TRUE STORY: My wife and I are moving to Varese for a few weeks to give birth to our son. She already knew Il Gestore, but I hadn't been there since I wasn't a regular in the city. "We absolutely have to try it!" she tells me. We make a reservation one evening, but she starts to show the first signs of labor, so we have to cancel. The next day, labor is intermittent. Our doula advises my wife to do something that makes her feel good, to release oxytocin, which usually kicks things off. She immediately says, "Lobster linguine, I want the lobster linguine from Il Gestore!" I call to see if they can do takeout: "Sorry, we have a wedding today and the kitchen is busy. Could a piece of foie gras be okay?" My wife loves foie gras, so I go get it. I arrive at the restaurant, a beautiful villa, where I'm warmly welcomed. Finally, they gave me the foie gras with a big "good luck." I took it to our accommodation, and with every bite, my wife had a contraction. About 12 hours later, our son was born! The Manager will forever be in our hearts, and we promised to bring our baby as soon as he's weaned.

Dinner for the first time, a pleasant surprise. Beautiful location, top-notch service, excellent food, and I'm not sure what the bill is. I think it should cost at least €80-100. Well spent, I must say.

Well-prepared dishes. Service inadequate for the restaurant's level. Excessively long waits. Little attention paid to tables. The wine list, mostly French, is excellent, and obviously very extensive. A place for those who don't care about prices. Not for everyone. The clientele is very particular. Unfortunately, we've had to deal with some unpleasant comments due to excessive wine and a certain provincialism. Not exactly a place to return to, despite the high prices. Not recommended.

We had lunch at this historic location. Diego is very professional and makes you feel at ease. The dishes are delicious, and there's plenty of choice even though we were stopping for a quick lunch.

The owners are wonderful people, courteous and attentive to their customers. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a warm welcome and quality pizza!

The zucchini timbale was very delicate yet flavorful. The sourdough bread crouton is a bit like a country bruschetta, with various ingredients that make it appetizing. The pork cheek, cooked for 12 hours, flaked in the mouth with a truly delicious softness. The rare sliced ​​steak was also excellent. All accompanied by an excellent 2020 Sangiovese and Merlot blend. To finish, the typical dessert: a regional tart with blueberry jam. The staff were truly helpful and kind, always smiling and super welcoming, especially considering my food allergies.
