmosphere. Highly recommended – we'll be back!

31/10/2025: I’ve been here several times in the past couple of decades but first time since 2017 I could come back and again it was amazing. I’m gluten free and they made the most delicious truffle risotto fresh and perfect. It’s more about the atmosphere and better if you can eat all the gluten but still I’m glad to come back. Nice people and perfect Tuscan cuisine.

11/10/2025: The dishes are also excellent to look at, the service is excellent and the interior of the restaurant is intimate.

17/12/2025: This ended up being my favorite dinner of our entire trip to Tuscany. The staff was incredible and genuinely accommodating. I even called from the U.S. to make our reservation. I tried my best Italian, they met me with their English, and somehow we understood each other perfectly. This is clearly a place the locals adore, and it was evident the moment we walked in. I’m pretty sure we were the only tourists there, which made us love it even more. The menu was surprisingly available in English, though not everything made complete sense but that was part of the charm. Our server did a phenomenal job guiding us through the menu and offering thoughtful recommendations. The pasta dishes were exquisite. My husband decided to be adventurous and ordered a mushroom pasta (despite hating mushrooms) and ended up absolutely loving it. My ravioli with sage was unforgettable. I still think about it. I can’t quite pinpoint what makes Ristorante L’Altana so special. It’s a simple restaurant, nothing overly fancy, yet there was something about the food, the ambiance, and the beauty in its simplicity that made it stand out as the highlight of our trip.

21/02/2026: We stumbled upon this place by chance. The people were very welcoming, the rooms were immaculately kept, clean, and very warm. We'll definitely be back. It's a shame we didn't try their cuisine, which, given everything else, would have been excellent.

17/01/2026: There can only be wonderful words for this place, which is truly perfect in every way. I stayed and dined here two consecutive nights, sampling various dishes. The rooms are clean, cool, and quiet. The restaurant is truly delicious; you can view the menu directly on the website. I've included a few photos to give you an idea. The staff is very professional and courteous; I would return not once, but a thousand times. Thank you to all the staff!

08/03/2026: As we all know, in a restaurant, the quality of the food is very important, but good service is everything. Excellent food served with a delightful smile, spontaneous yet highly professional, in a unique setting that will stay with you forever, are the reasons I'll definitely return.

17/03/2026: Amazing!!! Claudio is the host with a capital O, Anna is a natural wonder, and her mother is a wonderful woman. What can I say, the food is so good and authentic that it's priceless, every time we go we feel like we're at grandma's house! Super kind and friendly, with lots of gluten-free and vegetarian options. They're always understanding and available to accommodate the customer in every way. I can't wait to go back!!!!
