Having lived in Umbria for the past four and a half years, we have grown to truly appreciate fine food and wine, and for me as a passionate food and wine lover, there is simply no better place than this culinary jewel in Montone. Chef Giancarlo Polito is more than just a master in the kitchen... he is a true gentleman. His genuine care for his guests and his dedication to creating unforgettable dining experiences set this restaurant apart. Every visit feels special, thanks to the perfect combination of exquisite cuisine, warm hospitality, and an atmosphere that makes you want to stay much longer. We absolutely love it here, and La Locanda del Capitano continues to be one of the highlights of our life in Umbria.

05/10/2025: We chose the restaurant because it was listed by Michelin. There was a wine festival in town with many, mostly local, visitors. The restaurant was empty except for a few tables and remained empty. The menu was greasy and worn; the wine bottle was presented, carried away, and opened in a place where we couldn't see it. The food didn't live up to our expectations. Overall, we felt the restaurant's performance didn't match the Michelin recommendation.
