14/04/2026: I came here twice - the first time it was closed, but I luckily bumped into the owner, who mentioned it would be open the next day, so I made the trip again. The Google opening hours don’t seem very accurate, so it’s probably best to call ahead. That said, it was absolutely worth coming back. I had a very satisfying risotto, personally prepared and served by the humble chef/owner. After the meal, he even shared a his recipe book with me, which was such a thoughtful touch. You can really feel his passion in both the food and the experience he creates. Because of that, I’d strongly recommend this place!

01/06/2026: The place is poorly maintained. Too touristy. The octopus was tough and the purple mashed potatoes that accompanied it were too dry. The pumpkin pie was dry. The truffle was lacking in flavor and nonexistent. The risotto with Amarone was decent, but it tasted like it was made with red wine. Honestly, I wouldn't return. And I wouldn't recommend it.

11/07/2026: In my opinion, it was just average. The view was great and the service was great, but the food wasn't anything special, just classic pizza. Maybe other options are better, but when it comes to pizza, I think there are better places.

02/05/2026: The menu is on the blackboard. The options are limited and not described, but the waitress kindly explained them. Everything was delicious; we tried several pastries and would definitely order again. They also have very good coffee.

13/07/2026: TRUE STORY: My wife and I are moving to Varese for a few weeks to give birth to our son. She already knew Il Gestore, but I hadn't been there since I wasn't a regular in the city. "We absolutely have to try it!" she tells me. We make a reservation one evening, but she starts to show the first signs of labor, so we have to cancel. The next day, labor is intermittent. Our doula advises my wife to do something that makes her feel good, to release oxytocin, which usually kicks things off. She immediately says, "Lobster linguine, I want the lobster linguine from Il Gestore!" I call to see if they can do takeout: "Sorry, we have a wedding today and the kitchen is busy. Could a piece of foie gras be okay?" My wife loves foie gras, so I go get it. I arrive at the restaurant, a beautiful villa, where I'm warmly welcomed. Finally, they gave me the foie gras with a big "good luck." I took it to our accommodation, and with every bite, my wife had a contraction. About 12 hours later, our son was born! The Manager will forever be in our hearts, and we promised to bring our baby as soon as he's weaned.

05/07/2026: Nothing to complain about the food: as always, excellent quality and truly delicious dishes. Unfortunately, however, last night's dinner was completely ruined by the presence of numerous mosquitoes in the restaurant. This forced us to eat quickly, unable to enjoy the evening, and to leave as quickly as possible. It was truly unpleasant, and I believe it's appropriate to take action to resolve the problem, because such an experience risks penalizing a restaurant that, otherwise, certainly deserves a positive review.

04/07/2026: Everything was good, except for the MOSQUITO INVASION that didn't leave us alone for a moment. Even though we were inside, the entire dinner was ruined by mosquitoes that ate us and completely ruined the evening, forcing us to get up every so often to go out and having to squash them against the wall, leaving blood everywhere. They even ended up on our plates. A disastrous experience. PLEASE DISINFEST (we asked for Autan, but even the waiters complained).
