08/11/2025: I went for dinner yesterday and had a great time. It's an elegant place, but the atmosphere is simple and welcoming, the staff is friendly and competent, the food is delicious, and the price is fair. There were a lot of people in the dining room, but I was able to converse with my three companions. Rating 8+. PS. I'm a postman, and I've had to deliver mail to hotels. I remember the melancholy and despair of the COVID years. The evening is like compensation. I thought about the examples economists give to explain the division of labor: one delivers bills and fines, the other offers happy, convivial evenings... luckily there's money, otherwise it would be difficult to reach an agreement.

07/10/2025: A very positive experience 😊 Very nice and well-kept place, impeccable service. Extremely courteous staff, and the waiter accommodated a request I had that wasn't on the menu. They pay close attention to intolerances, and offer many gluten-free options (suitable for celiacs). Really fair prices, especially considering the quality of the dishes served. My only negative: the gluten-free pizza could have been cooked a little longer; it was a bit pale. (Bonus: still-warm bread and a greeting from the kitchen with a small pumpkin soup) Highly recommended!

19/11/2025: It's not as good as it used to be. I won't go there again. They even charged us a glass of wine we didn't order. It's a good thing we noticed, otherwise we would have overpaid for a mediocre meal.

01/11/2025: I practically grew up with their excellent dishes! The staff is friendly and professional. Here you'll find traditional Lucca and Tuscan dishes. The Zuppa alla Frantoiana is excellent, the farro soup is fantastic, and the pasta with wild boar ragù is special. But the best are the tordelli Lucchesi. Here you'll find the real ones, the ones that stay a little firm and don't sag, accompanied by an excellent ragù. In short, for me, they're the best around! The main courses are also excellent: the cacciucco, the peposo, and the wild boar stew with olives (one of the best in all of Lucca, and perhaps Tuscany, I'm not kidding). The pizza is also excellent; I recommend the buffalo mozzarella and sausage!

31/10/2025: A good lunch with a set menu or seafood options. Fast service. Reservations are recommended. Larger portions are available unless you're looking for something else on the set menu, which still costs €12. Thin-crust pizzas are also available at lunchtime.

22/09/2025: At Taverna di John, you can experience the authentic Palermo atmosphere combined with top-notch pizza. The dough is light and easy to digest, with fresh, high-quality ingredients that truly make the difference. The menu is extensive, but every item is carefully crafted. Service is fast and friendly, and the staff is attentive and helpful. Prices are absolutely fair for the quality. One of the best pizzerias I've tried in Palermo: I'll definitely be back and recommend it without hesitation!

25/10/2025: We have been dining here for several years, and the food and service have consistently been excellent. That history is the reason I am giving more than one star despite my most recent experience. I am writing to bring to the owner’s attention an issue with your receptionist. Today, after calling twice, the receptionist hung up on me both times mid-conversation without any explanation or follow-up. I have always made reservations in English and have never encountered any issues in the past, so this behavior was unexpected and disappointing. We have recommended your restaurant to family and friends and have been loyal customers for years. However, after this experience, we will no longer be returning. The way a reservation call is handled sets the tone for the entire dining experience, and no guest should be treated this way. I hope this matter is addressed so that future customers do not have the same experience.

18/10/2025: This restaurant is one of the region's absolute top performers. Fresh and raw fish takes center stage, but there are also a selection of delicious alternatives for guests who don't prefer fish. The wine cellar is a true rarity, with wines and champagnes that are hard to find these days – and at fair prices. A visit here is an absolute must if you're in the area.

08/11/2025: Absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced! The bread served before the meal was amazing, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside – the best bread I've had in Milan these past few days, no exaggeration! There was only one server and the owner, who were incredibly friendly. 🥹 The menu is only in Italian; I recommend using ChatGPT to translate it – it's quite accurate! No disappointments on the menu; the pasta dishes were all very flavorful, perfectly seasoned. One dish that was particularly special was Risotto con agrumi di Sicilia e gambero laccato al miele e brandy – Sicilian citrus risotto with honey brandy grilled shrimp! Thumbs up!

05/10/2025: The service was very attentive and spoke excellent English. The food was phenomenal. We had ravioli with porcini mushrooms and sage butter for the starter, and lasagna with porcini mushrooms for the main course. The dessert, a hazelnut cake, was also excellent. You can taste the love that goes into making it. The ingredients are of good quality, and it's nice to see that they offer regional and seasonal dishes. Above all, there was a large vegetarian selection.

22/10/2025: Amazing place with fantastic local wines and incredibly delicious food. Everything was just perfect. What truly stood out was the welcoming atmosphere and the attention to every detail. We even had the pleasure of a brief visit from the kitchen staff, who took the time to explain more about the food. It's a highly recommended spot to enjoy a fantastic time, surrounded by many locals, which adds to the special, almost family-like atmosphere. A truly memorable experience.

29/10/2025: Lunch with an older couple. I had a truly wonderful day. A very quiet place, run by a welcoming family. We had to wait a bit, but the lunch was really good, especially the cacio-pepe pasta and the dessert at the end. Not too expensive either. Worth a visit!

23/09/2025: I really don't like leaving negative reviews. In fact I never do (truly I'm not just saying this) because I know the effect they can have an a business. However I think people should get a glimpse of the restaurant before coming here to spend a ton of money for subpar quality food. How can you be a in a region with an absolute surplus of olive oil and have food this bland at exorbiant prices. I don't think there was a grain of salt on any dish. It's also criminal to call an appetizer red prawns then get 4 pieces of the tail of a prawn that is barely bigger than a finger nail. I would have also rather been spared the "mixed greens" under my octopus as it was just that. Mixed green with nothing on them and majority of the leaves were rotten. Also a lobster pasta dish in which it requires you to crack your own lobster with your hands? Trying to make food into something "artistic" is the downfall of dining. Put something on the late that is worth eating and priced fairly. 45 minutes between starters and mains is a no for me as well. Rest assured this is an honest review....sadly
